I think it can be either a Warrior(which I hate, it looks like a caveman) replacement for any civ. Or it could be an upgrade for warrior, for any civ.

So.... how was the game? :D

The game was great. I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the atmosphere with all of the singing and chanting. And the game was pretty good, too--especially through the first half when it was 0-0 until abour the 43rd or 44th minute, if I remember correctly.

Wow - you live in Mannheim!??! I had a penpal there when I was at school and I visited him. It's a nice place; he lived on Herzogenstrasse, if you know it.

Well, I stay in Mannheim and Darmstadt for the summer. My girlfriend is from Darmstadt but studies in Mannheim. So, when I come to visit for the summer, I'm usually in one of those two places. I definitely like it here, too.

Here is a link to the figure and props that I created for my Bronze Axeman unit. Be warned that the models have a lot of polygons and render slowly. I'm also distributing the textures that I used for the unit, but I would really, really prefer it if I did not see the textures used for other units without some strong modification. For example, I don't want to see other units running around with the same shield design. If that happens, I won't post things in the future. :)

you should post that in the post you have the Bronze Axeman's props in...

If I were to introduce this unit in the epic game, I'd probably put him at Bronze Working, 2.2.1, 25 shields. :)

As for assigning him a nationality, he reminds me of certain depictions of Sea People warriors, who fought both against and for Egypt in the terminal bronze age. Their descendants included the Philistines of Biblical fame.

Really nice unit. :goodjob:

Some people assign him to the hellenized egyptians(post Alexander's conquest)

He is supposed to be a bronze warrior, so "some people" are doing bad. :p

I'd say a warrior for Israel or Phonecians, if anyone have them in their games.

Indeed, it would make little sense to have a bronze warrior post Alexander, since bronze weapons have a tendency to break when they hit iron. ;)

The Greeks didn't tend to use axes as far as I know - they were more into spears, but the Egyptians certainly had axemen - so an early replacement for the Egyptians is possible (perhaps a copper age warrior with 2-1-1).

However, it does seem to have a Greek feel to the unit. I think the thing it would put me in mind of the most is a Mycenae or Minoan warrior, from around the time of the siege of Troy. I'm still not sure that the Greeks used axes at Troy, but I'm pretty sure that the Minoans did. So, after discussing that with myself for a while, I would conclude that he would work best for a Minoan warrior replacement (the Minoans should start with bronze working since they should be scientific, like the Greeks, so there's no problem with having a bronze unit from the beginning of the game). That does mean you need a Minoan civilization to put him into though. :mischief:

There's a simple end to this argument: He's a Hellenised Egyptian wearing bronze-painted Iron armor, and with a bronze-painted Iron axe head :p

(incidentally, my spell check does not think "axe" is a real word...)

Seeing the above pictures from wargaming.net it occurred to me, im going to use him as an Etruscan unit unit! Along with the Etruscan Chariot.
