new patch is on its way: 1.0.1.275, released April, 28th

1. Unless Morningcalm works for Firaxis, he cannot confirm it is no error. I'm feeling more and more like whoever is in charge of maintaining that site misinterpreted news of the korean localization patch.

2. Which likely uses the same "announcement" as it's source. Which I do not believe.

Look at it this way: All other DLC has been announced on the 2K forums, at the same time as the English Civ5 site. And likely those for other languages. Why on earth should it be trusted if there is ONE "announcement", for just the ONE language. Incidentally, the same language the DLC would use... And the same language that the game was translated to.

Surely you can see why I am extremely skeptical.

Morningcalm speaks Korean.

I'm still waiting to buy the game, I'm in no rush. I'll just wait until they finish the game.

I doubt you will reply to this considering you've made two posts in ten days, but the game is finished. Despite what you may have heard - considering that it's now "cool" to claim the game isn't finished/is broken (please understand i'm not referring to you specifically as you've obviously only been a member for a short time but to the hundreds of others who constantly deride the game without providing constructive feedback and in many cases openly admitting to not having bought the game at all or not having played it in months/since launch).

Whether or not you personally will enjoy the game is another matter - but please don't take the word of the zombie horde who shuffle around hungering for the blood of fanboys and moaning softly "brooookeeeen..... brooookeeen....".

In short: before you pass judgement on it please actually buy and play the game. Or at least play the demo (though I don't think that reflects the current game state at all).

Don't take the word of these zombies because honestly they don't know you, your gaming tastes and many of them know little about the game, even.

Actually, he/she sounds like a smart consumer. It's a sad state of affairs in the game industry these days and Firaxis has done what many game developers do.

BTW, even a zombie would know that this game was released 1-2 years too early. It is still unfinished. Just look at the AI, crappy diplomacy or broken multiplayer for starters.

game is done. i bought at day one. over played until i got upset. quit for several months and came back 30 days ago. it is now what i expected it to be at release. civ 4 vanilla-ish.

If you are still waiting: get real.

I just feel a little disappointed with modern-era warfare. if you wanna win domination you have to do it in the rifle age and the game is over in the 1900s. if you wait until modern times, it just becomes a lame nukefest.

The entire modern age needs a facelift. You basically get NOTHING except for upgraded military toys in the modern age. Sad, really....

So, this patch looks pretty good.

Sure like the looks of this patch.

Hope there's more information released soon about the patch.

It looks another step in a long line of great patches for the game.

I'm glad there are forums where we can get together and talk about the effects of the patch, like this one.

From the 2K forum:

The notes posted are not the complete update notes, just a progress report. The exploit mentioned above has been addressed, and there have also been many updates to the Civilopedia, including how the data is displayed in the left-hand columns (combining both percentage modifiers alongside additive modifiers, etc.).

Greg will have additional information shortly. :)

I felt the complete opposite actually - The first 3/4 of the game is an understandable framework of melee/ranged/siege(/naval) and then the paradigm suddenly shifts way too drastically into a not-quite-balanced mess - (non-siege) ranged units and the dynamics thereof disappear, then you suddenly get missiles/air/anti-air, melee units that move faster than Sonic the Hedgehog, all of which basically turn the entire meta-game into 'blow them up before they blow you up' as opposed to the careful placement of unit types prior.

Not to mention nukes. Oh god nukes.

I still want to see trading posts fixed up a bit.

I liked how cottages evolved into mini cities outside a city.

Not expecting something similar as the map will look too busy, but the trading posts are fugly.

game is done.

IMO, the game is not done, at least for Firaxis sake I really hope its not yet finished. IMO, this game has one huge flaw: AI.

Civilization game needs better AI than what we have now, or at least it needs to be able to hide its average/bad AI somehow, like stacking ala civ4.

I dont bash the civ5 AI just for kicks, I really REALLY want it to get better. I also think that (I cant be sure ofcourse) that’s what Thormodr is also saying.

IMO the 1upt system sounded very good BUT! unfortunately Firaxis messed it up by not delivering good enough AI to pair with that 1upt system. I like to play builder style but i also like to warmonger, usually my games end up being hybrid of these two game styles. Sadly for me (and for many other people also), the civ5 combat AI is a joke.

All I can say right now that if this game is finished in terms of AI so that we wouldnt see any good improvements to AI in the future, then this game will turn out to be just a “nice try but sadly not enough effort put into it” –kind of game, in other words: pretty good game with bad AI.

I really hope that Firaxis fixes the AI because IMO, this game has some serious potential.

wish they'd speed up Air units battle animations, they take far to long & make the endgame really boring. Who wants to watch 10 AI fighters attack some other AI every time you press enter. & who wants to wait 30seconds evertime you send a bomber on a run. SPEED IT UP!

as to patch notes, looks good. Few good changes and several bug fixes not mentioned though. Also not looking foward to waiting 3 months for research pacts to be balanced... oh well.

I know that it os not the ideal solution, but you can always change to strategic view during ai turn to not see the animations, it is what i do when these animation begin to take much of my time.

We'll just have to wait and see. We know there will be a DLC, at least, given the new achievements. Given the patch notes though, it seems likely to be a war-based scenario... Zulu?

If you're going with the logic of patch = hint of what DLC is coming, then I vote Vikings. There's plenty of naval/embarked unit fixes in there, and well.. the zulu aren't known for their navy.
