New DLCs?

I'm surprised no one else has posted this thread from what I've seen; but who else is desiring more new Civs, Leaders, wonders and other content a DLC can bring us?

I'm still working my way through all of the New Civs from Rise & Fall and thoroughly enjoying them! ...but I'm already craving more. I want more Civs to conquer my heart like the last bunch.

So do guys think we will be getting DLCs between Expansions? If so when do you think we will first hear or get one, and who do you think they might be?

I'm keeping my eye on SteamDB. It appears they are working on a patch, but I haven't seen any signs of a DLC or expansion yet.

*Bows and praises the almighty Eagle Pursuit, the Holy Prophet and chief delegate to the Cree peoples.*

I've been keeping an eye on SteamDB too and have not spotted anything obvious yet. But the tension is killing me... With only 8 new Civs and 2K pushing for In-app purchases, they must do more DLC Civs.

Now we are post expansion I highly doubt we will see more DLCs, much more likely another expansion next year.

Would there be any post-expansion dlc? Would that even be a wise move? Wouldn't they have to have abilities that don't affect the R&F features? Unless, of course, it's part of an update for R&F.

That or just add a dependency from r&f, the fact that they didn't do it before doesn't mean they can't do it with civ6.

if 2K is pushing more 'games as service' model then DLC is the best fit for Civ, so I would not be surprised if we see some more

Yes please to DLCs between the 1st and 2nd expansions!

I thought this thread was because we possibly found some info.

I'm sure we'll get new DLCS - but whether they will be anything more than map packs (i.e. like we got in 5 between gods and kings and bnw), who knows. They certainly haven't added much in the way of maps so far.

I just think you guys are just greedy. Let's enjoy what we have. It hasn't even been a month. Most of us haven't even played all the new civs yet...but if any of you know something, please do tell. :mischief: It is always fun to speculate. Now, let me go back to my second Cree game. So much fun to play them.

I am really enjoying the expansion so far, and thanks to my very slow pace of playing I'm still only part-way through my second game of it, so I'm certainly not in a rush for new Civs...

...but the thought does occasionally cross my mind, usually at around 3pm on a Monday or Tuesday, can't think why :mischief:

I highly doubt we would end up just with 8 more civs because
1) Every subsequent civ game increased name of playable civs by 7-8 (civ1-14, civ2-21, civ3-27, civ4-35, civ5-43) and here suddenly civ6 would end 'just' with roughly the same amount as civ5
2) That would kinda waste the system of alternate leaders
3) That would miss the opportunity of adding shiny marketing number of 50 civs at 25 years of series :p

4) Most importantly, that would mean that in order to get all "must-have" civs, every civ left would be one of series mainstays - nothing new or fan favorite...
Expansion providing 8 civs? Well, see how 8 mainstay civs are missing:
Inca, Maya, Ottomans, Byzantium, Ethiopia, Carthago, Portugal, Babylon. I don't think any of these has a chance of being excluded (maaaaaaaybe Ethiopia and Carthago, but they are still popular mainstays at this point).

I find it highly improbable that Firaxis would release second expansion with no new civ, just old mainstays, and say 'that's it folks, nothing new, no West Africa, no Mali, no US Native Americans, no Italy/Hungary/Maori, we cannot exceed expansions quota, bye!'

I also think it's nonsense to think that dlcivs cannot be released because of expansion. Paradox interactive is capable of developing the game in a way it releases like a dozen base gameplay mechanics changing dlcs per game in a way their absence and optional nature doesn't clash with each other, and you people think additional "characters" cannot be added because of expansion mechanics?

Let's see how many mechanics did RnF introduce that civs may use: loyalty, ages. That's it. (governors are barely touchable)

Firaxis may earn a lot of money by releasing dlc civilizations by either
1) Making each civ have two sets of abilities, non RnF compatible and incompatible - similarly to Paradox
2) Making new dlc civs have abilities based on, ya know, all game systems other than loyalty and ages.

Pretty much me, too. Except that it's 9 a.m. for me :p

Or
3) require R&F. I strongly suspect that most people who would buy DLC a la carte would also already have R&F.

To me its more like some confirmation would be nice, because I know we're going to get more Civs, but through what kind of format?

I just want new leaders - having India and Greece as the only two civs with alternate leaders is just bizarre. Why even bother having alternate leaders at all if only a handful of civs get them?

I would personally prefer that they don't release more DLC, unless it's free of charge to all.

We are in dire need of new map scripts, as well as improved AI and diplomacy. I think we have plenty of civs to try for the time being. So ideally some free map pack DLC and patches.

Honestly, I was craving more DLC already as well, until yesterday: I finally got YAMP to work, which makes the game much more fun imo; the ability to finetune the maps settings and playing on very large maps with TSL and tons of leaders is my jam. If anything, I want an update that will make sure my computer stops getting murdered by the loading times of these games ^^
