Anyone had any luck with savegames from the previous beta? Crashing for me--just a heads up for anyone considering updating mid-game.

Was afraid of that, as some garrison code was tinkered with (and that can be a problem). A good rule of thumb is never to rely on or truly need a savegame update mid-version (especially on beta versions).

Whenever I install a new version of the mod, i run into the problem that it overrides my game settings.
That is not gamebreaking, and after clearing the cache some defaults are probably necessary.
However, it always defaults to research agreements disabled but tech trading enabled. Is it possible to have it default the other way around? I know it`s no big deal to correct these setting for yourself, but in the excitement about a new version I often forget it, and won`t realize it until I don´t want to abandon the game any more.

It is actually deleting the Cache that defaults your gamesettings.

I brought this up before and G said it needed a major thread with a good majority. Of course I did not bring it up because I forgot to change it, I brought it up because I don't want new people trying to mod out to get to play with sub-par settings and dislike the game because of that.

I've been thinking about this as well. Mentioned it in another thread as part of another question but maybe I'll ask it again in a direct manner.

Can the DLL allow mods access to Windows' "My Documents" folder so a settings file could be created and saved there where it won't be overwritten on new installs?

Thought so.

I don`t understand. I always thought this mod is designed around research agreements and tech trade is just a bonus thrown in for a minority of players?

I thought so to, I thought the tech-trade was just around because it was a default feature of Civ4diplomacy.

Delete Lua folders in CP/CBP if you are using all.

That didn't work. I can see the source of unhappiness when I hover the mouse over the city banner. But when I am actually in the city screen and it says "Happiness -3", it just shows the culture or tourism.

Unless I deleted the wrong LUA folders but probably not.

Where are you hovering over? The place where it is displayed in city view has changed a few versions ago (took me quite a while to figure it out).

The detailed information is now shown if you hover over the city name.

That explains why it's borked. Noticed the "icon" (the guarded shield) doesn't appear sometimes and is offset slightly to the left rather than above the unit.

Nothing big but noticeable.

The MP Trade Table still screwed up. :(

I used my own version of the ModPack since Lynnes hasn't done it yet it could be on my part however I was using the 10b version. The Trade Table continues to be completely broken and stop working after the intiial meet with a civ.

On the map, when I hover over the city name banner, it will say (for example) 1 unhappy for illiteracy. When I double click on the city and look at the top left corner, it says happiness between tourism and culture. When I hover the mouse over, it doesn't give me any information on happiness. It just shows the culture info even if my mouse pointer is clearly hovering over happiness.

Right.
As I said, it doesn`t work that way any more.
Hover the mouse cursor over the cityname (in city screen). It`s quite central, but can be missed.

I have never changed any settings, so does that mean I play with sub-par settings? What do you think is the optimal? "Research agreements" on and "no tech trading" on?

"optimal" is what is most fun for you.

I prefer research agreements, and my understanding is that this mod is designed with research agreements on and trading off (but it does recognize the option, see Porcelain Tower).

Well isn't tech trading half-broken already? It used to introduce lots of AI quirks, aside from the obvious balance problems. Can't see why it's enabled on default.

Pretty much this. You're naturally allowed to play however you want, but I would not want to force the tech-trading which is working poorly on first-time users.

Problem is that, since people turn it off, I get no feedback on changes that we've made to it. That's why default settings are what they are – if people continually change/edit the default settings, I cannot gain feedback on what is working.

I personally turn research-agreements back on because I think they are a way more interesting and way more balanced. Getting rid of Tech-trading was one of the best things civ5 did imho.
