NES2 II: Age of Discovery

An open heart, an open palace.

King Ashoka rode on a horse, a gift from a European King, through the streets of Anuradhapura while the army fired off muskets. There was a very large crowd outside to await him; King Ashoka had just gone through the entire Empire on a spiritual journey. He had come back a changed man. King Ashoka had relieved all of his guards of their duties and ordered the doors of the palace to remain open all night and all day. This King's ear would always be there to listen to his people.

King Ashoka walked towards the balcony that rose stories over the capital. He shouted, 'People of India! By heaven, I think there is no man is as secure as I am today. If ever the people of this nation have a problem, they need not ignore it! If you have a problem, you shall walk inside the palace, who's doors will remain upon now and forevermore to my people, and you shall tell your King your problem and your King will do his duty and fix it. The people cheered and shouted his name "ASHOKA, ASHOKA, ASHOKA!" The King smiled and silently walked back inside.

His royal advisor, Akbar, had asked him, "Oh King, ,do you not think that the an assassin will enter the palace with a problem and kill you?" Ashoka grinned at replied, "If an assassin shall come, then I will welcome him, as I have just invited him to this palace. He will be my guest."

OOC: Hey, the Mughals never existed, so then the Taj Mahal didn't either.

So what stats will Civil War Japan be acting on? Should I increase anything?

Josef: :thumbdown

Where's the :midfinger: smilie gone???

OOC - das, what countries can Messipia communicate with? I think likely the light blue Mexican one, and that island nation off our cost, maybe Finland as well. Logically, given the time and such, we wouldn't have communications with every nation.

And who is playing Brittania?

To Lombardia:
If you need any concrete aid if defending yourself just ask.

To: all: well, I suppose we could let Lombardia in. I follow Severoslavia's example.

From now on Lombardia is an official member of "European Christian Alliance". We extend our invitations to any other European Christian nations.
To Polia:
What is your reply to our previous message?

Britannia will happily become a member of the Christian alliance, we were unaware of its existance.

Shaka had big plans for the Zulu Empire.

"Ngambwa!"
"Yes, King."
"I have an excellent idea!"
"What is it, great one?"
His chief medicine man, Ngambwa, looked interested.
"Do you know that burning powder that Sinhalese merchant sold us yesterday?"
"Yes, King. Marvelous, it is. What about it?"
"The northern tribes are very superstitious. I believe that we can coerce them to join the Empire if we show them this wonder. They will think it is magic, and will do anything I wish of them."
"An excellent idea, indeed, King. If we show them it, word will spread of this "magic" and the whole group of northern tribes will flock to Zimbabwe seeking a better life."
"We shall send small groups of soldiers with this powder to carry out the plan. Hurry, there is no time to waste!"
Like I said, Shaka had big plans.

Zulu Empire Orders: Spend both eco points on encouraging education, ie. learning the new writing system/ learning about how the world works, etc.
Begin project: Iron Reniassance- Shaka thinks that metal can be used for more than weapons. This project will begin giving our soldiers armor, chainmail etc., metal will start being used for containers, farming implements, and other things. Also, begin encourging the people to practice widepread cultivation of crops to feed our growing cities.

The Ascension of Tokugawa, the Secession from an Empire
OOC: Das, may I please get stats for Tokugawa by PM?

1260 CE - The Age of discovery, but for Japan, the age of strife. This period would be forever known in history for its bloody conflicts amongst the Japanese people. The Japanese empire, once whole, had split. The former Divine Monarchy was no longer divine, as warlords vied for power. One warlord in particular, had his eyes on the Divine throne, to become Shogun and rule with the emperor in Edo, who was no longer in any control, and was only a puppet....

Tokugawa based himself in Kyushu, and quickly destroyed his rival warlords using the latest tactics and weaponry. Tokugawa was quick to adopt new tactics, unlike his rivals, who were blinded by the pursuit of honor and divine acceptance, and swore only to use the sword and bow. Tokugawa sought to reunify Japan, and to make Japan a great power, to defeat the Juang barbarians and to restore the Divine monarchy.

Tokugawa's Teppo Ashigaru (New UU)

Using the latest weaponry, The Teppo ashigaru are the core of Tokugawa's armies. After the importation of Sinhalese muskets into Japanese culture, many abhored this weapons, but Tokugawa gladly adopted them. His Ashigaru corps, recruited from the peasent and merchant classes and made into professional soldiers. They are strictly trained and are drilled in the art of musketry and artillery. Their musket units are aligned into 3 rows for maximum effiecency and they keep a constant stream of fire. Their artillery crews are trained for the fastest reload times possible, they are loyal to Tokugawa, and they are excellent soldiers, albiet not as good in swordplay as their sometimes egotistical samurai overlords.

To the Puppet Emperor of Edo

Great lord, I, Tokugawa Ieyasu, am forced to seceed from the empire. This divine monarchy has become nothing more than a puppet state ruled by the warlords in your court. We regret to inform you that we are now a seperate nation, surrender to the revolution and Japan will be whole once more.

To the People of Japan

Dear honorable people of Japan, This empire has become nothing more than a foul state ruled by warlords and ministers. The emperor is corrupt, and drains our farmers of their rice daily, to pay for his extravagance and to pay for his greedy samurai warlords that he thinks will protect him from the Juang barbarians. The only way to protect Japan is to honor its people. I implore you to join me in rebellion and reinstate the true monarchy, ruled by a divine emperor. I only seek to rebuild Japan, but I am not divine, for this, we must instate a new emperor of divine blood, to rule in the name of the Japanese people.

Following his grand return to the capital, King Ashoka announced that he would be sailing to Kyushu to sign a formal alliance with their Japanese friends, the Tokugawa.

A speech to the uberpatriotic and nation personified people
A enemy warlord has disgraced Japanese Honor! He uses forgieners to settle a score that honorbaly should be man to man (or nation to nation in this matter). I call on the people of the lands to overthrow this dishonorable fool before he opens Japan up the wretched Juang Chinese so that they can do as they did long ago and exploit our civil wars for their own gain. Do you want war? Of course not! Japan is more prosperous than ever! Our great armies control the entire Archipelago of Japan and we are expanding at an alarming rate. But the fool Togukawa wishes to detroy all tradition and open oursleves up to the power hungry Juang empire. Any honorable and sane men will join me in fighting this menace before his civil war causes the downfall of the entire Japanese empire.

The Emperor speaks like a true puppet! His warlords would like to see nothing less than Japan closed from foriegners and closed to the outside world, ready for invasion when the world has become superior. I am patriotic, but only to my nation, only to Japan, for this emperor is not divine. Japan does not have enough money for extravangent plans of expansion and conquest. We must defend ourselves from the Juang and boost our treasury, not spend and spend until the people are starving!

An alliance with the Sinhalese will be beneficial to both parties, and Tokugawa Ieyasu signs this. Do not believe the Emperor's lies, their is much to share in this alliance. Together both nations will prosper.

We are in no way "closing ourselves to foreigners" but in this case we do not dishonor ourselves by having others do the ditry work for us, we fight like true men. As for isolationist policies, this is all bull, but our top priortity has been to keep the warlike Juang from conquering our great nation.

We would no overlook the Sinhalese, and beseech them to cease aiding rebels lest they forever tranish our relations
