Non-Midas With A Vengeance - The Conquests Rematch

Looking at the save now: Meli, excellent work
We have an impressive lead in a variant deity game [party]

One point though: we could have used Bombers with lethal bombardment! That would have made your work a lot easier (but less fun perhaps :p )

Perfect choice of Betazed(?) to have SETI in Constantinople, our major science city :)

EDIT: Persia landed their troops next to our city (Berlin), so they are probably after US  We get 120 gpt and a luxury from them. This could be painful in the next turn. Could we divert them by asking them to join us vs Germany? Hmmm... that probably won't work.

This might be turning into a war vs Persia. I would personally try to keep it as short as possible OR bribe the world vs them.

Not really a problem, infantry is no match for MI. Although yes when he starts landing Tanks and MI of his own and bombing the beejebers out of our cities (he has some aircraft carriers) it could become really annoying.

Bribing the world against Persia sounds bad as it gaurentees 20 turns of war. I would hit them as hard as possible and try and make peace. (if they attack, X-Man isnt that bloodthirsty is he? )

I finally got a chance to read the NMT1 thread.

If I were you guys I would not lanch the ship with lobbing a couple of nukes at Cathy :hammer:

I can't even open the save, but that's just the same problem I had last round with zipped files. If someone could kindly download the zip and upload the pure save file that would be really great! Thanks!!!

Cheers Aggie, you're a star!

Elvis: hope this solves the problem. Good luck in your turns and give those nasty Persians a good hiding :hammer: :D

What about this wild idea: just remove the troops from Berlin and disband that city. It would avoid a confrontation with Persia for one more turn (and guarantee the gpt/luxury from them one more turn), maybe permanently.

EDIT: Corrected spelling (i hope :p ).

Don't worry Elvis, we all have the occasional mishap :). And it's better to make mistakes in a game that is going well than one that is already a struggle. Hopefully you've learned a few things from your turns, and that's the most importnat thing :).

I'll pick up the pieces and clear the mess. Got it ;).

which roster are you looking at Stuck? I'm up now, Aggie on deck, then it's you Stuck! :)

You can lose buildings if riots last for more than one turn. The fact that I know this well is a bit of a comment on my previous civ skills

Out of curiousity, why didn't you cycle ahead when you get one city that riots due to loss of lux? I have noticed others not doing this as well. I was wondering if it was because you didn't expect the riots to be so bad (which happens to me in my solo games sometimes), or because you feel that cycling ahead is exploitive and don't like using it?

Not that it really matters, but my preferred tech path would be miniturization, nuclear power, laser, robotics, space flight, satallites, super conductor.
This gets internet (culture and science) and boosts production (nuclear power and robotics - both add +100% of our base to our shields per turn).

NMTWAV, inherited turn 1505AD

My aim in these turns was to clear up the mess we seem to have gotten into. We're at war with India and Persia, who are our two main rivals, and the last thing we want is to be dogpiled. Our empire is also a bit of a mess, and I intend to sort that out. Anyway, this is a brief rundown:

1) The first thing I did was turn the governor off  I know you're knew to succession games, Elvis, so you may not be aware that you should NEVER EVER turn the governor on in a SG.

2) I want to end the wars with Persia and India, but neither will talk yet. I do not like the offensive we're launching against Persia at all. The force we've sent is completely inadequate and will get cut to pieces. Our transports are covered by a battleship, but with the number of Persian ships in the region, our navy may be sunk in the interturn

3) Major worker shortage! What happened to all the workers on our two islands?! We've got a decent number on our main continent (though I still want more) but not a single worker on the other two islands?! I see we have a number of airfields built, but why do we have airfields built right next to each other?! Is that where all our workers went? :crazyeye: We need many more workers, and we need to keep workers at all times...just because most tiles have been improved does not mean we merge in or consume all our workers. Right now, neither of our uranium sources is hooked, and this is an important task as we will soon be building space parts (and nukes!) :)

4) I had some headbanging moments at the state of our cities, but I won't dwell on them, except to say that in my last turn I spent a lot of effort getting our core cities maxed out, but now I find that a lot of those tiles have been irrigated over, so consequently we have a number of core cities that each have loads of specialists, when instead these cities could each be making an extra 20 shields every turn! Irrigation is fine for corrupt cities, but keeping production maxed is important for core cities. Also, I changed the specailists to scientists rather than taxmen, and ordered up a bunch of mass transits.

5) Made a couple of deals on the inherited turn: swapped fission for amphibuous war with Spain, and renegotiated the silks deal with Russia. Put science to 100%.

6) Got on with the turns. On the first interturn Persian bombers sunk our ships :( I was worried about their ships, but they managed to do the job with bombers alone. Bye bye two armies and myriad other troops...what a waste...

7) Made peace with Persia on turn 1, 1510AD. We gave them computers for it and received 3266g + 398gpt. Then bought ivory from Persia for saltpeter, silks, gems and incense. Began to sort out our units, and had a great time spending 3500g on rushing projects!

8) Trained lots more workers and settlers. In total I think I founded 6 new cities in these turns to plug gaps on our continent. Used the workers to rehook uranium sources and to sort out the food/shields situation in our core cities.

9) Made many trade deals, to try to repatch international relations (didn't help much; although our rep is completely clean everyone is still furious at us!). Most important deals included selling oil to Russia for wines, 159g + 20gpt ( I regretted that slightly a turn later when Russia learned synthetic fibres! But still, Russia is quite weak and at war with Germany, India and Persia, so could use the help). Also, sold Computers to Spain in 1520 for 118g + 188gpt.

10) The Russian city on our continent was razed by the Persians :). The downside is the Persian troops have nowhere else to go and are still sitting there, marvelling at our beautiful empire.

11) Space Flight was researched and Satellites began (at 100%) in 1540AD.

12) Finally made peace with India in 1540. I'm hoping for clean sailing from now until *just before* the launch ;)

13) Most core cities have been maxed again. Military is more or less in one place (armies in Nicaea, ships in Hamburg, I think, bombers in the ex-Arab city nearest the Russians). I kept Elvis' tank regiment around the Russian city (now Persian troops are there) cos I like it! It looks very dandy ;) :D. Satellites is due in 4, and then we can begin lots of ICBMs...

As we're going at about 7-8 turns per tech this game may make it back to me or it may not. Anyway, was great fun all the way and good luck to everyone in this last round! :)
