NiNES: A Broken Galaxy

@BananaLee: Welcome onboard! I'm sure everyone will be keen on making friends with your faction... Now I'll just have to figure out what to do with that attribute of yours... :hmm: And I'll get you your starting screen shot in a short while.
Are we able to form treaties or are we not yet in contact with each other?
You have no idea if you are the lone survivors or not. I.e. no, no contact yet.
Way to miss the point , and stars are named of course, its just planets are seen as only temporary stops and sources sources of raw materials so why bother naming them something special? An attempted poignant comment on a nomadic lifestyle ;).
Oh, but I didn't miss the point, just couldn't resist an ironic remark. Should have added a :p I guess. :p

Btw, I hope no one missed the deadline for orders in the first post. In any case, the deadline for the first set of orders is Thursday, at 20:00 GMT.

Start for Capella:

Confirming Nod.

No idea. I suspect that Symphony and I will be declaring war on him.

TARGETS VERIFIED, COMMENCING HOSTILITIES.

It makes me happy to know that should I be required to kill somebody, odds are I won't be snuffing out anything unique or vaguely creative.
I like this way of dealing with metagame mockery.

48 h (and a few minutes) to deadline, 2/9 orders in. :scan:

“Space is harsh. Infinitely harsh. Those who find it difficult to live on the surface of a fertile, habitable world have no right to be travelling outside of a city, let alone off of a planet.”

-- Sezurenian Colonial Handbook circa 7 years post Scourge

* * *

It wasn’t the first time that somebody had viewed the central planet of Sezuren, Sartys, from orbit since the Scourge, but it was arguably the most important. The reconstructed scout vessel Magellan was sending video feed back down to the surface for the public at large. It was completely symbolic, of course – the Federal government had been using the Magellan for over a year and a half by then and had reconstructed two other ships of its class. It was thanks to these ships that the Warp Gates, devices that had been assumed destroyed in the Scourge, were in fact very much intact and still very functional.

It was this discovery that had brought Alesia Maradoth and her party into power. While the old government had focused much on rebuilding slowly, Alesia’s party – the Nebulan Party – sought to create a new vision for the Federation as a shining beacon of power and unity throughout the galaxy. In fact, the Nebulan takeover of the government was so complete that the previous party completely dissolved and was absorbed into the victor, effectively making the Colonial Federation a one-party state. The public did not much notice nor care however, the stirring speeches of the lady Prime Minister invoking images of a vast interstellar dominion with nearly infinite resources at their disposal.

The first act of Maradoth and the Nebulan Congress of Sezuren was to defend itself from outside threats – the reconstruction and sometimes jury-rigging of fightercraft, just in case. After all, there might be other human survivors out there that are hostile. It was also the Nebulan-controlled Congress that approved the reconstruction of the Atlantis and Ponce de Leon, sister ships of the Magellan. And now that all three scout ships were considered to be in good working order and the damage to Sezuren believed to have been reasonably assessed, there was only one course of action imaginable for the three ships.

That is why the signals were being released to the public live. The ships were leaving the system and would not return for a while…if at all. Dangerous? Absolutely. But the people of Sezuren were far from cowards and did not fear the hardships that might follow. They were, after all, colonists.

OOC: It's not like it's bloody hard to come up with at least a synthesis of something that looks new. For example, my faction is 1 part Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, 2 Parts Subarashii, 2 parts Shinra Electric Power Company, 1 part Morgan Industries, 3 parts evil megacorporation (Tyrell Corporation, Blue Sun, Weyland-Yutani, so on), and 3 parts arms manufacturer.

I could very easily have just picked any one of the things I just listed but instead I mixed them together a little. The result is something familiar and yet vaguely unique. That other people have such difficulties points to the conclusion that they don't cook or mix drinks very often.

I've put up the list of known star systems. I have also made the following two additions to the rules:
Rules on economy said:
Below I will list a number of things that you can spend your PP on. In principle you are free to spend your PP on whatever you want, even things not listed anywhere, but talk to me first then.
Rules on Stability said:
Stability can go up or down depending on your actions or other circumstances. You may invest PP in propaganda to increase the stability of a system.

I mix drinks! Well alcoholic drinks but they immediately kill any brain cells gained in the process.

Hey what happened to my Tiberium fields attribute?
I changed it to Harsh Homeworld and tweaked the numbers a bit. If you want it to be about Tiberium fields specifically, that's up to you, why not write a story about it? :)
What's with Banana and socially... wrong... governments? :p
I got a lot of Fifth Element vibes reading his faction background. Don't know why really.

I certainly have no objections if players take metagame mockery matters (MMM™) into their own hands... ;)

I have a question, I dont care one way or another, but shouldn't my stability be close to 100% as military units that fight and live together follows orders and help each other out?

Unfortunately for you there are quite a number of civilians on your home planet too. Not only the fighters survived, there were plenty others who followed the advise of the Furians and hid in their bunkers. In OOC terms, if you want to I can add a bonus to stability as part of your Elite Soldiers attribute, but then I would nerf the soldiers a bit to balance. Your call.

No it is fine I was just wondering, I didnt really care anyways. Keep it the way it is.

Question; What ship types do we start off being able to build?
All. Techs will make them better, and cheaper, but you can build them from the start. Or maybe rebuild is a better word.

Research costs for tiers, finally decided upon:
1 @ 5 (fixed), 2 @ 20, 3 @ 50, 4 @ 100, 5 @ 150, 6 @ 250.

For all tiers except 1, the listed numbers are estimates. Actual costs may vary as much as 25% up or down, at random. Unlocking key techs may decrease costs later on.

Cleric's faction updated as per request. Much better than a carrot could have.

28h to deadline, 5/9 orders in. :scan:

(I've already started the update btw, so the faster I get the rest of the orders in the faster it will be up, not before the deadline though since I'm still holding out for new factions).

OOC: I can name most of the references but it's still a synthesis so I'll hold my peace.

Orders sometime in the next 12 hours.
