New PBEM adaptation of TGW-Div 1.6: Playtesting!

Elsewhere in Mesopotamia three arab rebels are rounded up and shot like the jackals they are.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You get So bloodthirsty, dear Moff.

On the other issue just want to ask you to report Austrian siege of Bucharest. It is true that Entente cannot see it, but Romania was part of it anyway and could communicate with allies...

I knew you'd get a kick out of that particular wording of the Turkish actions in Mesopotamia. LOL

Well the siege of Bucharest is going slowly. The Austrians managed to kill one HMG after the preliminary bombardments were over.

Russians still doing Manuveres in anticipation of a second German assault. The lone ship in the Black Sea craters the road NE of Eregil.

The second of the French Div roll into Venice. The bulk of this assault has stopped in Milan to eat lunch and drink wine at a cafe' with red and white stripped table clothes. :culture:

Guys, I may be a litle late with my save... Some RL came along...

Not aproblem, Tigranes.

Britain

Endless War is continuing on the Land, at the Sea and now in Air, as British finally unlocked the best Entente biplane in the War: Sopwith Camel
RAF_Sopwith_Camel.jpg

The Sopwith Camel was a British First World War single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917. It had a combination of a short-coupled fuselage, heavy, powerful rotary engine and concentrated fire from twin synchronized machine guns. The Camel was credited with shooting down 1,294 enemy aircraft, more than any other Allied fighter in the First World War.

Soon, soon the Centrals will feel the wrath of RAF. But for now let's see what is happening at Sea and on Land.

German CL was spotted near Dogger Bank (nobody complimented my fishes and shallow waters I made to depict the famous large sandbank in a shallow area of the North Sea  ). How in a world did the Germans got so far despite blockading Grand Fleet? Our Epic quest to finally get an Elite Naval unit continues with Veteran CL failing to promote, but picking Survivors after the German ship sunk in close range fight.

Arabia is cleared from Turkish soldiers! Islam's Holy city Mecca is captured by R Div, killing Turkish Infantry.

Big push on Basra with disastrous results. 3 fine A Infantry die to knock down just 1 out of 6 defenders in Basra (1 City Garrison (def 10) and 5 Turkish Infantry (def 9) ).

BEF regroups in Belgium. War materials are sent to hunger stricken Naples, before Italians could rush Rationing Office and stop new Shortages there.

Italy

Italian High Command finally realizes that Italians belong in Italy not in Belgium. After burring the fallen comrades Italians return to Milano for much needed recuperation.

Due to some strange bug Italian foreign office discovers that we are at war with Russia even though F4 shows we have permanent alliance  By the request of financially broken Brits Italy sends 400 gold back to Russia as well as the Peace Offer.

Week 3, 1915

Ottoman Empire:

A great day for the Turkish Navy! One of the accursed British BCs that has been bombing our shores has been sent to the bottom near Haifa! A Turkish minefield proved to be too much for the mighty battle cruiser to handle. Turkish citizens in the area danced in the streets all night long to the sound of music, laughter, and song. It was said that the thunder of the explosion could be felt as far away as Jerusalem.

Another Arab rebel shot to death in Mesopotamia. Despite the losses the Arabs have been suffering of late, they still stream across the border. Meanwhile Gaza and Basra are cutoff from our empire.

Austria-Hungary:

Austria patrols spot Italian BB near Lecce on the Adriatic side. An Austrian BB is promptly sent out and sinks the Italian. No survivors.

It is then noticed that there is an Italian Transport off the coast of Albania. The commander of the Austrian submarine attacking instructs his men to sink her on sight. They do and when the survivors approach the Austrian vessel the men go on deck to rescue the stricken transports crew. Unfortunately for the Italians the sergeant leading the Austrian crewmembers was Turkish. He was sent to the Austrian Navy for training so that he could help his countrymen later. Seeing the hated enemy up close enraged the Turk. Memories of watching his family's home destroyed during one of the many recent Entente bombardment campaigns against the Turkish coastline sent this particular Turk over the top.

When the survivors were in the process of being taken aboard the Turkish sergeant opened fire with his two pistols killing them.

Germany:

French CA sunk near the coast of the Netherlands by a German CL. The French ship was shelled first prior to the attack. Another French CA is spotted by a patrolling German DD Flotilla and another CL is sent to bombard the French CA. Then a German BC arrives on the scene to finish off the damaged French ship.

A German commerce raider (DD Flotilla) spots a Neutral transport near Hull, England. The transport is promptly sunk. Survivors killed to prevent capture by enemy.

Another German commerce raider (DD Flotilla) spots a British Pre-Dreadnought in the North Sea and attacks! The German goes down but not after inflicting some damage on the British ship. Then a CA is sent to finish the British off. Survivors were machine gunned as they tried to call the German captain for help. It was then realized that these survivors may have been from the German ship that was sunk there last week. The German captain decides not to report the incident to his superiors.

Limited fighting continues on the Western Front this week. The British force attempting to escape to Belgium was shelled after the Neutral Rifleman screening their escape was dispatched by a German Rifle A. Then the big guns and some trench mortars wound the British Corps. Moltke comes out fresh from vacation and kills the British Corps.

Another force of guns are sent against French trenches near Liege. The French are shelled and three armies come in to defeat three French Rifle Rs before retiring to safety.

Another British Corps gone?! But how guns reached British at all? The only road to them was pillaged by Belgian Infantry during the IBT in front of my eyes! Or was it a railroad? Can't wait to see what went wrong there for us...

Tigranes said:
Or was it a railroad?

It was a railroad. In the previous year the French shelled the improvements around Metz pretty heavily but their guns could not reach that particular tile and the railroad there was intact.

Hey,

My computer took a dump on me. Or it could just be the USB Modem. It's pretty old. I will try to dl the save from my email, but I can't promise much. I can still play Civ (I think), but I can't access the internet. Keep you informed.

I'm back. :D

Will have the save and report tonight.

Went down again for a day. But we're back on line.

More Rusian Maneuvers. Prepping the Western Front.

In the Black Sea, the Nicolas Gang crater a tile WSW of Sinope.

The trusty French Observation Planes hve spotted the Army Group Lodz recouperating in Hannover at 20/23.

South of Liege, about a dozen German Howitzers wer spotted within the Ground troops there. ****er Batteries were sent in and at the loss of 1 they eliminated 10 Howitzers. One of the CBs promoted. When there was only 1 Howitzer left, the lst CB attempted to take it but instead was over run by an A-Inf. :dunno: (No option was given for attacking a Howitzer)

gps to Tigranes

I am sorry for that last CB... Unfortunately, stealth works in that very way --- one always needs at least 2 options to be able to use stealth -- choose among the options... From historical perspectives it makes some sense that counterbattery fire was the most effective when a claster of enemy units where attacked. Not a single unit...

Finally!

Spoiler :
The basis of Room 40 operations evolved around a German naval codebook, the Signalbuch der Kaiserlichen Marine (SKM), and maps (containing coded squares), which had been passed on to the Admiralty by the Russians. The Russians had seized them from the German cruiser Magdeburg when it ran aground off the Estonian coast on 26 August 1914. Two copies of the four that the warship had been carrying were recovered; one was retained by the Russians and the other passed to the British.

In October, 1914 the British also obtained the Imperial German Navy's Handelsschiffsverkehrsbuch (HVB), a codebook used by German naval warships, merchantmen, naval zeppelins and U-Boats. This had been captured from the German steamer Hobart by the Royal Australian Navy on 11 October. On 30 November a British trawler recovered a safe from the sunken German destroyer S-119, in which was found the Verkehrsbuch (VB), the code used by the Germans to communicate with naval attachés, embassies and warships overseas.

British Navy was very effective this turn! First our Old BAttleship near the Dutch Coast sunk German Destroyer and recovered the codebook, obtaining Elite Status. London imidiately started to work at British Wonder Room 40 (requires Newton University) which will be ready next turn. :whew:

German CA south off Dogger Bank was defeated by Grand Fleet flagship Iron Duke himself, hoping for the Veteran status, but alas for no avail. Finally German CL very close to NW tip of Germany was sunk by underwater explosion.

Turkish mine was eliminated near Haifa.

BEF is in the great distress over the death of the only British Corps. However successes of French Counterbattery operation inspired British gunners who have destroyed 3 Filed Howitzers loosing just one CB...

For the first time in the game British War Materials eliminating shortages for all 3 Alies -- French (near Bordeaux), Italians (Naples) and Russia (Tallin)!

Italy

Only Italian Navy was active during this turn. In Aegean Sea, near Lesbos (the largest island there) Italian DD has cleaned some mines and recovered some Ottoman Survivors, being promoted to Vet status.

Coastal Submarine (attack 9) recklessly attacks cursed Austrian BB redlines it, but fails to sink her.

The bulk of Italian Fleet shells Fiume.

Wow you guys had enough CB saved up to destroy a total of 13 guns of mine!

Looks like I underestimated you. LOL
Congratulations.

Guys I will not have internet access for the next 24 hours. There will be a delay obviously playing my turn. Hope to resume operations tomorrow. I will not be able to post anymore messages nor respond to email today.

Sorry for the delay.

Not a problem, Moff Jerjerrod. Hope you're having less troubles than I had this week.

Wow you guys had enough CB saved up to destroy a total of 13 guns of mine!

I am VERY surprised by the amazing luck Cyc's CBs had this turn. Forest has only 25% defense bonus for destroyed Howitzers, but when I was doing the same I have lost 1 CB for 3 kills. It is not common at all to trade 0 CB for 10 kills! :crazyeye:

But I did lose a Counter Battery. And many were almost destroyed from over-use....
