NES2 III – Tanks, Nukes and Polar Bears

Mecca Holy News

Imam Ali Ibn Fazal's sermon was rather fiery. He called for the unification of all Islamic nations. A Dar al Islam that would be able to stand on its own legs against the powers of the world. The Imam also wanted to wage a jihad to free Muslims currently under the oppression of Dar al harb states. His sermon will be undoubtedly broadcasted to the entire Muslim world. The reaction is undeterminable, though they should be rather interesting.

Fine, but I was looking in to buying your African territory as well after the payments to Germany were made.
To: Hans Vandenburg Sudafrika
From: Premier Antonio Salazar of Portugal
We are glad that you could accept our offer. We shall bring this deal up for renewal in 5 years time if that is acceptable?

On the issue though of our African territories there is no amount of money for which we would trade them. As a huge source of income and the backbone of the Portuguese Empire we have no interest in any deal that would see them being handed over to another nation.

We fully understand. These are turbulent times we live in, and alliances can be dangerously, if improperly managed. How about a NAP and trade agreement, as the first step towards greater cooperation between our nations?

To: President Jozsef Császár of Hungary
From: Premier Antonio Salazar of Portugal
We can agree to such a deal. I hope this shall better Portugal's stance in Eastern Europe and encourage a new age of cooperation between our nations.
Yours,
Antonio Salazar

Splendid. I too hope that this agreement will lead to further cooperation between our nations.

ORDERS to be PMed shortly.

Nations Mourns the Death of the Empress

Her Imperial Majesty the Empress Zauditu of Abyssinia has passed away, dying quietly in her bed yesterday, March 1st, 1930. Preparations are underway for the burial of Her Imperial Majesty, which will be open to the public for all who wish to farewell she who ruled Abyssinia for many years. King Haile Selassie has promised that all who wish to attend the burial of his cousin the Empress will be permitted.

The process of succession is already underway. One week after the burial of Her Majesty, King Haile Selassie will succeed her as Emperor of Abyssinia; plans for the coronation ceremony are also underway. King Haile has already promised the widespread reforms that he was famous for in his years as Crown Prince and King under the Empress, and has promised to continue the modernization of the nation of Abyssinia while respecting its culture.

To: King Haile Salassie of Abyssinia
From: Palmiro Togliatti of Italy

I would like to attend the funeral of your esteemed cousin. We encourage the Abyssinian people to pursue their independance and although they are a capitalist state we would like to extend the olive branch by apologising for the fascist occupation of your country years ago.

To King Haile Salassie of Abyssinia:
From President Joszef Császár of Hungary:

I, along with the People of Hungary, offer my most heartfelt condolences to Abyssinia and your family for the death of Her Majesty the Empress. I should like to personally attend Her Majesty's funeral, and, if you will hear it, have a proposal to make. To pay our respects to the late Empress Zaudito, Hungary and her WACL allies offer an Honor Guard, consisting of troops from all WACL nations, to escort the late Empress's casket. What say you to this, my friend?

Again, my sincere condolences for your loss.

If Hitler had been coddled by some British fasci. then it's possible he'd 'ave moved there I guess?

New Tank Research Underway

the protoype for a new tank dubbed the M40 has just rolled off the assembly line in Taranto. Our correspondants were there watching the great vehicle at its trial run. "There was a bunker built by some engineers" our reporter wrote "Targets shaped as soldiers hudled inside. The main turret on the tank oscilated with a mettalic groan and then BANG!! The shell impounded sending bricks and cardboard enemies flying in all directions, then the yet un-painted vehicle peppered the rubble with it's machine gun". The vehicle was inspiring, a true testimony to the growing prospereity of Italy.
