Ok, so me and Lucy are having a discussion in fiftychat. What video game system was better, the nes or the snes?

SNES. There are just way too many quality games on that system to even remotely compare to the NES. Zelda:LTTP, Chrono Trigger, FF2 and FF3, Star Fox, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, Super Punchout, Mega Man X, Yoshi's Island, Kirby All-Star...

I don't know, man. NES was my first game system. A lot of the best games I ever played were on that system. Was SNES a technological improvement? Absolutely. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't think so, but...maybe improvements in technology aren't always the bar that we should use to determine whether one system is/was better than another.

I certainly do not think that games ought to be the bar, because the system developer does not really have any control over titles available to customers. Game developers are responsible for that.

I don't know. I think that overall, if I were to take one system and all of the titles available for it, with me, to a deserted island, I think that I'd have to choose NES.
