NES World/Regional Maps III

Oh, yeah, since people seem to have forgotten: Map Requests is where half-finished stuff goes, this thread is for finished work.

BTM, as a general suggestion, that map source (which I use a lot) gives way too much credence to de jure claims of independence. They make a lot of states, that were in reality full provinces, semi-independent. It is otherwise a good source, keep using it. Oh, and the map you are making is very good, though I would change the city style to the standard one (I have absolutely no idea what you have different things representing). As for the Finnic states of Sweden, either integrate them fully or show their minimal level of regional independence by having thin borders around them and the same color as Sweden.

The exactness of the borders aside, your map is very nice. I do like tha style you've used.

Im actually working on 2 maps at the same time. One in the 1700s and one during the Cold War. I actually prefer the Cold War one because I have better sources (Ignore most of Russia's borders, I usually finish Russia last:

Oooh, very nice indeed!

Some nitpicking:
Are the omnipresent SCs are just for show, to see where each would be placed at said territory? If yes, then you missed to place one in Newfoundland. EDIT: Nvm, I just didn't see it. Also, should Puerto Rico really be a territory? Unless it gets an SC in the final version, it would have very little strategic value.

Not only Russia, all countries in Eastern Europe are a mess. I am guessing you are drawing those in paint or something like that. I am sure somebody here knows a program to directly use an actual map. Or maybe I am too much perfectionist.

@TBR,

That's cool.
Why not "his" or "hsp" for Hispaniola, rather than "dor" for Dominican Republic?

Ya. I am using paint and its a pain. Poland looks screwed up and I tried fixing it.

What countries need the most work, I'll go back and see what I can do.

Or you could just drop the [snip] which are already fairly accurate. :p

Sorry but Austria and everything east of it are way off the actual country shapes (Poland is one of the more accurate ones). Go with Symph's suggestion.

I've worked up one last map and this one I think is almost perfect:

Im not sure if I got Poland completly right, or the Japanese occupied areas of China but I still thinks its pretty damn good, what do ya'll think?

So wait....it's WW2? Other than a wierd southern border for Syria, I really like it.

I think I see a dot for San Marino too! Good work :goodjob:

I call playing that Southern Hemisphere uberpower....the one in white.

Damn...whats the PoD? Like super Bolivar?

Not to be critical, to my eyes it seems that German Silesia is occupied by Poland. Maybe I am just thinking of something else?

Poland is too far in Germany. :p
Now get cracking on French West Africa.
Note: It might be easier if you used a modern map first.

I have been using a modern map to work off of. Maybe its the source map I was useing.

I'll work on Africa later. Its gonna be hard. I cant seem to match up the borders that good.

Does this work any better for poland?

Also, I tried to fix up Syria and I finished the Mid East. How is it now?

Ahem. I do not type words into the aether of teh intranetz just for the sake of taking up bandwidth.

It has all the African borders, which are just parts of colonies decolonized. It's the same map, just differently colored. Cut. Paste. Problem solved. On that note:

Use the other thread to solicit feedback.

BEHIND_THE_MASK: I believe Iraq was independent by WWII, so coloring it red is not accurate. I could be wrong though.
