At emperor difficulty you get 15% of your pop as supply while AI get 25% of their pop as supply. Maybe that's part of the explanation.

Also they might have built more military buildings and defense than you did.
Japan's population is not that much higher than mine. I have 7 cities they have 6. I've built military buildings in all my cities so it should still not be that much of a discrepancy.

I don't know if promotions add to war score.
 
Yes it seems to affect all maps.
I don't actually know how to clear the cache..!
I'll try re-installing if there isn't anything else to try
As far as I recall it gets deleted when you do a new installation; or assuming you are running windows it's located in (depending on version of windows probably) %userprofile%\documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 5\cache and you can just delete the cache folder when/as the game is not running and it will get recreated next time the game launches. (just copy and paste that sting into and explorer window starting with % and it should take you to the directory)
 
Lua.log just has this in it and nothing else:

I've been using random Fractal maps.

Edit: clearing the cache did it! Thank you! I'll have to remember that one.

If you quit the game and then open it again, the logs will be cleared. The results only appear after you generate the map.
 
AI military has improved a lot on chieftian, great work! its a slog real hard work to bring the cities down to 0 late game the ai is also clever in trying to outflank me nice one caught me out a few times
 
Anyone else having weird happiness issues in this version? It's like that same issue from the last version, where it's really hard in the early eras. Current game with Spain, only 3 cites built, classical era, most of authority unlocked, one trade route to a city to stop unhappiness from disconnection and happiness is jumping from 70% to 42% erratically. Built a wonder and it dropped about 10%. Surely that isn't right? Maybe a mod conflict?
 
Barbarian workers still disappear on capture in this version?
I mean a barb capture your worker, you immediately counter-capture him and PUFF no worker anymore.

No. I have recaptured several workers so far- Both mine and others. So that issue should have been fixed.

While you have low population and low happiness in the early game, even 1 Unhappiness can be felt as a huge change. Try to watch your cities before they grow, prioritize happiness / unhappiness reducing buildings if need be, improve tiles as fast as you can, and import as many luxuries as you can.

From my experience, he is almost always okay - good, but rarely exceptional. I wouldn't even consider calling him too strong.

No issues, China looks very scary, the new tile improvement is really strong, austria and songhai are banned in my games.
 
I am playing on version 3.1 (not 3.1.1). "End turn" will not work at the end of my current turn (turn 175). Please advise me.
Did you manage to solve this in the end?
I got the same issue at around T275 (epic speed).
 
I cant even get into a game: After the loading screen I am defeated immediately and the world looks weird: just sky and some water. Tried it with pangea and continents on a large world On a standard size the game could create a world though. But still I have this problem:

Not sure this is the right place for this post/comments but I assume you guys will correct me or route me to the right place. I come back to Vox every couple a months as I've been playing old world- and I'm loving the new version and truly impressed (tbh I've always been impressed with Vox) but I love the new look and feel of the tech tree, the tips and even the new barbs although it has been tempting to farm, I hate that phrase farming as it ruins immersion for me- but it does seem realistic to me in earlier time periods or really any time periods for barbs or pissed off people to continually spawn (i.e. roman empire, medieval europe, america, african, etc) outside the countries borders and it changes gameplay to make more engaging ( it helps that I have orders and terracotta) especially now that the AI seems the best I've ever seen it - it is truly amazing now- ( the Celts put down a citadel behind two hills and I can't get at it (even with tech lead)- it was like the perfect placement ( so far my first game back has been truly amazing strategically).

A couple questions/comments- (I try to read and look at the updates/voting since last time I played but I know I probably miss much).

  1. I'm getting the Naga from militaristic CS- it does not have the Skirmisher doctrine - is that accurate/correct for gifted troops now. ( btw love the new skirmisher doctrine- finally makes this class as useful for something other than medics for me)
  2. For luxury WLKTD- it keeps requesting luxuries I already have and then giving me a WLTKD- is this how this works now? I kind of liked how it worked previously because I would actively have to seek out those resources so it made it more interesting gameplay to try to get the WLKTD/growth.
  3. I always play on the commuitas(sp) maps specifically for VOX, which I like- but I see other you tubers with other maps (like Milea's maps) are these significantly different from the commuitas map or would be recommended to play these as I'm looking for different types of experience and maps usually play a big part- or what about playing the other older map types -- i.e. do those other older map types work well or what is main difference between them and the communitas map?
  4. My initial intro is all black and white- did this change too or is it an known issue (i.e. should I worry about this) ?
  5. I saw a post saying the march buff makes the march promotion kinda must have promotion or solely best or something like that - as with vanilla I always took march but with the initial march CS reduction I rarely took - so when I started playing I believed March was must have on all troops as well and went that route - but the longer I play I no longer necessarily agree- march is really not that useful for melee that are holding ground ( around a city for example) as they are already remaining fortified so more CS, healing or movement is better as they are already healing each turn.

Your DB is probably seriously corrupted. If a fresh VP reinstall (and deletion of cache, but the autoinstaller does it) doesn't help, then I'd advise you to do a check gamefiles integrity in steam library on the game, maybe some files are missing.

Nah, he used a map that doesn't support VP. Several base game maps have already been modded to be VP compatible, but some aren't yet.
Starting a game and then have only clouds and a defeat screen is a map generation problem.

Yes, thats intented, so you are not punished for having a wide variety of luxuries.
