This is very serious business we return to. Long may the Panda prosper and eat crunchy bamboo!

Regarding your suggested changes Daft, I would caution you to avoid adding too much magic. So far the mystic benefits, the creatures, etc, have all been creative and made the game more enjoyable; but I violently oppose, for example, simply throwing in elves, or having random magical items as rewards. If there are to be magical items they should ALL be justified by player actions, rather than simply found - I would also caution you to make sure NPC civilizations aren't too full with their own histories as well, as it again rather detracts from the world-building experience.

More bountiful finds for exploration (along with appropriate levels of risk) sound good. Non-human sentient being that are NOT generic insertions from most other fantasy (elves, orcs, goblins, dragons, giant spiders, etc), but contextually relevant or at least more creative and less common I would agree with (like whatever was going on with Milarqui). I fully support portals, though I think it'd be fun if they weren't just laying around in random places, but also could be constructed by players.

Excited for what comes next.

* Increasing the magic side of things, while technology is primitive - entities may appear to help or just interact with those players who are isolated (and you could even be impregnated by elf people from Otherworld)?

The problem I have with this, is that we've barely begun to explore the magic system as it is. We only have one sizable shrine so far? (my memory may be faulty on this one) My point being that there isn't much need to significantly expand something that is going to end up expanding on its own anyway.

As for another part of that: I'm not to keen on a "make NPCs to interact with isolated players just for the sake of interacting with isolated player" thing. Or at least not done to that extent. Sure, it's a lot harder to get by than if you're in the group, but my opinion is that you shouldn't go further than just giving them slightly better luck, if anything at all.

* Rewarding exploration - food cashes, special fruits and vegetables - perhaps even enchanted locations, magical items to be found?

Yes, but not that overdone imo. There should definitely be the occasional things to stumble across (like the glowy cave that I forget who found), but in my opinion:
1. They should not be the norm, but rather just the occasional lucky find.
2. They should for the most part not be pre-processed things (food; items that can be picked up and made use of right away), but instead things that require a bit of something (time / effort / technology / co-operation / etc) to properly exploit.

* Non-human, sentient beings are roaming the world - other branches of the Hominid family, and perhaps bizarre other beings as well. NPC civilizations may already exist?

Sure. I'd vote for very small NPC civilizations. I can see things working perfectly well with bigger ones as well, it'd just give the game a different feel.

* Allowing magical portals to alternate realm(s) - think the Nether from Minecraft, although some more benign ones as well. These would be separate maps, linked by portals (probably originating from enchanted monuments). 'Ghost' players and players on the waiting list could maybe hang out in those alternate realms?

Sure.

I also echo J.K. Stockholme's post.

Thankyou very much - the Space Hamsters have taken your words for contemplation.

This Friday is a major deadline for some freelance work. But the plan is to keep on a roll, keeping productive and stuff, and to crank out an update by the end of the weekend.

@Omega124, is it a concern of yours to have children? :) I'm still deliberating the rules on aging, but you are the oldest surviving female (7 turns and counting) and would probably be the first to lose your fertility.

@Alex994, got any orders to back up your claims? :)

@Eltain, if you see this, feel free to send orders too, or let me know if I can open the slot.

I would like children, but only if there's a male to impregnate me. Parthenogenesis sounds painful :p

(Also, would prefer to have fully human kids from a player as well. Being randomly impregnated by elves just seems out of character for the game. However, I'll take what I can get)

!OPEN SLOT!: Eltain has officially resigned, any takers for his spot? Everblack? I need someone willing to step in with orders ASAP.

@Alex994, your spot will also be up for auction if I don't have orders by Thursday!

Note there are likely to be a further two new slots becoming available from Herobrine's children, but the waiting list players will have priority.

---

@Omega I understand. Currently I'm leaning towards the 'magic-born' people having extended lifespans over the natural-born, so you could roam the world for many turns yet. Especially considering your healthy lifestyle and spiritual practises :)

Sure I'll take his place.

Orders
1AP- Pray that the hyenas go away
1AP- Eat some fruit from the tree if I can reach any of them
1AP - Throw some fruit on to the ground to see if the hyenas want them
1AP- Rest

Not going to lie I dont like Eltain position right now

!!1!!FREE SPOT:!!!111 Alex994 has resigned, his player is available if anyone wants to jump straight in with orders! 6 days old Female with Robust build, Spiritual, Lucky traits.

You spend the morning eating and gathering up berries from the small island you had drifted to. The endless chatter of giant penguins and sea lions begins to wear at your senses, and so in the afternoon you push out to sea once again, somewhat aimlessly. Though the sea is fairly calm, you feel painfully exposed to the forces of nature. Wind and waves return you to your starting point, but there is a sense of unease; the great mountain continues to smoulder and rumble. You collapse to sleep as night falls. You are awoken by a violent explosion at dawn; rocks fall from the sky, and the mountain appears to be on fire. But a comforting feeling emanates from your totem - perhaps this turmoil will soon pass. You have 3AP, weakened by exposure to sea winds, and have: Stone Tools, Stone Spear, Backpack, 1x Pink Berries.

^you also have a boat Raft nearby on the beach.

I'm aiming to update today, may be delayed by possible socialising this evening.

@Everblack, since Eltain was a newish character, you have the option of choosing different bonus traits (any 2 from here). Currently you have Braveheart, Energetic.
