NESLife attempt #3

Problems:
Most spellcheck-defeating evolution post: Slavic Sioux. Again you attempted to merge two complex things into one gene, and then you attempted to add a total of four genes without the proper authority to do so :) (I checked back and I don't know where this alleged bonus came from).
Sorry, could you inform me if an event like that won't happen again?

that is an awesome update. I guess I shouldn't complain so bad.

I'm torn on whether to evolve the Baronovalian or my Diving Aurora. I'll decide eventually. Also, does the bonus allow me to take away an extra gene as well?

Thanks for the feedback :)

Again I never meant to write so much, but it didn't take as long as you might think. When I finally got stuck into the writing, it was finished over three days or so. The rest of the long delay was me being busy with other stuff and not planning my use of time very well. The stats and pictures also took longer than the writing altogether.

About the SPORE creature creator, I have a 56k connection with limited time to use it, so I wont be downloading the 144 megs or whatever it is :(

@Slavic Sioux, yeah I know I shouldn't moan, because I could have let you know in advance of any problems, if I was better organised :) I'll try to give some warning next time.

Description: The Eater Gorgath was less sucessful then it's blood cousin, but developed tendencies to begin practicing biting on plants. This culminated in outright destroying plants to reduce the herbivore population, thus giving it's own an advantage...

@Neverwonagame, I wouldn't have a problem with that tactic, I can see how it would make sense. Although, maybe that would be an extension of 'brain power'/intelligence etc, as opposed to requiring a seperate 'gene' thing? Anyway, Im cool with your new evolution too.

I'm thinking of making some of my animals in SPORE- I think I have enough parts to make anything out of Venatorixidae.

@Lord Iggy, please post some pictures if you get anything like that working :D Also, I meant to say from last time, I know what you mean by Cthulhu :) I assure you I didn't mean to make the Gigatupler look like a giant evil trans-dimensional entity...

Hmm, I never thought of that before. I guess that should be the case. Though, I might have an objection if its used to remove x4 levels of one 'gene' all in one go. Also thanks for not abandoning this NES yet, after such a long delay :)

okay then. Also, the amount of writing is definitely not too long. I think its excellent the way it is. Also, I wouldn't leave. i'd just start badgering you even more.

What does water retention do in this NES? I'd like to know.

Spoiler :
Diving Aurora: Sliver Slave
Evolved from: Waddling Aurora
Role: flying, swimming omnivore
Habitat: warm/temperate lakes/rivers/coastlines
Survival Status: Thriving
Genes (34): Complex Stomach x1, Flesh Eating x1, Lungs x3, Vibration Sense x1, Eyes x3, Flying x2, Swimming x4, Walking x1, Feathers x3, Talons x2, Jaws x1, Cartilage x1, Skeleton x2, Water Retention x2, Cold Resistance x1, Oil Glands x1, Brain Power x1, Parenting Instinct x1, Plant Eating x2, Live Birth x1.
Description: the Diving Aurora has taken the direction its ancestor went, the Waddling Aurora several steps further. It has achieved a primitive form of internal development, so that's its young are born in eggs that are already nearly ready for hatching, requiring only an hour or two. Because of this, it does not have to nest, and no longer requires the ability to fly. The only time it spends on land is that which it uses to crawl to some height or other, and dive deep, deep down into the water, hence its name. It can barely fly at all, equating no more than a large jump, which is also used in diving. With larger lungs, it can stay underwater much longer, and uses its wings as fins. Its hind limbs have already begun to atrophy, in favour its tail. It swims with up and down motions, using its wings to steer.

Evolves to:

Deep Aurora: Sliver Slave
Evolved from: Diving Aurora
Genes (36): Complex Stomach x1, Flesh Eating x2, Lungs x3, Vibration Sense x1, talons x2, Eyes x3, Swimming x4, Walking x1, Feathers x3, Jaws x1, Cartilage x1, Skeleton x2, Water Retention x1, Cold Resistance x2, Oil Glands x1, Brain Power x1, Parenting Instinct x1, Plant Eating x2, Live Birth x3.
Removed genes: Flying x2, water retention x1
Description: The Deep Aurora was even more adapted for swimming than its ancestor, the diving Aurora. It can go deeper than the Diving Aurora. eating and mating take place in the water, and the only time they go on land, is when they lug themselves up onto the ground to give birth. the males hunt to find food for the newborns. Its young are born alive, but must be kept on land for several hours, at which point they can be nudged into the water, where they will develop further. the Deep Aurora, while still able to eat plants, is attempting to become a dedicated carnivore, though it is not the best.

EDIT: in the stats, it says that the long necked bariothorim is an NPC, though it attributes it to nailix.

And has anyone thought of evolving the yuckius? I haven't been able to think of an NPC idea.

Also, I wish i was around when those deleted picture were there.

Its so things can live on land, originally there were only sea creatures/plants. The way things have worked out, level 1 is enough to survive temporarily on land, but still needs to go back into the water to avoid drying out, and still reproduces in water (like a frog basically). Level 2 is just about enough for a creature to live permanently on land, and most likely breed on land to, but still needs drinking water close by. Level 3 and above allows survival in drier and drier places. Level 5/6 would be good enough for most desert areas. With level 10, something could survive permanenty in the most extreme deserts. It wouldn't do much good to go higher than that, except if there was competition with another similar species, and you wanted to get any slight advantage.

EDIT: in the stats, it sayas that the long necked bariothorim is an NPC, though it attributes it to nailix.

Thats a mistake, I copied the old text and forgot to change that part :) I'll fix that for nexy time.

I've still got most pictures on my PC, I just hadn't got around to re-uploading them all to photobucket and changing the IMG links. Its a bit of an ordeal with my slow connection and my Firefox not liking the Photobucket page. Anyway, I've now put back the pictures for eras 14 to 16, which I think is all of them now!

Lurker's Comment: Daftnes shall not be forgotten... :(

The Creature Creator is my ally.

EDIT:

Here's an improved version, with a side by side comparison.

Ah okay. I'll just change my evolution a bit, with that in mind. Strangely, my firefox doesn't have a problem with photobucket.

If I get a few moments, I'll see. The tentacles will be tricky...

Just as a reminder, I'm still capable of posting portions of the complete evolutionary tree.

@Lord Iggy, that is cool. Very cool  I wonder, what 'part' have you put on its back, where I drew the 'lung' openings? Do you know how this creature would work in the real game?

Its a shame you can't have segmented, crustacean style creatures... Or can you in the full game?

ooh, can I see the the Aurora tree then? from the longbay cloudfire? And if, its not too much work, the valion tree? from the beginning?

I have never been, nor have I claimed to be lord Iggy, and have not purchased or downloaded the demo, but I believe that the eyes and such would give it a score for its abilities, but if you suck at video games, the creature will still not be very good.

No, segmented creatures don't really work in the editor. The organs on the rear are ears, but they look almost the same.

In the real game, the creature is a powerful predator, which attacks by slashing its claws, pincers, and two sets of jaws (I put two together to make the mouth).

If I could have had more complexity points, I would have added exoskeletal plates. The best I could do was a plated-looking paint job.

Each of the body parts other than the torso and limbs give points towards skills, such as bite, speed, slash, social, charm, etc.

LI, could you please post the jubblers again? I cant find your older post.

ooh...I just realized that all my favourite creatures, except the Auroras, maybe, are descended from valions. wow.

Also Squid1111, I think that those old ones would be on page 130 or so. And I just realized your avatar is
