I noticed a significant error on that map. In 700, all of northern Italy not under Lombard control was still Byzantine, under the Exarchate of Ravenna. It wasn't until 727 that the Byzantines lost their control of central Italy during Iconoclasm, and even then they held Ravenna and the Pentapolis until 751, when the Lombards invaded. The Papacy claimed Ravenna and the remnants of the Exarchate after 756.

Southern Italy around Naples (but not Apulia and Calabria or Rome) was under the independent Duchy of Benevento.

here. I also added Bosphorus Strait and did a few pixel-size correction in the Aegean coastline.

I thank you again for this map. This will probably be used in something that requires not so many rivers, mostly because it also has Scandinavia.

But now I have another request. Of course not for you, for anyone that wants to take it.

I found a much better Europe rivers map. I wasn't very interested in Scandinavia, but I was interested in the Mediterranean, which didn't exist in the first map. This one has much better rivers, it's bigger, and it covers more of the area that interests me.

But I'd still need about 4 rivers on this one. Can anyone add them? I would need the (2-3) rivers in western Turkey that knigh+ added, together with that river in Greece that was on this map map. Also, I'd need the Severn and Trent in England. Thank you. When this is done (if it is done), I'll add myself another river, the only other one that I still need (Prut, between Romania and Moldova).

Could anyone do this please?

This map has entire Turkey, should I add the large rivers of Eastern Turkey too?

Due to its broken topography, Turkey has a huge number of rivers. There are six rivers longer than 500km in Turkey that aren't in this map. (All of them are longer compared to the English rivers, but I am not sure what your exact criterion is for including a river).

If you think adding 6 rivers (Aras, Sakarya, Yesilirmak, Menderes, Seyhan, Ceyhan) might crowd Turkey too much, I can just add the bigger oner (Aras and Sakarya).

I guess I'll add Meric too (the river in the Balkans).

BTW, the criteria is only that there is just one river in all the British Isles, that's why I thought about adding 2 more there.

Q: If the Jordan River is there, shouldnt Lake Kineret be there (strategic importance - in Israel there is almost no water available that isnt imported or from lake kineret.)

You mean on my map? I see a lake near that river, but I don't know. Feel free to add it if you know how it looks like.

I believe that is the Dead Sea shown on the map, not a lake.

That's the Dead Sea. Lake Tiberius (it has several names, as I recall ) should also be on there; it's roughly on the other end of the Jordan.

Tiberius? Isn't that a lake in Northern Italy where Hannibal beat the crap out of the Romans? I know it started with a T but dont remember the name.

That would be Lake Trasimene (Latin)/Trasimeno (Italian).

Thx. I just stone it off of google, but it had alot of crap on it so I redid it in paint... I've got an idea for my NES, this will be the "Sicily Theatre", I got the map parts done:

I'm hoping to make several theatres that are usually small on a world map but when your in the theatre you can fit alot of centers and cities on it. Usually a major trade area.

I'll try and add the Sicily map to the Completed Thread.
