NES Diplomacy Game, again?

Oh...oh, you've been gone for a long time.

Can someone explain NAO to MjM?

EDIT: Basically, NAO was started by people saying "Update NAO" when mods had delayed an update for too long. So me and Silver Steak took the term and made it into N.A.O. (we haven't decided on what the O stands for yet, though,) which is pretty much an annoying group that randomly bothers mods to finish their updates.

You should join as France. NAO!
:p

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. jalapeno said it first. :p

Okay I am new with this so I have a few questions. Diplomacy works however you like. So I can purpose alliances and so forth.

I choose where to place my starting armies as my orders.

1. Yes, you can, and you're encouraged to. It's almost impossible to win without an alliance. But be warned that people can (and often do) break alliances without any consequences.

2. Your starting armies are already placed. See the map on the previous page. Spring and Fall orders (this is Spring 1901) are where to move your armies. You can move, hold, support, or (with fleets) convoy. Winter orders (after every two move turns) allow you to build new armies.

I recommend downloading jDip and playing around if you're confused.

So in Spring, can I move a fleet into a water space, load an adjacent army, and then unload it? Or does the unloading wait until fall?
No, you can't. A move takes up an entire turn, and so does a convoy. A fleet convoying an army across a body of water must already be there to convoy.

I recommend that you read the rules, if you haven't already. They have lots of examples.

Lots of good strategy articles can be found here.

Convoying is done in one move, so you don't load the army into the navy. A convoy looks like this:

F North Sea Convoy Army London - Norway
Army London - Norway

From: Austria
To: Everybody

Hey guys, let's just share Europe. Then we all win :P

Just checking in as Germany.

Orders due in shortly over 24 hours. The faster I get them in, the faster I resolve and you can go back to plotting against each other.

I am going to send orders after my update but I need to PM a few questions to you to make sure what I am doing is alright.

That's fine.

I know this isn't a NES, but...

-----

Czar Dreadnought I looked upon his capital of St. Petersburg. The people were cheering as the Russian Baltic Navy steamed out of port to an undisclosed location.

Europe is changing, he thought to himself, and we must adapt or wither away.

What he said was true. The Balkans were opening up, as many new nations carved their countries out of the old man of Europe. Germany unified just a few decades ago, and then in a great surprise defeated France. Britain had an empire that the sun never set upon, built over the last few centuries. And Russia, well, expanded into Turkmanistan. Europe was a caldron of power. The boiling point is almost met.

Dreadnought sighed heavily and withdrew into the Imperial Palace. He had been staring at a map of Europe for days, trying to find a hole or point where Russia could expand. There was none. Any expansion would be met with force by powerful enemies. Enemies...that could easily overrun the borders.

Time was spinning. The continent was changing. The countries of Europe are mobilizing their armies. The navies are loading their oil. The shells are being loaded. The time has come.

The fates have spun their cloth. We go, to victory, or to death.
