Ha! I never said making money is a sin. But the DLC are very overpriced. $5 for a single civ means $30 for 6, or $60 for 12. Hence protests, critiques and whining on YouTube, Facebook and in these forums (people complaining about DLC not being on sale being the most recent such thread that I recall). Hence the onslaught of negative Steam reviews. There's nothing wrong with paying developers for their work ruins the original base game. That's why we buy expansions. DLC are another matter since per bite they are pricier.
With the Poundmaker controversy, I can 100% guarantee you that scenario will not happen. This would be an interesting opportunity to release the Canada DLC with the Northwest Rebellion scenario.

Suppositions and guesswork. We don't know how Firaxis' sales are or how their economics work, and it's entirely possible the DD price reduction in the last Steam sale was their revisiting of the price. But my point is the DLC per set remain the same overpriced content they have always been. You say they are over priced, yet if they were and few people were buying them the price would have been revisited. It hasn't been. I don't see that many complaints. I think there's an echo chamber in which those who do see them as a ripoff feed off each other.

I was under the impression that a good chunk of the negative reviews on the first four DLC (especially the Vikings scenario) were from people with the deluxe edition who didn't know what they were buying and didn't like what they ended up getting (this before the other two DLC were added).
I think selling the deluxe edition without any specifics as to the content was a big marketing mistake. They should have at least given the total number of civs that would be included.
I think they've already pushed the envelope far enough re modern states that aren't especially known for dominating the world in any way with Australia and Brazil![]()
'Cause the Mapuche dominated the world.
Or Kongo.
Or Scythia.
Or Cree.
Or Korea (although KPop might do it sometime in the near future)
The point is that Civilization is not a game serie only about Warmongering people who crushed their neighbors, grew giant and crumbled thanks to its own weight. It is a game about setting the same start conditions to different people, unique cultures, faith acomplishments. And the more diverse are these things, the merrier.
So I dont see why Canada cant be in the game. Or the Celts. The Inca, the Berbers, Switzerland, et cetera.
Irrelevant and inadequate explanation, if it's even the actual explanation for the situation here. It's entirely possible the price hasn't changed despite lower than expected sales of DLC. That is where your suppositional guesswork comes in. Companies don't always lower prices due to lowered demand. Sometimes they stick it out in the hopes the consistency of the price will encourage more buyers.Yeah, we do. They come up with a price for their product. if people don't want to pay the price then they won't. That's about it.
You can get more in the world with a kind word and a gun, then you can with just a kind word....
