Between Zulu and Norlamand, offtopic is full of entirely negative threads about two countries...Britain and the United States of America.

Whilst Zulu targets a certain political frame of mind and the invasion of Iraqi, Norlamand is doing it by way of retaliation and is concentrating on even minor stories, as long as the emphasis is negative.

This contributes little or nothing to civfanatics as often the stories aren't really talking points, just a way of slagging of a country. It is essentially trolling and I'll tell you, MY blood pressure is starting to boil.

I hope you'll take the appropriate action as these posters are targetting specfic countries for in essence a negative publicity campaign because they themselves are...........

I'm sure I'm not the only one about to react ratherly unkindly to this sort of posting.

P.S Where has "report this post" gone???

For some odd reason you can not report your own posts.

your P.S.: hte '!' trianlge the the lower left, beneath teh avatar.

KoC has a point here - would it be possible to say each poster must write a more than one loine comment on articles he posts? Should slow both of them down....

zulu has gotten a lot better lately, both in his sources and what he posts - not only the articles but also a view on them.

Yeah, Zulu started a thread about the Ukrainian elections, Norlamand is just a copy&paster of negative stories in the British media. If he was British and wanted to generate discussion, fair play, but he is an American with no ties to our island, bashing the NHS, Monarchy and our PM...does he want a flame war, because if this sort of nonsense is allowed to pass, then I see no reason to hold back.

P.S found the report post thingie...now it is an icon rather than "report this post", jeez I'm getting set in my ways.

he only sticks out so bad because OT is so quiet atm ;)

I believed he stated in 1 post it was to show what it was like to wake up every morning to the zulu anti america posts. point made, time to stop.

I think Norlamand was doing it in responses to zulu. Get Zulu to stop and both might stop.;)

I see no reason to have zulu stop - he has stopped the offensive posts and uses proper sources by now, stating his opinion and basically getting a discussion going.

Talk about the topic of negative threads being made if you must, but do not focus on the posters themselves.

I don't think that is possible Duke. As the posters are at the heart of the issue, and to ignore them would be to ignore the issue, ;)

So, Marlborough, you are essentially giving me permission to trawl through the American news outlets and copy&paste the 100,000s of negative stories about life in America. With all the shootings (20,000 deaths a year), the drugs deaths, the poverty, the illegal immigration, the abuse of money, frat societies (good for a few thousand :p ) and the porn industry, it won't be hard. Maybe add to that the War on Terror and where innocent people get caught up.

Well, it will be an easy way to get past Curt Sibling in post count...but I can't help feeling that this is not the way civfanatics runs, nor that it is helpful. But, if you are happy with this, that is what will happen in response.

Weimar Republic, don't get me wrong, I'm anti-bashing thread, it just appears that our Mod in resident 'Duke of Marlborough' condones it as he condones the parallel action...that of posting entirely negative threads with no commentary on aspects of British life and institutions. As a result, to avoid a double-standard, America bashing is in point of fact IN!

P.S Pellakan, I like the new start you've made in returning to Civfanatics...keep it up :goodjob:

His latest thread now appears to have have a hidden motive.

well, if his hidden motive is to show Americans that not all is as well as they usually think - what's so bad about that?
read
think
debate
inform yourself

no harm in that!

nobody here is after all atm posting threads just to annoy Americans.

Umm, Carlos, here's his post

It's interesting that Americans, having had democracy for so long, didn't really mind that their election was rigged; whilst Ukranians, having had so little democracy, were prepared to go to civil war to safeguard it.

so?

there's lots of indications out there that some things wnet wrong (as they are prone to with ANY election - there's always people triyng to fix things).

There is little indication it matteres on a large scale - but given the 2000 election and how this was handled (especially by the Supreme Court) I'd say he has a good right to have this opinion.

And how does his list of critical posts on failed US policies in iraq have ANYTHING at all to do with the election?

I for one am sick and tired of this 'he is wrong in one thing so he is an anti-American and a nutcase' attitude. Zulu is decidedly different from the other case mentioned ehre, where a poster flodded OT with negative threads where he didn't even VOICE his opinion.

And, to be honest, I am surprised it is you making that 'point', perfection!

So what Zulu is allowed to just post anything anti American but when it comes to anti UK we are supposed to say thats a bad idea. It ain't fun to log on every day and see a new anti American thread, just like it ain't fun for you to wake up and see anti UK threads everyday.
