Hey all, Here is an update on my patch status.

I have been diligently checking in with the Aspyr website to see if the mac 1.73 patch is done yet, then i had an idea. I could write them and e-mail and see if they could tell me their schedule. This is the response I got…

Tim,

We here at Aspyr are working diligently to get the newest patches up and running. These patches are extremely large and fix a lot of problems therefore they are taking a great deal of time in both development and testing. We will not release the patch until is meets our game standards.

I have the 1.74 patch. I will be installing it today. This game is clear to switch to 1.74. Thanks for waiting everyone, sorry for the inconvenience.

I guess I shouldn't install yet . . . what is procedure for switching the turn to 1.74?

What happens is the game host (he has the admin password) will have to start the next turn with the patch.

Ruff_Hi listed the exact steps in this thread. I followed it for other PBEM's I hosted, and it worked fine.

Once you upgrade successfully and play your turn, we'll make the switch.

Just to further complicate things ... for those of us who have BtS, if you have patched to 3.13 then your 1.74 is no longer standard 1.74 as the 3.13 BtS patch changes elements of the core Civ 4 program.

Therefore, even though Tim will have patched to 1.74, if you are running BtS 3.13, instead of running dual 1.61 and 1.74, you will need to run dual 1.74's - one patched with 3.13 BtS and one that isn't.

Ok, According to the instructions I will need to upgrade when I get files from both of the games I am hosting. Right now I have neither.

It is a bit of a pain having to continue with dual installs as I was hoping to free up the disc space.

One thing that should make Tim feel better though is that I now have to run a dual for ALL my 1.74 PBEMs, not just his two games.

You would have thought a 3.13 patch that didn't alter vanilla Civ could have been written ... this will be a pain for everyone who is in a 1.74 game and wants to run BtS 3.13.

From what I have read you do NOT want to install BtS 3.13. If you have installed it, I recommend uninstalling all your Civ4 games, re-install the game, and patch them all back up to your current patch. BtS 3.13 is the worse in a long line of bad Firaxis patches.
