NES2 VI - Last Semblance of Order.

OOC:

why exactly is my popularity STILL dipping?

They hate you out of principle now. :p That and you still are being too temporal for a Pope, in their opinion, what's with all those dealings with the Protestant Krakowians...

@das, did you do all of the military increases from last turn that you forgot? I cant remember what the stat difference would be so I dunno.

Ofcourse I did.

how did i lose 7 divisions?

You got volunteers for the colonizing expedition. On which they went.

As for the government, it fell, as the Nationalist Party schismed over the issue.

you ordered the capture of de Sousa in your orders

He did ORDER it; rather harder to actually execute such an order, as generals tend to be well-guarded...

1. What is the current state of explosive technology(i.e. most advanced explosives availible)

Black gunpowder. :p But nitroglyciline is likely to appear soon.

4. Are the people of my nation devotely Catholic, or just all Catholic?

All Catholic, and many devout.

From: Papal States
To: Portugal

Explain how that would allow MORE rebellions? Southern Italy is catholic, devoutly so, and putting them in with the head of the Catholic world (representedtly speaking) and closer towards a united Italy should REDUCE rebellions I would think...

@das, oh snap...well, are they such pricks that they cant stand me dealing with anyone BUT catholics? How do they expect to stay alive as a nation? :p

Just say the pope died of old age when they get unpopular, I mean they are all really old anyway.

Honestly enough, they do not care much for the temporal authority of the Pope. In fact, they hate it, so maybe that's their intention.

Well, would it be possible to place the Pope as a Queen-like figure as modern Britain does, except the Pope having his popelike influences? And then just run the country as a slightly more holy Italy, ran by a different ruler (although Im not entirely sure of that leaders title)?

@emu, thats a really.....really good idea ;)

With Paris' renovation coming to a close, the French nation wishes to hold a celebration of our city and of the world as a whole. Therefore, we are holding L'Exposition Universelle or the Universal Exposition, in the coming year (this turn). We invite delegations from all of your nations, and hope eagerly that you will attend.

A Day at the Vatican
Shamas O'Doull strode into the Vatican, passing the ceremonial Guards, seeing as they knew of his arrival. He then took a seat in a very fine and compfy chair, awaiting his audience with the Pope.

A few minutes later, a rather holy looking person told him he could enter the chambers. Walking in, he was taken by the Magnificence of the Papal Chambers. He fell to his knees and prayed to Mary to give him strength. A deep booming, but feeble voice in the Chamber said simply "Rise." Yet its command was evident. Shamas picked himself up off the ground and adressed his holyiness, The Pope. "Your Holiness, in whom God alone holds his confidence, I as a representative of King Cameron I of The Kingdom of Ireland, come humbly to adress you on matters of the true faith and its temporal base." Shamas looked up, and the pope mearly flicked his hand in a sign of contiuence. Shamas started up again, "The King of Ireland, a now devote Catholic nation, suggests and wishes for the following. He is very alarmed by the slacking Catholic faith in the world. He suggests that a Allaince of the Catholic Nations be formed, on the intiative of the Pope, to protect and expand the interests of the other. The nations could include Spain, and The Kingdom of Ireland, and would include provisions for the protection fo any Catholic nations that pop up. We would be sworn to protect all Cathloic Nations and would work to ensure the freedom of Catholic Nations. He also wishes that at Frances Universal Expostion, The Pope Coronate King Cameron, King of the Celts and Ruler and Holy Protector of Ireland."

The Pope looked intrested.......

I would love to attend such a endeavor of my staunch ally.

Krakow is not a catholic nation. To include it in such an alliance is preposterous. The alliance, as a whole, does not do much to impress us, as the Pope and Spain are both rivals to France, though we accept it as a religious bond IF it is completely defensive in nature. However, we will protest the inclusion of Krakow.

I will get Krakow out. I was cross referncing it with mostly Catholic nations in OTL, and a large portion of the lands of Krakow(like 60%) are almost entirely Catholic on OTL. And the nature of a theoreticla allaince would be up to the Pope, but the Irish hope that it would be an Alliance for the Protection of Catholic Intrests in the World and of Economic Cooperation.

????? I could have sworn that France was Protestant in this Alt-history... Oh well, this is why The Irish leave it up to the pope. We do not have Papal infallibility on our side. I also wrote the story on notepad while on a bus last night at 11:30.
