New DLCs?

I hope there are more DLC. It'd be awesome to get more civs but also a map pack and something like the Wonders of the Ancient World scenario from Civ 5.

Bring it on Firaxis!

Frankly I hope they add scenarios to their second expansion, as they did with Brave New World. So far scenarios have only been added via DLC (or present in the original in the form of Nuclear War or other such unstoried drivel). God and Kings had three scenarios. Rise and Fall had zero, despite speculation about a potential Poundmaker-based scenario or other such.

I don't usually care for scenarios but stand alone ones that come with extra content like WotAW from civ 5 are nice. I didn't miss Rise and Fall not having scenarios.

I was under the impression that a good chunk of the negative reviews on the first four DLC (especially the Vikings scenario) were from people with the deluxe edition who didn't know what they were buying and didn't like what they ended up getting (this before the other two DLC were added).

I think selling the deluxe edition without any specifics as to the content was a big marketing mistake. They should have at least given the total number of civs that would be included.

Ha! I never said making money is a sin. But the DLC are very overpriced. $5 for a single civ means $30 for 6, or $60 for 12. Hence protests, critiques and whining on YouTube, Facebook and in these forums (people complaining about DLC not being on sale being the most recent such thread that I recall). Hence the onslaught of negative Steam reviews. There's nothing wrong with paying developers for their work ruins the original base game. That's why we buy expansions. DLC are another matter since per bite they are pricier.

You say they are over priced, yet if they were and few people were buying them the price would have been revisited. It hasn't been. I don't see that many complaints. I think there's an echo chamber in which those who do see them as a ripoff feed off each other.

We need more leaders! It would be a waste of a good mechanic (Leader and Civ abilities) if Rome, China, France, England, US, Russia only had one leader

This would be an interesting opportunity to release the Canada DLC with the Northwest Rebellion scenario.

I think they've already pushed the envelope far enough re modern states that aren't especially known for dominating the world in any way with Australia and Brazil :p

I expect Isabella of Spain at some point since she is the only leader who was on that blurry poster who didn't make it in (despite the image being the wrong Isabella she was in the right place alphabetically, next to Philip). Even Jadwiga eventually showed up.

Suppositions and guesswork. We don't know how Firaxis' sales are or how their economics work, and it's entirely possible the DD price reduction in the last Steam sale was their revisiting of the price. But my point is the DLC per set remain the same overpriced content they have always been.

Whether you haven't seen many complaints is irrelevant in the face of the mass Steam reviews hating on the DLC pricing scheme. In general DLC has always been controversial for games. Civ is no exception.

Yeah, we do. They come up with a price for their product. if people don't want to pay the price then they won't. That's about it.

Civ is selling a ton, so more DLCs are pretty much guaranteed. Soon even.

Agreed. As someone who bought the deluxe, the Vikings DLC release felt too light to be included in the 4 DLC count. I had faith that deluxe owners would get at least an alright deal, and that turned out to be the case when the Persia and Macedon double-pack were released. But like you said, it would've made a lot more sense for them to announce the number of civs beforehand. The ambiguity probably lead to a lot more negative reviews than would've been the case had they done that.

I think they need to add in more incentives for early purchasers.

'Cause the Mapuche dominated the world.
Or Kongo.
Or Scythia.
Or Cree.
Or Korea (although KPop might do it sometime in the near future)

The point is that Civilization is not a game serie only about Warmongering people who crushed their neighbors, grew giant and crumbled thanks to its own weight. It is a game about setting the same start conditions to different people, unique cultures, faith acomplishments. And the more diverse are these things, the merrier.

So I dont see why Canada cant be in the game. Or the Celts. The Inca, the Berbers, Switzerland, et cetera.

Domination of the world doesn't have to be military. It can be cultural etc. In terms of those included based on military efforts, it's nice to include countries if they were at least regional powers for a significant time, even if not world powers. Tell me...what win condition in VI does Canada, Australia, and Brazil spring to mind based on their real world endeavors?

You can get more in the world with a kind word and a gun, then you can with just a kind word....

Yeah, we do. They come up with a price for their product. if people don't want to pay the price then they won't. That's about it.
Irrelevant and inadequate explanation, if it's even the actual explanation for the situation here. It's entirely possible the price hasn't changed despite lower than expected sales of DLC. That is where your suppositional guesswork comes in. Companies don't always lower prices due to lowered demand. Sometimes they stick it out in the hopes the consistency of the price will encourage more buyers.

Which they have the right to do. It is their product! What part of this are you not wanting to understand?
