New Units??

Yes, but that was a pre staged demo. Remember the MG next to the citadel had no damage. I am not saying they have added WWI ships, but I would not rule out the possibility completely. It would be nice to see a battle cruiser or something. Maybe a torpedo boat.

Why wouldn't they stage it to reflect what you'll actually get. They didn't have Knights and Stealth Bombers. People use the fact that it's prestaged to suggest that it isn't an accurate representation of the game, but I can't possibly see why they wouldn't want an accurate representation of what you'll get in the game.

maybe they need people who know what they're doing, in game, on the marketing team ;)

The Jet Fighter is already a Stealth Fighter.:crazyeye:

Your right of course, but why call it a jet fighter? It actually is classified as a stealth air superiority fighter. Really it is a stealth fighter, not a jet fighter. BTW it sucks in game. I lost more F22s than I did the WW2 fighters in my last game. Apparently their stealth capability is not working very well. Probably one reason that I felt they were not being represented as stealth aircraft in game. I know it's been decommissioned, but I miss my F-117s.

IDK you tell me, but thats what many people are saying. The demo is setup for you to see what they want you to see, it is not all that far fetched. And it could be easily done.

^ The demo is set up, but why wouldn't it be set up accurately?

They have people who know how to make a scenario with units placed for the purposes of a demonstration who otherwise accurately included the correct units but somehow don't really know what's being included in the game so they make a mistake with navies? How realistic is that? Especially since this was the producer of the game who was giving the demo, so he should hopefully know what's being put in it.

ofc, by that logic, the games are running really slowly, tech wise vs the turn.

It's an obvious setup save, but I doubt Dennis is verifying the integrity of 'would this happen in normal play?' They're trying to show off something specific, and so will set things up to show that.

I see no reason why it would not be an accurate representation of gameplay, but they could be trying to hide what they don't want us to see. That is the whole reason for a setup demo, which is used to deceive us. If they put, say, a WWI destroyer in, they probably may want that to be a later surprise. This is what they could have done. So they bombard the Ethiopian coastal city with later naval units, and hide the fact they have added a WWI ship. It does not mean they did, it is speculation. Although, I hope they are hiding the fact that they have added a WWI dreadnought or destroyer.

As far as the gameplay itself everything was fine, except the MG taking no dmg from citadel. Of course all of this could just be representing a certain aspect of gameplay and thats it, as MadDjinn said.

Another thing that we need to keep in mind that it's a marketing presentation aimed at more than just us Civ fanatics (no pun intended). They knew we'd go over the video but they are aiming this presentation at a wider audience, especially the press. While many people are familiar with Civ, people don't necessarily know the ins and outs of it like we do.

Then why have accurate WWI units elsewhere. The whole point was to show off the new WWI units. If they had other WWI units, why not include those two? Given there are two units left and still other plausible UUs, I don't think both units are going to be WWI boats.

Yes, I don't believe so either. They would have showed us any new WWI ships. It's too much to hope for, but a medieval ship is not. Hopefully we get that.
