NESLife attempt #3

Burrowing Zeeboo
Evolved from: Mountain Zeeboo

Genes added: Roots x2, Mineral eating x1, Airborne Seeds x1
Genes removed: Water Retention -2

The Mountain Zeeboo quickly began to adapt to their environment, as such, the Burrowing Zeeboo was created. The burrowing Zeeboo's roots can grow far, far deeper than their predecessors to allow them to access much greater amount of minerals, the roots are also able to extend over greater distances. When two burrowing zeeboo's roots attach they can cooperate by exchanging minerals, water and starch and they can communicate using sounds as well as a silently through their roots, what they used this communication for is as yet uknown. With roots now able to tap into underground lakes and rivers, sheltered from freezing, the Burrowing Zeeboo no longer needs so much water retention.
If they still live on land - they must have water retention...

Royalis Jubblera: TerrisH
Evolved From: Jubblera Numerida
Genes (21): Eating Dead Things x2, Crawling x1, Complex Stomach x2, Water Retention x3, Eyes x1, Flying x3, Smelling x2, Cold Resistance x1, Acid Spit x1, Communal Behavior x4, Plant Eating x1
New Genes: Plant Eating x1, Digging x1, Communal Behavior x1, Communal intelligence x1
Description: the Royalis Jubblera was the first jubblera you show a significant departure from it's predisesor, having developed pair of small scooped manibals to dig with. and dig they did. small at first, they gradually begin to dig deeper and deeper, creating Nests to shelter them form harsh weather and the cold nights. these nests also served as excellent places for the Royalis to leave their eggs, safe from the majority of the elements and predators of the world above. while they were often ignored once they were layed until they hatched, these basic actions were the first sign of the developing communal Intelligence.

OOC:
communal Intelligence is similar to Brain power, except it is spread out across entire community. a Hive Mind, if you will. if not good, replace with Brain power.
and next update I post an Jubblera one shot offshoot. THE SCOURGE!

It means they are able to store water inside them like humans too... and like every animal that lives on that. For example Amphibians have it only in low amounts or not at all - so they need to be surrounded by water - while other animals has it so they don't need to be INSIDE water, only need to drink it... And the more you have of it, the less you need to drink... 1-2 is for EVERY animal that wants to be out of the water...

No problem, the Long Noses are still doing good!

@Charles Li, i missed your post while i was writing the update. I'll use the Reptilian Legger as your next evolution, unless you say otherwise. And about the 'pet' thing, I dont think anyone else is interested, and Im ashamed of the whole thing now :o

Ok, 'xept that REtilians would be from the Oltics now. I am copying and then revising.

Tundra Oltic Scraper: Charles Li
Evolved form : Oltic Scraper
New Genes: Cold resistance x1, Hibernation x1 Plant eating x1
Genes(22) : Skeleton x1, Jaws x1, Plant Eating x6, Swimming x2, Eyes x1, Water Retention x2, Crawling x2, Lungs x2, Walking x3, Spikes x1, Digging x1, Vibration Sense x1, Cold resistance x1, hibernation x1
Description: As the Lands where the Oltic Scraper lives grow colder, some of the hardier ones discovered that they can burrow down, Huddleing and Hibernate until the warm season. This new developent allows these Oltic Scrapers to Colonize the Tundra Arround the Oltic Sea...

@ Daft

I think my Reptiles needed at least Scales, Live birth and Parental Instincs. Also, I thin every time and species goes extinct, An last resort spinter at Cold resistance, or Hibernation, or mass production as a last chance. Only if it is updated continuesly and the chance to survive will leave many multant populations ratios.

Also, Tree Rings state that Weather usually follows 7-ear cycles. Just like the Famine's of Egypt in the Bible. I think they are like waves, continuesly crashing on the new generation to weather out suntil only the best stay to breed the next Generation. These Minor "Disasters" in some areas can torbo sharge Adaption in some highy exposed areas, and although the cycles usually folloes 50 years of: (I'll rate from 1-10 for food and 1-10 for coldness) 7 Years of 9-2, 7 years of 5-4, 7 years of 3-8, 7 Years of 7-3, 7 years of 2-9(10), 7 years of 6-5, & years of 7-6.

Or : Plenty, Ok, Chilled, Rebound, Burrrer!, Thaw out, Food diversion!....plenty....

So, Although Pazeras' weather and food patterns may be different (and often overshoot as in the case of Zeeboos), Above is what I think the patterns are. Sand paper out to make it less extreme and Volia, Super evolution!

OOC I dunno if to care for the Leggers before they die out (I want them to become mammal like) or move on with the Finners to make the Raio..

Well, i'll take Care of the Land Finners (Am I still calling them that?).... But I think Cold Retention x2 would be mamalike and then add Cardiovascular systems.... Wow....

Chapter One

The Landing

Professor Li went down on the back of an Tundra Dragon. His reports stated that there was a ferousious Supercontinant and a peaceful continent over yonder. The Mysterious continent has a curious "W" with a wide Western part. Just above the land is an isolated sea, Named Oltic after his most recent creation.

Those Friendly, Space-Dragons are very good Shuttles he thought as his troop Landed on the encroaching Glacier. He started at the Oltic Sea. Jumped onto the rocky ground... and Yelped  as he landed on an Oltic Scraper Charging away from the massive Vibrations.

He clutched at himself an started to giggle, a high pitched 6 - year old giggle that he had since 11. Then he whispered to his friend,” My friend *Giggle spurt* Tarndard. You can see those Burrows Concentrated over there? They inadvertently multiplied near food and, even though they distrust each other, can use the vibrations of a fleeing Oltic to save themselves. "

Tarndard Looking into Charles's Goofy smile: D, and Winked at his friend with his great eye ;), "My friend, See over yonder?" he pointed with his snout. "Look at those Oltics! Fleeing from the tundra, struggling to unfreeze there sore legs." Tarndard Grabbed one with his Scupper Paw. "See?" he huffed, and let the spiky creature into his burrow. "And over there! Look! Tundra Burrows!" Stated Tarndard and Picked up The professor and flew into the tundra.

After a few beats, Charles, who understand this predetermined experiment, yelled "Stop my friend! My heat-0-meter detects empty burrows." Tarndard dug into the permafrost and lifted a poor, frozen scraper.
But then a movement accrued. "Release gently!" And the Dragon's paw parted to show a struggling form, evidently waking from a Photo-Hibernation and free from ice. "It's Alive" Dragon and Dragon Keeper cried together, and they carried the poor thin the Dragon's warm pouch to a nearby moon for investigation.

Tis is still my evolution list with some changes

A nice hiberation burrower from Ol (and Oltic, including the Leggers if perfered) Scraper(+Diggin + Hiberation + cold resistance)

Or a Flyer from Double/ Arrow Finner (+ 1 Flying + Teethspear (or 2 planton)+meateating)

A last resort Cold resistance or Hibernation for an extinct species.

Mineral shells for Zeebos (Bulb roots*1 Mineral shell*1 Hibernation*1)(Creates a Land reef, A ""bulberous roots" and Hibernation means In old-shell Hiberation or comsumption of old shells for growth of new shells )

A speedy Water Predator from the Double finner would be nice (+1 jaws +1 fangs +1 meateating)

Bulberous Roots x1, Hibernation x1 and Winter sap (to protect budds)
would do good for any NCP plant that is in trouble. i advise to Novo-Tranals and some Zeebos.

Retillian would be my Main choice if the Oltic didn't thrive or is they had done better

No, Well, Now after reading the update, I have better plans....

Oltic Scraper would be a nice NPC
+legs, vibration and plant eating

Other good NCPs
A nice hiberation burrower from Ol Scraper(+Diggin + Hiberation + cold resistance)
Or a Flyer from Double Finner (+ 1 Flying + Teethspear (or 2 planton)+meateating)

Oops... I missed an evolution:(

I see what you were saying now Daft and Iggy...and everyone else.

So, here goes switching to the worms like Daft suggested. I like this one though. I think I've identified a niche.

Carniwerm
Evolved from: Tuughwurm
Genes (10): Digging x3, Water Retention x 2, Crawling x 1, Eating Dead Things x2, Bristles x1, Plating x1
Added Genes(3): Flesh Eatingx1, Powerful Jaws x1, Large Sizex1
Description: Evolving to meet the open niche of a predator against the numerous burrowing animals of the time, the Carniwerm was a split from the normal worms and wurms of the day, using its bristles to locate the movements of potential prey and then rapidly tunneling toward them. Once the burrower is in its powerful jaws, the now larger Carniwerm will drag them away and devour them, deriving an energy boost from that and then going hunting. When eating its prey(since the underground is mostly free of scavengers) the Carniwerm picks the carcass clean, making sure not to eat anything its stomach can't handle, while maximizing the amount of meat it intakes. When there is a derth of prey, the Carniwerm can always rely on its eating of dead things for the much needed energy boost.

@TerrisH- Wouldn't the Royalis have 'communal behaviour' again, instead of 'hive mind'? I figure that more communal behaviour is more collective intelligence.

Announcementx0rs: Ive now added census thing and some pics to the update.

@Charles Li, nice story! :)

@TerrisH, Communal Intelligence sounds good!

tuxedohamm said:
@Daft: I don't see the air floating being used every day, but only as a means to get back to water when needing to hydrate. The back and forth migration timing is due to typical patterns of coastal winds. (Inland during day, Seaward during night). Also, I don't know how high you see them being able to go when I mention them in trees it is mostly low limbs at best in my mind. I assumed at level 1 it would be an imperfect mode of floating with limited flighttime due to limited amounts of hydrogen that was probably leaking slowly or something.

@tuxedohamm, im afraid I have big problems with this air floating. Im not sure that the atmosphere in this imaginary world is much different to real earth. I dont imagine it being particularly dense at this point, so it would be hard to float like that. Plus your creature needs to carry spikes and exoskeleton which would be weighing it down. It would need to be a big balloon-shaped thing, with little or no 'heavy' parts...

You can have flotation sacs or something, for extra buoyancy in water, but I dont imagine it being able to actually lift off the ground without alot of investment in this gene. Sorry :(

@Charles Li, nice story! :)

Thanks! I hope I can continue to Incuberate my self out of Noobines In my first and favorate NES... Chapter 2 comming up!

First lesson out of noobness it to learn the rules. Go learn the CFC forum rules.

Anyway daft, nice pics as always :). Is the Pre-Legger dying this turn almost for sure (and stop calling it pro-legger :p )? I wanna know of to evolve a third guy out of it... Is the Double stomach is a huge risk?

oh sorry, i know the Pro-Legger died out in the extinction, i did mean the pre-legger. It is only around on Falciria these days, it could survive there for a long time unless something local evoles to replace it. the Double Stomach Legger was the main reason it went extinct from the big continent.

Expedition to Asmara!

Chapter One

The Investigation

As they flew up into one of the light Space Dragons, It blew a Sac full of useless (to the dragon) Oxygen, and Tarndard and Charles went into the bubble. Charles then Pulled a Laptop and It rebounded into a 25 by 25 yard Lab.

Charles turned to Tarndard, "Thank you! You may go to your place now. See you soon!" And the Graceful Tundra Dragon left the Air Sac, now near the lowest safe oxygen... Suddenly the Space Dragon Inhaled and then exhaled. Breathing in the carbon and ejecting oxygen. "Thank You" Beamed Charles as he nicked the tip out of one of the spikes.

Charles Began to analyze the Spike's DNA. He saw the useable operating code for "1mm Spikes per month" "Wobble detecting" and other dead DNA. Charles tuned his scope closer to the DNA and to the Powdered Spike...

There! Exactly where the computer discovered a shut-down gene, Professor discovered a Mutant Cell... Actually about a Mutant at the farthest reaches of the Capillaries! These Mutants have 3 features: An X Wiring to the nearest Nerve, Special Blobs that can reuse waste in emergencies and excess of extra Blobs..

This can mean only one thing... this Oltic Scraper should be able to be buried alive and survive up to 10 years on Carbon Dioxide and Solid waste usually thrown away. Not to growing for 10 years but surviving in the cold... Indeed, those Mutants should be able to pass out the Blobs... or Mechnodradrons (Super slower and speed upper of metabolism) to other needy cells in extreme cold and can wake in seconds if the Spikes, seemly the center of them (Although Blood vessels from the mother shows that they are in less concentrations everywhere) detects vibrations. Charles smiles and Congratulated on planning to evolve this Creature. And then he named the new System of Hibernation "Mechnodra-Oltica System."

@TerrisH- Wouldn't the Royalis have 'communal behaviour' again, instead of 'hive mind'? I figure that more communal behaviour is more collective intelligence.

hmm, Not quite. Communal Behaviors relates more to the various animals Living with each other, perhaps working together, but as individuals and spreate creatures.

Communal Intelligence would be a the creatures working and acting as a single creature. acting with a single thought for a single purpose. sort of a meta-level consciousness.

Herd animals and Social insects have high levels of Communal Behavior, but only social insects would have Communal intelligence. (and not a very high level at that)

How does Communal intelligence works? What is the organ in question? How do the creatures share their intelligence?

Like Bees, They swarm about when looking for a new Hive, and then they send 1/6 about to north/south/east/west. Then the Queen visits each site and then chooses a direction by most bees in a direction. Then they wait until there are 15 bees that accepts a Hive before the Hive will resettle.

A new hive does not "swarm" a new hive starts from 1 one queen, sometimes a few workers.

Bees do not think together. Each Bee think for itself. they even dance to talk with each other as a proof to the fact that they do not sure intelligence. Each has it's own.

And queens do not think commands to their workers. Workers choose their flight by themselves or where they are told in a dance that there is food.

Every animal right now that appears to have such an ideals does not - it can easily be explained with no such psi powers.

Without a sci-fi psi mind connection it cannot exist. And I badly want sci-fi in this NES, but until I'm allowed, I don't want anyone allowed psi.

Look, more bees dancing a particular dance will get more bees, whowill dance more and more.... and sides, how can a Neww queen come out whil the old queen still resides? no, he Old queen moves out for the new queen, so, in terms, the 1/2 of the hive leving enmasse is a "swarm"
