New info on update coming Monday

Neat

I'm going to be this update will involve nerfing GC and buffing Maya.

Also, I've lost track, do we still have any civs that don't have unique palaces? If I recall, the Mediterranean, Mughal, and Sumerian civs seemed to be lagging behind everyone else.

I hope some of the secret societies get a bit of balance tweaking. Mostly the hermetics need a boost to be on par with the others

I wouldn't expect them to do balance changes to secret societies this soon. They'll probably want more time to consider feedback, decide on how to approach and test whatever they choose to do. It's more likely for us to see a Gran Colombia change, which has been out for quite a while now.

I think Khmer and Indonesia might still share the same South East Asia palace.

Very nice. Can anyone copy the exact text of the post? Whenever I click to expand it I just get the 2 second video of Gilgamesh full screen :crazyeye:

The post simply says "Come back on Monday for info on the new game update coming to all Civilization VI players this month. Don't miss it!"

Any ideas for what we might expect for this update? IIRC the devs mentioned that gamemodes would be among the content possibly included in the free game updates.

I personally think we've got a good chance at getting a free gamemode this update, seeing how Anton teased on twitter about a new feature coming

I wouldn't be too surprised if they spoiled the names of the September update Civs. We knew Maya, Gran Colombia and Ethiopia were coming months in advance.

I don't expect a lot of info though, nor a lot of changes in the upcoming update. We'll see.

They did show Menelik's silhouette in the June patch video.

Imma hope for the Secret Societes lens added to the UI. Complete with the rest of the (most of the) missing UI.
:p

Plus, Gran Colombia and Maya were mentioned by name, by Anton, in the announcement of NFP.

So yes, I do the next civs and game modes might be spoiled.

Also... buff trading?
Spoiler :

Buff AI trading, that is... Nerf human trading, I mean. Or... is this just fair, totally balanced with no exploits?
(and also, FXS, pray, please tell me from this screen, will Kristina would also pay me a little something for my gems?):

I agree that they'll probably outright say it or at least hint toward what the next civ might be.

I always liked the little teaser things they had back in R&F and GS, though it was a shame that the GS civs got spoiled so it wasn't as fun to guess what civ could be next when you already know the list. Of course, they're probably not going to start doing cinematic teasers for them again, but I'd love to continue to get some sort of relatively vague hint that might require a bit of sleuthing to figure out which civ it could belong to. Something like a leader silhouette again or an unknown unit off in the distance, where they have features that might hint toward their respective nation if you know what to look for, like with the silhouette of Menelik's hat. Collectively, Civfanatics is probably better than most players at sleuthing, so if they do continue to do some teasers then they'll probably end up being easier than, say, the Georgian brass knuckles back in R&F (though it was super fun to see the thread discussion in real-time and watch as people slowly realize that they are, indeed, adding Tamar of Georgia.)

I'm hoping we get a few more. It would be nice if, by the time the game is complete, every civ has a unique palace.

There's nothing really preventing them from doing something similar in NFP, creativity is their only limitation. I suspect they would want to find sneakier ways to hide it (just like the Firaxis logo on leaders), so they wouldn't go with full teaser trailers/images or hidden objects, but maybe something like Menelik in the game mode promos.

We need Worldbuilder on the Switch. That's what I am hoping for but I doubt we'll see it. ;)
