I won't be doing any tooltip analysis for these since my PC is having issues and often spontaniously shuts down (apparently the power supply is reaching the end of it's life) and I can only reliably watch videos on my phone which has a rather small display.

I love the emancipation artwork...it looks scary! :)

The Upgrade Screens are also very interesting.
Level 3 ranged infantry looks like a mortar and Level 4 some bipedal gun?

A lot of new unit names there. Nice find.

Hmmm in that PCgamer video I saw trade routes and I'm a little bit worried. If I read this correctly it was a choice between a lot of production or some very low culture/science bonus with a station.

I hope we either get more routes or that it gets more balanced later in the game. At the moment of the video it was a nobrainer to take the huge production increase at 5:50. Don't want this game mechanic to turn again in a Internal >> External scenario.

Getting eliminated by Siege worms

I noticed that in these videos and the gameplay video by Northernlion - they were quite aggressive against the aliens, and not smart about avoiding the Nests. In fact, I think I saw a quick clip of a Kraken by one of the coastal cities, which I'm pretty sure we shouldn't see in the first 100 turns

I think figuring out how not to piss off the aliens and be eliminated by them is going to be one of the key focuses in the first few turns.

ScrewAttack seemed strangely surprised (and disappointed) that this was "a civ game". What did they expect?

It seems that units upgrade every 5 affinity levels (after their initial upgrade)

Also cities seem to add +2 food to the tile (rather than a minimum)... not sure about production

and you have the option to turn production into any of the other 4 resources (energy, science, culture, or food)

Yeah, that video was all around crappy. They were clearly clueless. Most likely, they had seen the announce trailer and didn't pay attention to anything sense then.

You know, I understand Firaxis wanting coverage, but it would be nice if that coverage came from people who actually enjoy the series and pay attention. Some of these first impressions come across as "the game is probably great but I don't really like civ that much in the first place."

Sending trade routes to stations can also come with other bonuses, such as a free Soldier every time the trade unit completes a trade cycle.

Stations are essentially a new form of the city-state.

Also, in a couple of the other videos, it was noted that the benefits from a given station can increase after a trade route with them has been completed, on a 'tier' system. So while 4 production seems like a no-brainer, it might never increase while the 2 production, 1 culture 1 science might eventually go up to outshine it. If that's the case, it becomes a short-term vs long-term investment as opposed to a no-brainer.

So have any one paused and read the victory conditions yet?

You mean the mechanics parts or the flavor description?

Done both, but can't remember all the flavor description.
The mechanics only describes the first step.

Hm making one expidition with one Explorer seems a lot easier than teching a super expensive tech and building a wonder for contact victory, or maybe i hanger misunderstood?

Someone said he was aiming for a "cultural victory". But there's no analogue of a cultural victory, is there? They basically all seem like science/production victories (except for domination).
