Myth01- Training Day- Regent

No problem, we all understand about Real Life.

lurker's comment: [offtopic]

CB, you forgot te TM! You can't say "Real life" on the internet without putting TM after it!

Me again? oh, great. We are on two players? Should we start propaganda on forums? choxorn come, join with the dark si... errr with us... With us, yeah with us not with the Dark Si... I mean them. I can't do my sets as fast as players change.

Ngraner is still in list? He is not inactive?

I'll play 9 turns by Sunday morning, I hope.

lurker's comment: Haven't I already said it is impossible for me to play C3C SG's due to the Please Insert CD Bug? ;)

Me again? oh, great. We are on two players?
I'm not afraid of a two player game. The first SG I was in turned into that.

Plus, Yahya only asked for a skip. He didn't say he was dropping out.

He's still on the list.
I'll play 9 turns by Sunday morning, I hope.
We'll be waiting.

OK, skip me, real life comes in so I can not play before Tuesday.

Sorry.

OK, skip me, real life comes in so I can not play before Tuesday.

Sorry.

I might be able to get to it before Tuesday; a lot depends on how Monday goes.

If I don't post a got-it, the game is yours to pick up and play.

I'll be in hospital for 4-6 days more, please skip me. I can't play at home, they allow me to stay here for one night and one day, then have to go back.

Sorry!

:eek:

You were so addicted to Civ that you had to go to the hospital? Wow.

:D

Get better as quick as you can. If you are forced to rest from Civ for a time, whether two to three weeks or two to three months, that is not a problem. If by some chance this game is done before you can play again ( :lol: ) you can always join another SG or start one of your own.

Yahya, with Northen Wolf out of commission for a while, can you finish out your turnset?

If I remember right, CivAssist says we are on turn 185 now. Here is my log:

Turn 2:

  • I must have done things on Turn 2 and not documented them. If anything, I moved troops closer to attack points, and got workers going where I wanted them. This can be better documented on Turn 3. My bad.
IBT:
  • Archer outside Intombe attacks and loses. Defending vSword promoted to Elite.
  • Hangchow Harbor -> Settler in 5.
  • Grapeville Settler -> Settler in 15.
  • Plainsville Worker -> Courthouse in 80 (open to suggestions here, not many options yet).
Turn 3:
  • Delhi, Canton, Soduku City, and West Coast Point will riot next turn. I added an entertainer in each city.
  • Delhi is growing in 1, so I will have to add another entertainer there for three turns. Marketplace completes in 4 there, and that will be huge, as Delhi has 3 lux. We should have no happiness problems in Delhi for some time after that. The slider might even be able to be adjusted.
  • Trade with Greece ended, so we are at -25 gpt, gunpowder in 6. We have 186 gold in treasury. I change science slider to 30% (from 40%), and we get gunpowder in 7 at -9 gpt, for a total loss of 63 gold, presuming we drop down no other cities. I like that deal better, even though it delays gunpowder by one turn.
  • Keep moving troops toward Hlobane.
Battle of Mpondo
  • vMace attacks rImpi and wins. Promotes to Elite. (1-0)
  • vMace attacks rImpi and wins. Promotes to Elite. (2-0)
Good News:
Untitled-1copy.jpg

Mpondo is no more. We got one slave.

Move some troops around. Get some workers working.

I found a new frenemy.
Untitled-2copy.jpg

Him not liking us so much.

IBT:

We have an Iroquois galley near Soduku City. I’m thinking they’re gonna settle around the volcano.
Untitled-3copy.jpg

  • Soduku City rioting, though I added an entertainer last turn. I add another one. Strange.
  • Nanking vMace -> Settler in 4.
  • Bangalore Settler -> Settler in 30 (don’t know what to do here).
  • Irony vMace -> Marketplace in 12.
Hiawatha is still busy

Untitled-4copy.jpg

Turn 4:

  • Spacious Meadows is rioting. Change geek back to clown.
  • Beijing steady at 4.1.4, happy.content.unhappy. Marketplace in 3, growth in 10.
  • Looks like we are getting Ivory, either now (and I can’t see any, even on a cleaned map), or next turn. That will be good if we can pick that up.
  • At –14 gpt, gunpowder in 7, 181 gold. Keeping an eye on that.
  • Getting some settlers into position to take galleys to Old Zululand.
  • Settler in position to found a new city southwest of Hlobane next turn.
IBT:
  • Lincoln threatens me, because our galley is in his lands. I pacify him.
  • Iroquois galley moves away.
  • rArcher comes out of Hlobane and attacks stack of vHorsemen. He is beaten down to 1/3. Our Horse is killed. (0-1)
  • The archer is now exposed, and the city is less protected that it could have been.
  • West Coast Point Worker -> Spearman in 20.
  • Camp de Grass Worker -> Pikeman in 30.
Turn 5:
  • Horseman moves and kills archer. (1-1)
  • Move horse stack to protect injured (2/4) horseman.
  • Found Old Zulu City between Swazi and Plainsville. Worker in 10.
Untitled-5copy.jpg

Just noted: we have new neighbors to the south.
Untitled-6copy.jpg

Great View rioting. Change geek to clown.

Battle of Hlobane: Shaka’s Last Stand

  • Army attacks and makes short work of an rImpi. (2-1)
  • vHorse vs. rImpi – horse loses (2-2).
  • I foolishly attacked when the Maces weren’t able to move. Silly me. :p
  • vHorseman attacks rImpi and wins. Promotes to Elite. (3-2)
Good News
Untitled-8copy.jpg

We picked up one slave. Stop for beer and revelry.

:clap: :rockon:

Revelry complete. Moving along.

IBT:
“WLTC” Day all over the place. War over, so that would be the reason, eh?
Barb Outpost I Settler -> Settler in 15.

Cleo is up to something…
Untitled-9copy.jpg

Turn 6:

  • I just realized I sort of badly managed the destruction of the Zulu. To protect my Elites, I was not using them initially, but the Zulu went down like a house of cards, so we got no MGL. My bad again.
  • Start reorganizing troops. Clear fog in extreme north. Move some troops toward the peninsula, and some to the west of the northern land mass, to kill off barbs.
  • Move two settlers toward the peninsula, to expand.
  • Moving one settler in galley along southern coast toward Old Zulu. It’s a long trip.
  • Second galley coming back to pick up another settler.
  • Changed all entertainers to geeks. Gunpowder in 3, -9 gpt, 187 gold in treasury.
IBT:
  • Beijing Marketplace -> Courthouse in 5.
  • WLTC Day ends, as I took away the entertainers.
  • I cannot find any ivory on the map. Bummer.
  • Macao Trebuchet -> Courthouse in 40.
  • Nana-Na-Nana Harbor -> Courthouse in 80.
Turn 7:
  • Keep reorganizing troops.
  • Keep workers working.
IBT:
  • Nanking Settler -> Courthouse in 12.
  • Hangchow Settler -> Courthouse in 20.
  • Jaipur II Worker -> Walls in 10.
Oh, Alexander? Are you planning something?
Untitled-10copy.jpg

Turn 8:
  • Move around troops, get settlers into position.
  • Take one vHorseman and kill the barb on the peninsula. Moving in there with other tow vHorsemen, but keeping a choke point.
  • Move slider down. Gunpowder in 1. +4 gpt.
IBT:
  • Barb attacks horseman in the north and loses.
  • Gunpowder research complete. 228 gold. Research Monotheism at 30%, -19 gpt.
  • Intombe Trebuchet -> Courthouse in 80.
  • Swazi Trebuchet -> Courthouse in 80.
Turn 9:
  • Snooze. Popping some barbs.
IBT:
  • Forestville Marketplace -> Courthouse in 20.
  • Green Tea Worker -> Courthouse in 80.
  • Hidden Harbor Worker -> Courthouse in 80.
Turn 10:
  • Found Jutlandville on the southern tip of peninsula. Courthouse in 80.
Summary:
  • There are four workers to the south of Jutlandville, ready to build a road and connect it to the empire.
  • There are workers connecting Swazi (spelling?) and Intombe to the empire.
  • I didn’t upgrade any units after gunpowder. I didn’t think of it.
  • We get Monotheism in 4. We are at –14 gpt, with over 200 gold in treasury. That could be adjusted, most likely.
  • We have 33 workers on the payroll now, and about 10 slaves.
  • We have over 100 gpt in unit upkeep.
  • I didn’t take any empire snapshots. It didn’t occur to me, as I am a little tired from that series. :p
  • We have all of Old India, all of our original land, and are emerging into Old Zululand and the peninsula.
  • The Iroquois are somewhat threatening on the small island to the south, but they are far removed from their empire there.
  • We just found the northern tip of the eastern continent. So that galley can now turn south.
  • Oh, one more thing. Shaka is dead! :devil:
  • We are in really good shape, I would say, but some readjustment is now necessary.
Good luck!

Shaka is dead!

:high5:

:banana:

Two quick things I noted in the log:

Courthouses: When deciding to build a courthouse, think of a doughnut. Center that doughnut on the capital. The cities where a courthouse makes sense are those that are covered by the doughnut. At the center, in the capital, a courthouse is just a waste of money (except as a pre-build) and out in the fringes it will not reduce courruption enough to pay for its upkeep.

Ideally, since a courthouse has an upkeep of 1 sheild per turn, it needs to reduce corruption by 2 sheilds per turn. This means that it is best built in cities that have from say 25% to 60% corruption, maybe even 67% courruption.

So a courthouse in Beijing is not needed; the capital has almost no corruption. And Intombe and other captured Zulu cities appear to have 90% corruption. They will net one shield per turn. They will probabaly serve best as geek farms, but we'll need to examine the save to be sure.

Save: Uh, er, :scan:

I am up next and it should be a quick turnset. At least, we have no wars scheduled.

How do we want to win?

Good work guys. Finally you own your continent. always a big moment in a game. :goodjob:

Or, they could declare war, fight for a while, then make peace for the island (make sure you shell it endlessly to make its worth go down).

OT- Just noticed that this thread has 11k Pageviews. It is a long lasting game isn't it ;)?

Seriously, Well done although it seems easier than Rod01 ;)
