Rifles may show only around turn 160 at best. Good news, i will probably hit this tech around that time, or a bit later.

Impressive job so far. I guess if you get to the point where you are forced to research Writing you could still try to win without building any science buildings (except for puppets where you have no control over what they build).

in 15 turns. Another ge will pop soon and i have a 2nd GG that i can burn for extra GA turns. I will reach the second policy of honor tree around turn 162(10% adjacent combat bonus). If i can stay afloat until turn 190, 3rd policy(+1
per garrisoned units) will then resolve unhappiness problems fo the last war against Russia.
for gpt. Russia was still neutral, so i got some deals with her. Guarded Greece(and a bit later hostile) wasn't helpful at all. After ga ended, my income was negative. I've sold Paris to Russia for 2500
. My situation looked like this at turn 157 :
I got my 2nd city up and almost finished the iron mine when the Aztecs DoW'd, followed a few turns later by the French and a few turns after that by the Native Americans. I had 2 or 3 archers and 4 warriors to upgrade when the first DoW happened, however I was down to 2 swords and 1 archer by the time the 3rd DoW happened and I still hadn't managed to take any cities because the whole time I was stuck on the defensive.
I ended up abandoning the game on turn 78 out of frustration, in part from the overwhelming waves of enemies, but mostly because I really hate quick combat in Civ 5. I end the turn with most of my units at full health then they're all dead with no indication of how many times they were hit, leaving me completely confused as to what happened. Sure the screen jumping with the animations turn on can be a little annoying and time consuming, but it's far better than the crappy incarnation of quick combat. At least in Civ 4 the quick combat still showed you where the combat was happening, it just didn't play the animations.
Anyway, I won't be retrying this unless there's a way to disable the quick combat.

You made a big trade off to military (lower part of tech tree) for science AND culture (upper part). How does this pay off in a general strategy (fe by getting science and culture for your empire by aquiring puppets)?

Iron shouldnt be a problem - there WILL be some CS having it - and as said - deity ais got enough gold for you to buy some CS

Even with as well as he has played he only has 101 beakers on turn 188. From a science standpoint it is a serious handicap. If it wasn't for the fact the AI is so far from the Tabarnak in military strategy this would be a loss.
6 city states discovered and a pretty wide around around my capitol and some way beyond my capitol. There is only 1 patch of 2 iron (somewhat near capitol and zero city states have iron (1 had a 2 patch of iron just outside its borders).
