NHL 2010 Playoffs

Here's an odd fact:

The last 3 teams to have Chris Pronger as a member all went to the finals (Oilers[2001], Sharks[2002], and now Flyers), and he's won it once as a team (with the Sharks his first year there in 2002). Pronger has been a big factor in deciding games for the Flyers, especially against Montreal lately. The one game he played poorly, the Flyers lost. All the other games when he was playing his best, the Flyers won.

Makes a guy just how aware how much one guy can affect the game without having to be the goalie.

Here's the last 4 teams. Pronger 2001 St Louis made it to the conference finals Lost to Colorado(YES AVS).
Pronger in 2006 Edmonton made it to the cup lost but however edmonton missed the playoffs the year after when he left. Also he was the first defenceman to take a penalty shot in the stanley cup finals and he scored. Pronger in 2007 Anaheim won the cup. 2010 when he left anaheim missed the playoffs. Now this year Pronger goes to philly makes it to the finals. Leighton and Boucher have played good but it also helps when u got chris pronger.

Not much love for the Phillies

Since I got introduced to the game through EA Sports NHL'99, I'm a big Philly fan. The Lindros, Recchi, LeClair line was great. But we became too good at the game and played a large part of it with a lesser team at the time, the Boston Bruins. I think Ray Borgue (peace be upon him) played for them.

Not kept tabs on the game for years after that until I got NHL 09 (PS2) for my birthday. Been playing the heck out of it and started following the NHL again.

So, using my playstationbased knowledge of the game, Phillies in 6.

Going to game 1 and working on game 2. Question is whether to wear the red Toews "pre-C" jersey or the Black Toews Winter Classic jersey. I've had pretty good luck with the Winter Classic but the "pre-C" is kinda cool.

You see a whole lot more watching in person than you would on tv. And while I'm not anywhere near as good as these guys are, I've actually picked up a few plays for my beer league teams while attending live events.

Yeah, all valid points. I suppose I am a bit of a "if you go to a game you gotta get into it, there shall chanting, screaming, and no sitting" idealist but then again that should probably only apply to soccer games.

I'm sitting in the 300 level blue line 7th row and they were $400 for me but are online for $530.

I find I see/catch more when watching a game on TV than in person.

I go to games for the atmosphere and the experience. If I wanted to learn anything from these guys, I'd sit in front of my TV & PVR with a notepad.

Depends where you sit. I see half of the Flame games from the 300 level and I love the way you get to see the game flow from up there. You get the best experience, fans and such, plus the great view to watch plays develop. From a fan standpoint I think it is up there in best seats. Corner seat in the second bowl is best, only cause you dont need to move your head much to watch, and most importantly you can see the whole ice surface. The lower bowl stinks, IMO. Do you like plexi-glass? YAY! \o/ I think we scored!!!!

TV you are at the mercy of the camera man, who may or may not be on that night. and you miss too much.

OT - Bring the Cup back to the West, Chicago. 5 games.

I find it's the opposite. I always get frustrated watching on TV because it is impossible to watch the entire play. The camera is always too centred on the puck carrier. When someone is out of position, you won't notice. When a play develops or breaks down you can never asses who was responsible because of the limited view.

The perfect example is when the puck carrier is at the blueline during a power play. Often three of his teammates will be out of view on TV. What am I supposed to yell at the screen when i can't see the open man?

All I can say is what a strange game. The best lines were all minus 3+ (Kane was just brutal), the Flyers had no penalties (a couple no calls), Leighton gets pulled, scoring was out of control, a shorty, the Flyers 4th line, goalie masks falling off...wow just weird. I can still hear Pronger's bomb that hit the post with a loud *PING* and I was in the 300 level! Just wow.

I think Hawks fans felt fortunate pulling that one out and was the one we had to win. I'll be there again for what I hope is a statement game like 6-1. The one part of the game that was solid for the Hawks was our faceoffs at around 62%. What must change for both teams is first line play.

In my drunkeness and jubilation, I think I was talked into going to Philly this week. We'll see if anyone remembers that conversation.

Wild game last night, watched it with a couple friends here last night. Was a bit of a local affair, as the Philly goalie (Leighton) is from Petrolia, Ontario, a tiny town just outside of Sarnia, Ontario, where my new roommate is originally from.

And I'm not sure who, but somebody who scored 2 goals for Chicago (or was it just 1? We were drinking heavily) was from London, Ontario, where I reside. (I think they mean Bolland here.. He played for the London Knights for 4 years, but is from somewhere around Toronto)

Either way, good and crazy game
