Woot! Thunderfall was kind enough to create a sub-forum for FFPlus... I'll be working on getting some threads stickied too.
Also, I've been thinking that we should try to release 0.51 as a complete self-installing download, no more requiring FfH to copy files out of. Really that only saves us from distributing the Resources Folder, which is sizeable, but not TOO large. Everything else we overwrite. Then no more having people wonder what version of FfH they need and where to actually find that version (could wind up being a huge issue if at some point Kael does a new full download again and we aren't ready to release for quite a while, like now kinda)
The main "big" file is Pak0.fpk - which weighs in at 132MB compressed. Our last full release was a little over 90MB I think...
I've been thinking some more about this one - we can afford the hit provided download rates aren't significantly up (more than double) what we generally get on a major release. It'll be a pain to upload but I can live with that.
I also wanted to check that it'd be ok with Kael and co before severing the last dependency, which I've now done and it's fine. It'll actually make life a lot easier regarding artwork/pak files in anycase, though I'm not sure whether to keep 2 pak files or just make it into one containing all the artwork.
Although, perhaps we don't need so much subclassing...
I remember reading something along those lines some days ago... and I remember someone answering that FF was nonetheless a FfH modmod, at least in spirit.
Congrats Valkirinon. May the hamstalfar reign supreme and may you not point that gun at me.
(No!!!!!!!!!! not another forum to read everyday)
I agree entirely. I definitely approve of having a fully independent download of FF, though.I would say that FF will never move out of FfH subforum status mainly because we take advantage of the learning curve of FfH. If someone was browsing the Mod Forums and stumbled on FF and gave it a go... They'd quite possibly be more than a little bit lost, and then we'd have to explain where to find FfH and how they should start there![]()
