OK, I finally found a great Firefly model and am animating a unit that I have wanted for quite some time.

Run-Fidget(Drop)-Default-Laser-EMP-Gun-Victory-Death

This should work as a naval ground or air unit.

Firefly was one of the best SF movie series i've ever seen. That is a nice tribute to it.

Maybe so. I've already started rendering, so I'll reconsider the sizing later. I think I can resize the storyboards or use CivIIIFlicEdit. I'm working 12 hour shifts for the next 10 days , so It'll probably be a while before I release this.

I told La Dav I'd make him a modern PLA soldier to go with his new unit line. Preview below has Chinese camo and the new Type 95 Assault Rifle. I tried to make him look authentic, but let me know if you have any suggestions.

The type 95 rifle looks very good

About the camo:

Tibet camo

Type 87

Special forces

Marines type 97

Paratrooper

The camo you used doesn't really look right, but I don't know if you can change it easily to something suitable for civ scale.

About the model itself, you should make the skin a bit yellower.

The Tibet camo looks very close to the Bundeswehr's "Flecktarn" camo scheme...

I say leave it as is. I've been looking for a new modern infantry unit for a while. skin color doesn't matter. leave as is.

Well... I am a advocate of texture mods... so I would encourage you to give him the proper camo (and skin color) to make him a true PLA soldier. You can always release the current rendition as a more generic modern infantryman...

I thought that it could be a variant of the M2 team unit that is out there. It can also be mounted on a HMMWV. If you need a better picture just let me know. My unit has some signed out right now. I just have to check first to make sure that I can post a picture like that without posing a security risk. The same goes with any vehicles you need. I live at the home of armor and cavalry, and the patton museum is 5 minutes from where I live. I won't post any pictures of any vehicles the Army currently uses because it would be a security violation, but if you need any pictures of any older vehicles that are no longer in use I can get you some. Ft. Knox has a static display of just about anything that has affected the armored force since it's conception. I know that wyrmshadow does what-if vehicles occasionally. There are both variants from the failed MBT-70 project here as well as the original Bradley prototype. I just have to check with my commander to make sure that it will be okay before I post.

New preview posted below. I did use a Chinese camo pattern (type 99) in the original model. The reason I am using the swatch I am, is that it shows up fairly well at civ scale. Compare it to the Spec Forces pattern (bottom left in preview). This more intricate design looks nearly all black at civ scale. I also like type 99 because the colors are very traditional and do not serve a more specific purpose, ie. winter camo.

As for the skin, I made it a little lighter (again in preview). However, I don't see what you mean by adding a yellow tint. I have met many Chinese (I live on Oahu where they make up a large % of the population) and their skin is, for the most part, similar to mine. Can you give me some examples of a better skin tone?

Cool unit so far. Could you maybe do that Mayan unit that I was going to do but decided not to next perhaps? You seem to be able to do anything, Firefly, Cowboy, Santa etc.

Oh so that was type 99 camo... my mistake!

BTW.. I like the new previews... he does look very Chinese. Even though it wont show up in civ-scale, just knowing that he looks Chinese makes all the difference.

I actually like the lower right version better, if my opinion counts for anything...it might look all black to some, but it looks like Special Forces camo to me...

@ Spacer, it does look good for a spec ops unit, but I was going for a more regular type infantry. I'll hang onto the pattern for a possible future variation.

@ SoG, unfortunately, one thing I cannot do is model, and I can't come anywhere close to doing justice for your request.
