I was surfing through the web like usual until the moment I stumbled upon this !
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FÉLIN
and the idea crossed my mind.
"this could be an awesome unique unit for the French army in Civ V!"
So, for those to lasy to click on the link above, this is what I am talking about.
The FELIN (Fantassin a Equipement et Liaison Integrés or Integrated Communication's Equipment Infantryman for those who think that french is a deep space alien language ) is what tom clancy imagined on the GRAW series.
Well, the Americans thinked about it, and the French actually did it ! ( maybe not as glamour as in the GRAW games but whatever ).
it could replace the Commando unit, and could have a bonus against garrisoned cities and like the scout ignore terrain movement cost.
and as for the new wonder, I was thinking about the "canal du midi".
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canal_du_Midi
this canal ( when added to the "Canal de la Garonne" ) links the mediterannean sea with the atlantic ocean.
built on the 17th century by pierre paul riquet, it is considered as the most important building site of that era.
it makes 240 kms long and took 15 year to build and cost over 15 million livres.
even today it is considered as a marvellous engineering accomplishment and is the most popular pleasure waterway in Europe.
build-able only with cities next to river tiles.
It could be unlocked by searching engineering, and could give important economic bonuses such as +2 grouth on the city that built it, +1 gold on the river tiles near the city, +1 happines from IMPORTED luxuries for the civ that built it. (including those gifted by allied CS)
just my 2 cents.
