Tukulor Empire
Capital: Hambdullahi
Ruler: 'Umar Tal
Government: Theocracy
Centralization: Federation
Tech. Level: Early Industrial Age
Army (Training): 31 divisions (Better), 5 irregular divisions
Navy (Training): None yet.
Economy: Good Enough (+2)
Leadership (Military/Civilian): Competent/Better
Infrastructure: Improving
Education: Well Educated
Culture: Hyperpatriotic
Confidence: Admiring
Projects: Westernized Economy (+2 Economy) (Done!)
Nation Background: As European intrusions into Africa intensified, tensions in the Dark Continent itself incraesed greatly, and this allowed and in a way forced al-Hajj Umar to lead his Jihad to found a theocratic, vigorous, but rather unstable empire. Will it last, or, as common wisdom would suggest, cease to exist within but a few years?

Holla.

There's no real need to argue anymore. This will be solved on the battlefield.

Indeed.To Arms Brethren!!!1!!!111!!!11!!

OOC:Thlayli are we done with the planning/schemeing?Can I send orders?

What diplo and when are orders due?

1889 recently made a thread where he commented on the lack of diplomacy appearing in NESs, and number of people responded by indicating that most diplomacy goes on behind the scenes in PM and IM form, and the fact that he is surrounded by NPCs and Barbs being why he has not had much yet. That'll probably change now there is a PC next door to him.

Orders are due tuesday 3pm GMT

@ Dis, Actually the problem was more that people don't seem to respond to PMs, at least not to mine.

To Tukulor
From Sokoto

Now that the great Niger River is free of the disruptive influence of local tribal chiefs, let us promote trade between our nations by eliminating tariffs, formalizing taxes and entry customs and welcoming traders and caravans who bring the goods that grow our economies.

FROM SOKOTO
TO TUKULOR

Very well, we agree. We will seek cooperation from you on many other things. :)

Somehow we are not much comforted by that.

I was supposed to have Edirne! That's all I want. It was what I asked for, and Persia agreed, but Thlayli sent the wrong map.

If you can just give me that ONE city I can guarantee you that there will be no war between our countries.

Turkey will lose more than just Edirne if they insist to go to war against Bulgaria

I'm trying to avoid war here. It hasn't served me very well lately. :D

I'm just seeing if Reno will sympathize with my situation and hand over ONE border city that I thought would be mine but through an unfortunate mistake wasn't.

King George V recommends to his brother in Bulgaria to not give up a single inch to the Persian puppets.

Reno said that

We have vodka...
...and samogon! Although, vodka... sorry, wydka in this world is more associated with Poland than with anything else...

And yes, Edward did become king, or rather will when Reno will post the coronation story.

It will come in due time.

Sorry no go. I won't hand it over freely.

Date line Aug 21st 1869, Port Ramat.

Many have wondered why Sokoto needs a fleet, but people like Captain Crisco Colombo and the crew of the Bitungu are determined to demonstrate the value of Sokoto’s maritime ambitions.

When asked why he would embark on such a risible expedition Captain Colombo had this to say. “Well the way I see it is Sokoto got to this game late, right? I mean all the other nations already got their famous explorers and what not. Like heroes, ya’ know. So in a sense, I’m doin’ it for the kids.”

“So you hope to inspire a new generation to expand the frontiers of knowledge and seek new challenges for themselves?”

“Ya, except don’t try to discover the new world because I’ll already have done that.”

“In fact hasn’t that been done already?”

“Ya, but I’m not taking a map so it’s like doing it from scratch, see?”

Epilogue

At 2:35 PM on a Tuesday afternoon Captain Colombo sailed the Bitungu out of Port Ramat carrying the hopes of a nation and half a pack of cards.

Shortly after loosing sight of land the crew was startled by the glare of the sun. Luckily a Federate merchantman was able to render aid and escort the stricken vessel back to port.

Many crewmen are being treated for hyperventilation. Captain Colombo himself suffered a mild case of thirst and a broken peg leg. He has vowed to return to sea as soon as his injuries heal.

Don't forget to PM all the treaties to me this time, at least. You don't have to send all details, only those that you want me to actually notice. :p
