Does anyone else find it amusing that those most fervently defending the PS3 want to talk endlessly about its hardware, or how many pixels it can display on HD TVs? Instead of, you know, GAMES?

MGS4 *****. I dont need to say anymore.

Metal Gear Solid 4 :)

All sides do that, and it's always been happening. Frankly, I find it more pathetic that people can get so worked up about a specific console at all, especially with games becoming so multi-platform. In my day, you had to choose between Sega or Nintendo and damn well live with the brands that came with it :old:

You do have a point, but still, the most popular games are often restricted. Final Fantasy, GTA, Halo, Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., MTGS, Sonic; these are all system specific.

Old man. ;)

True, which is why I said 'becoming' multi-platform. Besides, out of those ones, Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros. and Halo(?) are developed by the actual console companies, so it's very unlikely you'll see them jump ship. MGS and Final Fantasy have games on different consoles, though their 'main games' currently stick to a specific company (MGS to Sony for example, but that can change). Sonic and GTA are multi-platform, though the latter hasn't been seen on a Nintendo console (unless you include the Game Boy version). :)

That's getting kinda pedantic though. The main point is that as long as there are different console brands, there will always be console-specific games. The simple reason being that each company needs them in order to be able to promote their own console. However third-party game developers are increasingly making their games multi-format to gain the most sales. From there it's just a case of consumer preference.

And I'm not much older than you, whipper-snapper! :D

Everything considered, i think the SNES doesn't have to hide behind its predecessor and has a bright future ahead as a Next-Gen Console. The Mega-Drive doesn't stand a chance, even though it had a head start of a year or so. With games like Secret of Mana, SNES will blow the Mega-Drive clean out of the water. :)

 As if. Mega-Drive can be summed up in one word - speed. Face it, Mario is a tired format, the same old thing. We have Sonic, which blasts anything the "Super" NES can offer. What's nintendo going to do to combat that? Stick Mario and friends on a bunch of go-karts

Well, Sonic is an improvement over Alex Kidd, i'll grant you that. Of course, when you mention speed, what you really mean is that this Sonic game is only winnable for people with a rampant Attention Disorder Syndrome. Players without it will surely develop it, if exposed to it over an extended period of time.
In fact, i will go as far as to say that Sonic is threatening our youth! Besides robbing them of any sense of decency as far as hair colour and style is concerned, it will tempt them to imitate Sonic and become nudists! Also, it will lead them to develop a "cut an run" approach to any challenges they might encounter. All too clearly do we see the liberal agenda at work here!

I already wrote my MP in order to inform him of this hell-spawned console and urge every responsible parent to do the same!

Alex Kidd is over man, his days in Miracle World are long gone. It's time to play with the big boys now. Dr. Mario? I hear he isn't even a real doctor. To give credit, the NES was a formidable system, and brought people back to the world of video games...but it's time to put away the toys.

And violence? Pah, that's Nintendo upbringing for you. I bet if they brought out a fighting game...sort of a combat game to the mortal death, Nintendo would censor the violence. Sega knows the true appeal

Nintendo games has always lacked in ultraviolence. You can never sneak upon anyone, break their arm and/or slit their throat in a particular bloody and gory fashion.

 I know what you mean but give it time. Let's talk again in 6 months. ;)

Exactly what I was about to say.

I plan on buying a 360 when I feel it is worth the price. So far, none of the games have really grabbed me. I'll probably buy it when Halo 3 comes out.

OK, I think we can agree on that. I will be more than happy to reassess the PS3 (and all consoles) as more games are released. :)
