NOTW XLVIII -- The DOOM Project, Episode II: The Orphans of Oblivion [Game Thread]

Buck you, Im not going to let you waste so much time. If you want me dead, kill me at night.

Oh please, Zack. Policy punishing lynches are dumber than lynching me for being a Miller.

I didn't think you were that poor a player, but by all means, go there. Make your big statement about how poor self-votes are. Meanwhile, I'll make my statement that your vote is just as bad.
And you had the gall to pretend not to care. Tsk tsk.

And why is everyone going to Bogota? The cash? We need to be smarter about these missions...

And why is everyone going to Bogota? The cash? We need to be smarter about these missions...

I can answer that one. The cash will indeed be useful, given that it can be used to purchase items which can severely raise one's discretion, apparently.

If we ever want to do a top priority mission, ones with insane discretion requirements, we will need much higher discretion than what we already have. And I'm not referring to just me.

If we're going to be losing people via lynch and arrest, then the team is going to be losing total discretion, while gaining some via experience.

The answer to that is to gain more discretion than you lose, via credit purchases. Anyone not needed for mission-critical things should be attempting to gain cash.

Checking the requirements for us to achieve a win, we don't win just by obtaining the superconductor.

That mission is very high discretion required, and will raise our wanted level, and so forth. And that's not the only dangerous mission needed to complete.

Based on everything that's happened so far, I think we can assume even after the superconductor mission is complete, there will be other red-color missions which are high priority but also very difficult to complete.

If it takes us several days to gather the necessary data, equipment, and so forth to prepare for each mission, then winning via missions alone could take like 12 days.

If that's the case, we need more equipment. We're not going to win simply by gaining discretion via exp.

The Supercharger is a fairly standard piece of equipment, and should not be unreasonably difficult to locate. All the same, we do not at the present time know of the location of a supercharger that fits the generator's needs. Keep your eyes open.
The Neutron Inducer is high-end technology. We can't waltz into a corner hardware store and purchase one. There are perhaps only a handful of inducers that will fit our needs.
Until the Mission was authorized, I did not know that Fusion Stabilizers even existed. I'm not sure where to start with this one.
The good news is that I've discovered the location of a Superconductor that will fit our needs. The bad news? It's located in Blackwater corporate headquarters, in North Carolina. There's no way we can get in there. We're going to need some sort of plan before we can even think about infiltration.

We'll need to gather data on the locations of the other things. Those will be easier and more critical missions.

But there's prep work to be done before trying to take each big prize, and there are several big prizes needed.

Well, in that case, I'd rather not waste my time with a mission that is going to fail.

unmove; move: Bogota

I think before the day ends we should consider that move.

However, it's clearly the correct move in the following scenario: If that mission doesn't expire if no one goes, then pretty much everyone in the game should do the 5 credit mission today instead.

Then you go after the less credit, more critical mission tomorrow. Possibly, with better equipment and therefore discretion. And maybe do two critical missions instead of one, to make up for lost time.

But that's only a good move if the mission doesn't expire today. I haven't seen where it says whether it does or does not.

Might be a good idea to ask the game host directly.

Buy SCUBA Gear

You wont lynch me today. It is in fact a terrible idea to do so at any time, since when I die the next Day Phase will be skipped. And you will have lost the previous day lynching a townie.

That pretty much seals the argument for doing optional missions wherever they provide a noticeable advantage.

You can have your cake and eat it too, here. Gaining 5 credits and then doing the other mission and gaining 3 credits is better than gaining 3 credits, and accomplishes the same thing.

Everyone should switch destination.

I think it would be a good idea for someone to follow up on this claim, but I'm inclined to believe it because it is not something that the mafia usually counters with.

As for myself, I'm still a dumb lynch but I still argue that if you're going to do it, today is the day. Why wait? You're never ever going to clear me via investigation, and we clearly do have investigators in this game or I wouldn't have this role at all.

Therefore make the call, kill me today, or never kill me. Testicular fortitude may be required, deal with it.

The correct move is not to kill me. For now, I can't support the alternative either.

Unvote JoanK, vote No Lynch

I will suggest those using my negative discretion as an argument for my death look very strange to me. That doesn't make sense on the face of it. There are plausible reasons, such as being permanently un-clearable, but that's not even close to being one of them. That is contrived reasoning, and as such, warrants further scrutiny.

We have 8 to JINR.

We need at least two more for it to have a chance.

We can't get 8 people to switch off this mission, that's too many moving parts for about 12 hours. So that requires Mat93, Seon, Nintz, and classical_hero to make a desicion. Preferably soon.

Indeed, Zack is a fount of reasons. Just read his posts, and he'll give you plenty of reasons.

Which is scummy.

Pizzaguy scans as OPFOR and has negative discretion?? What's the point in keeping him alive, if he is not only useless, but detrimental?

Zack's been behaving badly for a while, this line is where it begins.

Yeah, that's probably it. Seeing myself at CERN confused me too.

Anyway, Vote: Askthepizzaguy

If he's scum, and given that this is ATPG, he might be, we should certainly lynch him, and if he has nothing but scanning OPFOR and negative discretion, he's a hindrance to us and lynching him at least wouldn't hurt.

choxorn's pile on is worthy of note. He offers too many reasons, some of them meta, and others are just unsound.

Zack returns later and does the same thing, offering too many reasons, in fact, all of them, just to make sure all his bases are covered.

Zack's continuation later on didn't just make me retch. Others pointed this out as FOS-worthy.

Joan deserves to be lynched, but I refuse to let a self-vote go unpunished.

Zack is finding plenty of reasons to kill everything. Perhaps because he's not concerned with killing townies, but instead, getting the lynches rolling.

If it takes the Blufor team a long while to achieve victory, then shortening the game is to the Red team's advantage.

Zack seems to be operating under the philosophy of end the game quickly, kill first, ask questions later. Given that he can't find a lynch he doesn't like today, I'd place him at the top of my list right now, choxorn behind him.

Ravus seems to be operating on an ask questions, kill those who don't cooperate strategy, which I won't necessarily cooperate with this time, I have used before many times.

SouthernKing seems to be reacting to choxorn's reasoning rather than directing the action. As such, I don't question his motives at this time, just his reasoning ability.

I'd also wager there's at least one scumbag currently on the JoanK wagon, too, and I'm looking into that.

ATPG, Millers don't scan as scum, they reveal as scum when killed. Not the same.

vote:JoanK for saying that he can outspam me. That shall not happen. :nono:

I very much prefer this Pizza then the hieroglyph version.
