BEHIND_THE_MASK: I believe Iraq was independent by WWII, so coloring it red is not accurate. I could be wrong though.

You would be wrong ;) France and Britain were very reluctant to relinquish control of the Middle East.

Your right. I though it was a British Mandate still or something. But you're right. I'll change that right away.

Iraq got independance by 1932... But britain still had military bases there and such.

Well, Britain and France had very different stances when it came to decolonization. In fact, we learned in history class that Iraq was the first country to get actual independence from the UK.

France on the other hand, was very reluctant about decolonization.

So was Britain, though it did generally fold more often than fight.

@Behind_the_Mask The borders of Finland you have on your map are post World War II (1947 borders). In 1939 Finland should still have the areas of the Karelian Isthmus, Ladogan Karelia, the area of eastern Salla (in Lapland) and the area of Petsamo (and thus access to the arctic sea).

Umm, Iggy, of course it was a joke... :p

Played around some with TBR's magnificent North America diplomacy map. I've come up with a scenario for eight players:

Colors are likely to change. Powers are Canada, Quebec, Lakelands, USECA, California, Texas, Mexico and Cuba. I think it will give rise to some really interesting strategic situations. Like it?

@Iggy: Sorry, Yukon just wasn't SC material... ;)

looks pretty darn tootin to me :)

California I call it!! or Texas that looks okay too

Heh, sorry to disappoint you guys but I didn't say I was going to mod it :p. At least not at this point in time, maybe later. But if anyone else wants to, I'd be happy to provide the files. Glad you like it though. :)

I think I've managed a nice balance between all powers. All of them have potential, but come with risks, and no power can hope to simply walk to a good start without some serious diplomacy. I think I would favor playing Canada, Cuba or Mexico, they all have some interesting issues to deal with.

hmm maybe i can mod it.

Map with improved colors, to better fit with the powers they represent:

EDIT: Grey-ified the Lakelands color.

To H-S: My Spain still waits for the Modern one.

To Niklas: I think the Lakelands look too close to the "no entry" provinces and might even need more contrast with the regular ones.

Hmm, you're right. Lakelands are really the hardest to give a reasonable color to. For some reason , all US states seem to favor various more or less identical shades of red and blue in their flags and seals, so I can't find a reasonable color to put there. I guess I'll go with the German grey from the standard game, to go with the industrialised outlook, unless someone has a good suggestion.

Change Cali to yellow. We are the Golden State after all. And dont tell me that brown is golden brown cuz it aint.

@TBR maybe Ill start a more NESized one of this since "Someone" stopped making theirs NESized when that was an opening attracter.

The brown is that of the Bear State. And yes, it is a golden shade. :p But seriously though, give me a better color for Texas and I'll consider changing it.

I've updated the color of Lakelands in the post above.

Okay Okay I got it.
Make Cuba Pink
Texas Burgundy
And California Yellow
