NHL Regular Season Thread

I think we can settle down together and agree that no matter what, Montreal is more deserving of the Title "Hockeytown" than Detroit, regardless of whether Victoria/Vancouver/Calgary/Edmonton/etc deserves it more than them.

and i might try and take that class even though i dont go to McGill. :mischief:

It's not McGill, it's De Montreal. It's one of the French ones (and probably second only to McGill on the island)

Over two weeks without post? Shame on you guys!

Anyway. The news fell today on Brodeur - he's out for 3-4 months. Unless the Devils have a ace in the sleeve, that may well be their playoff chance going up in smoke right there.

yeah Brodeur, that will teach him to try to get to Patrick Roy's records!

oh man, I don't know what the Devils are going to do without him. I guess we'll see if they can keep up, but they will need a lot more scoring if they are going to allow 2-3-4 goals most games.

I've got your post right here: %?*Q#$&?#$!@&*()@#!$*() Sens and their &*()@#$&*(!@#*()!@#)_ third jersey and their ?#$?!@!@#$&*()@# pathetic excuse for a professional hockey franchise.

I've been regularly stabbing myself in the eyes with hot iron forks that I've lifted from the oven without protecting mitts: it's a pleasant sensation compared to this #$&*(!@#&*()!@#&*()!@#*()!@# season.

I kid, I kid, but I got to tell you, after 10 years of looking down on the rest of the Eastern conference, it's difficult to look up in the standings and see Boston and Washington as the teams to beat.

The thread lives!

Is it just me, or is Montreal getting kharmic payback for all the lack of injuries last season? I'd complain about their underperforming, but with all the people we keep losing, they're doing very well indeed - keep in mind this is a team playing practically without its first/second line (it's never clear whether the Plekanec line or the Koivu line is first, of course).

On the other hand, I suppose that when you have four second lines, you can afford to play without one.

Man Pboily, you hold the truth :p

And Mikhail Grabovski proves once again that he doesn't belong in the NHL (even if its Toronto), by way of picking a fight with a referee after last year "I don't play enough, I won't bother flying to the next game" incident.

"I think he is not Belarussian now, he is French because I never fight with Belarussian guys"

WOW MiG. great job... Sergei Kostitsyn, born in Navapolatsk, Belarus, is French...

btw, Wojtek Wolski

So, what's everyone thinking of all the Vinny rumors? EDIT: Vincent Lecavalier, that is.

Seems like Tampa may be considering the trade, with five teams rumored to be in the running. Montreal seems like a major runner, but that may not be true, and Montreal also has a tendency to always miss the boat (Briere, Hossa, Sundin...).

On the other hand, Montreal with Lecavalier - particularly with his eternity-and-a-day contract - and the plethora of young'uns we've got...would be a very, very scary thing.

I've been to a few Blackhawks games. It's fun to have them back and even watch them on tv again. Nothing against Dollar Bill Wirtz but dying may have helped this franchise more than anything.

Sounds like the Vinny deal is off the table now. Honestly I am glad, I feel like Tampa would just not be the same without him.

It looks like its not so off the table according to Montreal's sports radio.

They say there will be a trade with montreal within the next year!

So the most boring game of the year is done again, and for once it wasn't quite so boring, thanks to a surprise overtime and shoot-out (when was the last time an all-star game went in sudden death, anyway?), and despite fan worries, the East wasn't obliterated due to Montreal voters overkill (:-p).

Now we can finally get to the really fun part of the season.

I watched it and I thought it was pretty entertaining. Not as good as the regular season games, but players got to show off some neat tricks and everyone seemed to be having fun. And I thought the conversation with Luongo on ice was really cool.

It was uber nice, and it was fun to watch.

Komisarek HAD his place in the lineup, Its about freaking time a devensive defenceman got a start at the all-star.

The are way more valuable in the teams then they seem!

Trade news!

To Atlanta
2nd Round Draft Pick (2009)
3rd Round Draft Pick (2010)

To Montreal
Conditional Draft Pick
D Mathieu Schneider

Source? I don't see it anywhere.

If that's true then the Canadiens just got perhaps the best puck-moving defenseman available for a trade this season other than Bouwmeester. Didn't Schneider used to play for Montreal a little while back?
