I'm up to my usual tricks. Stuff, srry!!! And its sunny today.
I will [EDIT: try to] update this evening. I'm eager to see how things progress. Multiple human encounters this turn.
Shark livers, hmm.
ALSO: I meant to say, I recognise the votes saying Nay on more AP per turn, and Nay on some kind of beacon/locator for finding other people. I agree. So it shall be.
Update IS coming in a few hours. A couple of things: I have been creatively self-pleasuring with pixel graphics. You can enjoy some nice new plants and critters. But this is something I should stop doing for a few updates and it will make things go quicker. Also, I'm pretty much at the limit of simultaneous players now, more for the difficulty of mentally keeping track of all the player characters than the actual time taken to update.
Nonetheless, I've added Thlayli to the game, and may also add either TerrisH or Eltain (the second coming) depending on how things look at the end. There is at least one death occurring this turn.
Immaculate: You spend the morning foraging, again without great results – you have already harvested the local area of edible greens several times over. But your forager instincts lead you to a few morsels of food. As you wander, you see a bipedal shape in the south-west, obscured by the bamboo. You lose sight of the figure and begin to question yourself, are there really others like you? Or was it just another panda? Some strange thoughts and feelings come to mind. But in any case, you have work to do! By the afternoon, you have crafted a hoe to use in ploughing and gardening, and are out planting some seeds. You create two garden patches before night begins to fall. Overnight, it begins to rain and the wind picks up, making you very glad of your shelter. You are awoken early by a deep loud rumbling, though it still seems gloomy. A full blown storm is raging overhead today, threatening to flood your brand-new garden, and testing the strength of your bamboo dwelling. You have 3AP.
Lord of Elves: You spend the morning foraging, taking care to avoid the lions. You find a few handfuls of seeds and crunchy insects to keep you going. You have heavy work in the afternoon, lugging your lumber up the hill and beginning construction of a dwelling for yourself. While working, you see what looks like another human figure in the distance, just visible down in the south between clumps of tall bamboo, working away and digging in the ground. Is there someone else in this world? Before you can think too much about it, night falls, the weather turns and you take what shelter you can in your half-built home. The night is increasingly stormy, and you get no sleep as you are battered by wind and rain blowing in from the south. Dawn brings more of the same, looking like a stormy day ahead – at least you will not be flooded out on the hilltop. You have 3AP (-1 tiredness and exposure, +1 Energetic).
North King: You spend the morning wandering and foraging, ending up roughly south-west of your start point. You reach the coast of a salty sea, and see at least one large island in the west. During the hot afternoon, you rest in the shade of bamboo and meditate for inspiration. You feel a storm coming to refresh the land, and find a sheltered spot at the base of a hill that is out of the way of the worst winds and rain. You awake with 3AP.
Omega124
Today, you have the firm desire to build. You spend the morning crafting a fine pickaxe, and the rest of the day is spent breaking up stones and hauling them up a hill. It is back-breaking work, but as night falls you have laid the foundations of a sturdy stone house. You settle down for a well-earned rest at your campfire. Wolves howling in the distance stir a faint feeling of loneliness in you, as you drift off to sleep. But this night is not so cold, and you sleep well.
You awake with 3AP (getting hungry).
~ The Wolf Forest ~
Merciary: You have a busy morning, crafting yourself a new spear and a back-pack from boar hide, which seems more durable than the deer hide. You are feeling well equipped to go hunting in the afternoon. You track several boar through the woods and meadows, but each hunt ends in frustration, on one occasion betrayed by skittish birds in the trees above. More experience has been gained, but luck is just not with you today. Your backpack does however come in handy for gathering some apples on the way back to camp, as you find some trees in full fruit. There you meet her again, on your turf. This time, you are both more eager to approach. You greet each other and begin to talk – instantly she has you Charmed. She offers you a fish-bone necklace for good measure. The least you can do in return is share some of your apples, and half of your deer hide to keep warm by the fire, though there remains a slight wariness between you. The wolves do not appear this night. You awake with 4AP (+1 well rested).
Lord_Herobrine: You venture north to find the stranger, carrying a fish-bone necklace you have spent all morning making. It is a long walk through the woods and meadows, seeking the place where you had seen a distant fire in the night. You arrive just as the sun is beginning to set again. You see his fire and his deer hide, but he is not there. You are about to leave when he appears out of nowhere, startling you. Nonetheless, you stand your ground and offer him your gift as you greet each other. You seem to put each other at ease, and he shares fruit with you from his backpack. You spend a mostly comfortable night by the fire, sharing half a deer hide blanket for extra warmth. You wake with 3AP. Your legs continue to mend, as despite all the walking, they are just a little sore this morning.
~ The Cold Lands ~
Nintz: You brave the cold air and cold water to go fishing. You catch but a single small fish, which you devour greedily. The air is not as bitterly cold as yesterday, but pain and exhaustion are suddenly overwhelming. You are ready to collapse as you return to the cave. Luckily for you, you find another human is already there, and has already lit the fire to warm the place up. Too tired to talk, fight or argue, you simply curl up and pass out by the fire. You survive another night, but pull through with just 1AP. Your body is exhausted, yet ravenously hungry, demanding fuel and nourishment after losing so much to the cold and also trying to heal its wounds.
Optical: You venture into the south-east, leaving your camp behind and searching for the source of the fire you have seen in the distance. You make good progress, grateful for a slightly-less-cold day upon your exposed skin, and you crunch on pine nuts along the way, something to ease the hunger in your stomach. By mid-day you have found a cave with a burnt-out fire – this must be the place. There is no-one here however, so you briefly re-light the fire and then fetch some twigs and plant fibres, to begin crafting yourself some animal snares. You do not have time to set them before night begins to fall; it is then another human arrives at the cave, staggering towards the fire! Suddenly on edge, you try to talk, but can barely get any words out of the stranger before he collapses. He seems to be starving, but you are hungry yourself, barely in better shape, and the night outside is breezy and freezing. You settle down to rest, getting as comfortable as you can on the cave floor, saving your energy for tomorrow. You awake with 2AP (-1 hunger and exposure).
Alex994
After a morning of meditation, you set out westwards to hunt the goats you have seen roaming the mountainside. As you get closer, you notice the entrance to a large cave you had not seen before. The view across the bay is spectacular from the heights. Then you see an enormous eagle swoop down and carry away one of the hapless goats, scattering the remainder in panic, and making your heart stop. Are the spirits playing tricks on you? It seems hopeless to keep hunting now. Yet on the way back down the mountainside, you come across the carcass of another young goat that had fallen down a ravine in panic. You are able to skin the beast and carry away a chunk of meat before night falls.
Before sleeping, you cook and eat some of the goat meat. It is enough to fill your stomach, and you are glad of the goat hide to keep the chilly wind off your skin. You feed a few scraps to the fox before settling down to sleep, slightly worried by the cries of giant eagles in the distance. You have 4AP (+1 quite well fed and rested).
~ The Lakelands ~
tuxedohamm: you mediate during the morning, asking for protection and guidance during the day's foraging. Your companion has recovered his strength by mid day. Both of you wish to forage, and thus go forth armed with sticks and a set of stone tools. Again, it seems you are fortunate to have been blessed; fruit, seeds, tubers and shellfish are all offered up by the land, enough to feed you both well, although you feel keenly aware that such foraging will not be found everyday in the same place. Today you venture a little to the south, and see a river bounding you, flowing away to the west and what looks like yet another body of water. At night, you get as comfy as you can by the fire - and passion takes over as you snuggle with the charming male, leading to a very powerful experience. You wake with 3AP, feeling new energy flowing through you... Life develops fast in this world; you are now pregnant, and ravenously hungry!
Angst: you doze through the morning, lethargic from lack of food. By mid-day your companion is ready to go foraging, and you naturally join her, armed only with broken sticks. You spot bears and wolves in the distance, but they keep their distance, and you stumble upon plenty of food to fill you up; with her, everything seems to flow easily. At night, you and the mystical woman seduce each other by the campfire. Though, you are maybe not quite prepared for what follows. You have 3AP.
~ The River Crossing ~
Patchy: You venture directly north during the cool of the morning. You find a shallow crossing point across the large river. Crocodiles block the way, but you use them for slingshot practise, and they eventually retreat. You cross the ford, remaining wary. On the oppose side of the river, you meet another human! You are able to talk to each other and exchange greetings. Though confused and wary of each other, you realise that you both intend to go foraging for food, and so you help each other during the afternoon. The sun beats down, quickly making things exhausting. You gather only a few seeds and roots before retreating to the shelter of a tree to rest. The stranger stays up to light a fire, you however are now very tired. You keep your blanket for yourself and get comfortable in your own branch. You awake with 2AP, though quite well-rested, you are feeling rather hungry.
Vertinari118: The morning passes while you watch and wait, besieged by crocodiles below. The crocs begin to stir around mid-day, but by now your Braveheart instinct kicks in, and you manage to drive away the remainder with your stone spear. At the same time, a human figure appears quite unexpectedly, draped in snake skin and linen, crossing the shallows from the opposite bank, slingshot in hand... You are fixed to the spot! After a confused first conversation, you agree to help each other foraging during the afternoon. It is a hot and tiring day, and neither of you find much food. By evening, you seek shelter and have to return to the same tree you started at – hoping no unexpected guests arrive. You stay up into the night, building and lighting a fire. The smoke drives away insects and takes the chill off the cool night, but by now your companion is already fast asleep with her blanket. You have only a few moments rest before day dawns. The past two days of being out in the mid-day sun, with little food and little sleep, have taken their toll on you. You have 2AP.
Milarqui
You set out to hunt a dire boar. Attempting to attract its attention by throwing rocks, you hit it and cause it to run away, while whining furiously. You follow up the prey, stone knife and spear at the ready. As you catch up with the boar in a meadow, it decides to turn tail and fight for its life, charging right at you. You prepare to strike, but in an instant it rears up powerfully. Tusks as large as your forearm are driven deep into your torso, thrusting up from under your ribcage, and quickly ripped out again. There is no time to feel pain, only shock and pressure, fading into a soothing white light. Barely a moment passes before you collapse, surrounded by beautiful flowers, rivers of blood flowing from your chest. You have wounded the boar, but it survives to begin gnawing at your convulsing body. You look on with a sense of detachment; you are now free from this mortal cage.
You have become a Ghost.
Seon
You forage and gorge yourself on mushrooms. Raw, orange-gold coloured mushrooms. Although not unpalatable, they have a unique, bitter taste. It is only about an hour later that the nausea kicks in... An awful, agonising sickness grips your whole body, while you retreat to the shade of the tree branches. At some point in the afternoon, you fall unconscious – only waking up the next day, your face leaning in a pool of vomit. But, you have clung to life. The nearby giant orang-utans have guarded you, scaring off any predators that came close. Although you are still in considerable pain, you feel purged and purified, and strangely focused. You are wary of predators remaining nearby, and gigantic animals wandering the plain. You also notice dark clouds over the eastern horizon, accompanied by a deep rumbling sound.
You have 2AP (-1 hunger and pain).
theDright
You have a successful and uneventful day; building a sheltered campfire near the top of the hill, and finding fruit, seeds and insects to eat. You roast some particularly large insect grubs by the fire before getting to sleep. You are rather comfortable with the blanket and fire to keep the night's chill off your body, feeling safer and with fewer insects than down on the plain. After skipping sleep the previous day, you have some well-needed rest.
You awake with 3AP. You are rather cautious of a noisy troop of large baboon-apes that have occupied the area you foraged in yesterday.
J.K. Stockholme
To find suitable stone for your new spear, you head westwards, onto the dusty plain where you have seen a rocky outcrop. At noon, you feel the sun burn on your skin once again. You are painfully hungry, but decide to catch up on some rest, and focus on finding food tomorrow. You at least find a handful of seeds as you head towards a tree for shelter, still accompanied by your curious rabbit friend. The evening is uncomfortable, full of biting insects, and the roar of lions in the distance, but you are able to get some rest.
You have ventured a little to the north-west. By the light of dawn, you can see a huge expanse of mist-draped wetland stretching all across the northern horizon, with herds of animals feasting on swamp grass. You have 2AP (-1 hunger).
MoreEpicThanYou
You begin the day by crafting a stone-tipped spear. During the afternoon, you brave a cold wind and cold water to go fishing in the river. You do not have much luck, having to stay clear of some angry-looking giant moose, and find only a few shellfish and berries to keep you going during the day. As evening falls, you try to make friends with wild horses you have seen roaming the plains. You are able to get quite close, but they keep their distance and eventually disappear into the dusk - leaving you out on the open grassland, freezing cold and lost in the dark, with wolves and tigers prowling in the shadows. Your night is spent on the run, looking for some kind of shelter. You eventually find a group of pine trees, and have only a few moments rest before the sun rises.
SpoilerCrafty :
You have the idea of crafting a Fishing Pole using sticks and String from grass, but this would take a total of 2AP!
By the light of dawn, you can see a line of cliffs in the north-east, broken by a scenic waterfall and the flow of yet another river. You are not sure where you have ended up in relation to yesterday, all you know is that you are tired and cold. You now see two landmark mountain peaks, on the western and south-eastern horizons. You have 2AP (-1 exhaustion and cold).
thomas.berubeg
First thing upon arriving in this world, you seek to arm yourself with a stone axe. It is a blazing sunny day, with a gentle salty breeze rolling in from the waves, as you wander along the golden sandy beach, looking for some suitable rocks. You find some beneath some trees, not far from shore. But you have a Lucky escape as a giant snake attempts to ambush you. You are able to craft yourself an axe by mid-day.
Under the scorching sun, you go running north-east along the beach, increasingly grateful for that cooling breeze. You are able to collect some fruits and shellfish along the way. As evening approaches, you are exhausted. You make your way inland to find a sheltered tree to sleep in, cautious of shapes moving in the looming shadows. You do not get much sleep, for fear of the strange noises echoing around you, and the many biting insects assaulting your skin.
You are stirred by the dawn chorus. As the sun rises, you can see that you are not far from the inland edge of the jungle, where a dry dusty plain stretches into the north. A large plateau also rises in the north-west. You have 3AP, but are still feeling tired from yesterday.
Popcornlord
While you search for suitable rocks with which to craft a spear, you disturb a resting leopard. You beat a hasty retreat. You have only a pointy stick with which to go fishing, nonetheless you persist and eventually have some luck, catching yourself a juicy fish. After a day in the hot sun, you are exhausted. You settle down in the tall grass for the night. You are being constantly attacked by insects, and finally you are disturbed by the screams of a boar being eaten by crocodiles on the other side of the river. After that, you decide to seek the shelter of a tree for the rest of the night.
You have 3AP, not especially well rested or well fed.

Thlayi
You are on a high rocky plateau, punctuated by numerous mountain peaks, and seems to rise to an even higher plateau in the north. The wind is either fairly mild, or bitterly cold, depending on whether it gusts from the south or north. In general, you are feeling painfully cold. A smaller plateau rises in the west, beyond which seems to be a large body of water (larger than the lake you see close by). There is a range of rolling hills stretching from the east to the south-west horizon, with hints of water behind. Large winged shapes cruise with the winds in the skies above, sending piercing cries that echo from the mountainsides. You have 3AP.
Now – Day 5 Begins
FARMING: Official rules to follow, something like this:
SpoilerFARMING :
1AP to build a hoe (need access to wood/sticks and stone). Then 1AP to plant at least one garden/crop patch. So long as you are on green terrain (not desert, rock, ice, etc), you can find seeds and plant something edible – feel free to specify crops or vegetables if you wish.
It is then 1AP to tend at least one patch. For best results, do this once per day, following planting. Untended patches could still produce food, but not as much, if any.
Finally, it is 1AP to harvest. A patch could feed several people for a day, or one person for several days, if there is a place to store food (like a dwelling, or a backpack).
1AP could be invested in storm-proofing a dwelling or other shelter!
@Popcornlord, meditating to the gods/mana/sprits/god is an action worthy of 1AP in itself, so I just had you fish instead.
@Lord of Elves, sharpening an axe is not really a detail I want to get into at this time. It didn't take 1AP anyway. I used your AP productively based on your orders.
Please feel free to comment with ideas, thoughts, questions and suggestions, as well as orders for Day 5.
1AP - Through the rain, attempt to finish construction of my dwelling. Alternatively, throw myself into a comfortable-looking ditch and wait for the rains to subside.
1AP - Hack down more wood, pick up a nearby rock, and attempt to fashion a spear.
1AP - Spear in hand and axe sheathed, go southwest and investigate the mysterious personthing. Attempt to make contact, and exchange pleasantries in our unnamed tongue.
1: Heheheh, that was fun, we have our first pregnancy...
2: Why did I die? Damn, one of the most brilliant minds in this new world is now dead. Well, I'll stay on the queue to reincarnate...
Well, what to do in this update...
- Start moving towards the west. If I find someone, try to find a way to communicate with him/her, or possess an animal to do so.
Working on an official list of players, traits, ages (days survived in-game), and equipment. I think this will be a google document thing that I will just link to from the first page, if that is convenient (its easy for me to update that way).
Tux got pregnant because he and Angst seemed quite happy to snuggle up together and Angst is a Charming guy. But in general you will have a say in whether to romance people or not!
We've had a few updates focusing on the trials of basic survival. I am thinking to gloss over the repetitive parts from this point on, so don't expect so much wordage in the updates about eating and sleeping. I'll focus on things like encounters, building and crafting new things. Also, I *CAN* update more than once a week - I spent ages on making new sprites this time, which I will leave alone now (until new continents are being explored - and I already have a lot of strange animal sprites from DaftNESIV like the Chocobos and Terror Birds to meet later).

Not to force anyone down any paths, but I do want to point out that hunting, fishing and gathering will all tend to be easier when working with others - more pairs of eyes, more chances to spear the same prey, a group of humans will scare away other predators etc etc. However, a skilled hunter relying on stealth should probably only work alone or with other skilled hunters.
