@TBR maybe Ill start a more NESized one of this since "Someone" stopped making theirs NESized when that was an opening attracter.

Well, I'm sorry I don't take 3 hours every update to make the news section as prolix as the intro story was. But it's not like anyone submits story material to use either. And I don't think anyone reads that section anyway, they just want to get to the results.

You've still got the borders of Finland wrong. As noted here.

@Behind_the_Mask The borders of Finland you have on your map are post World War II (1947 borders). In 1939 Finland should still have the areas of the Karelian Isthmus, Ladogan Karelia, the area of eastern Salla (in Lapland) and the area of Petsamo (and thus access to the arctic sea).

ya... I noticed that after I posted the map, I've done what I could to fix them and I've begun city placement:

Complete White Border = Capital
White/Red Border = Economic Center
White/Blue Border = Major Battlesite (Gets a bonus during battles)

I think that you all overlooked some very important things involving the British Empire, that's what. All this attention to the independence of Iraq, of all places, and yet the Union of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand...they should be independent, not British. Papua New Guinea, at this point, is an Australian mandate...some of the South Pacific islands are New Zealand's, I think. I need to check that.


But more importantly, make my home country independent! (Australia)

Also, on that string - British Borneo are technically independent (Sarawak is run by the Brooke family and North Borneo is run by the Chartered North Borneo Company)

Well, thats not really meant to be the British Empire, but the whole alliance between them. In the World Wars they seemed pretty close to eachother when it came down to things. They could be independant but I though this would give a the British player a larger vary of options, and difficulties.

If it's World War 2, that's a bad idea for Australia and New Zealand. Those two countries essentially told England to sod off after the fall of Singapore, and went to the USA instead.

Besides, it's better to have an accurate map and make players negotiate for rights, than to give the British player an hegemonic empire even larger than it should be. The Poms had enough trouble defending it in reality, let alone with LESS independent help.

Looks very good. I have to do my usual picking.

1- The island immediately west of Dardanelles is Turkey, not Greece (2 pixels)
2- The peninsula immediately north of Rhodes is Turkey, not Italy (1 pixel)
3- You forgot to color several islands in Atlantic and Pacific, in the Western hemisphere. They are mostly Portugese, British, French.

input for the cities - Turkey's largest cities before ww2:
1- Istanbul
2- Izmir
3- Ankara
4- Adana
5- Bursa
6- Mersin
7- Konya
If more are needed, toss in Gaziantep, Kayseri, Antalya.

As to names and such, I defer to TBR who constructed the map.

As for Greenland, well, you're right of course. I'm not happy to have it in plausability-wise, but strategically for the map it's perfect. The fleet there can reach either Alaska or Manitoba in the first year, or help defend Quebec or Newfoundland from attacks.

And of course, the scenario I've created is only one possibility. TBR has included SCs for all possible territories, so it would be fairly easy to set up a map with a completely different set of powers, or a fresh start like BlaDipNES. Now you got me thinking, hmm...

Canada is COMPLETELY independant. We had (Statute of Westminister) the CHOICE of whether or not to join the war. WE HAD OUR OWN BEACH ON DDAY. We had our own armies. We had an air force. We had independant foreign relations, and because King was a Hitler-lover, we nearly didnt join the war.

We're still not completely independent. The Queen's still the Head of State.

Of course, functionally, Canada's independent at the aforementioned point.
