Now that we know all the factions - which do you like more than others?

I like to explore spying as an initial offensive measure against other factions, plus I'm kinda patriotic which makes ARC a good first try. Their strengths in infrastructure is kind of a pull as well.

Slavic Federation, because as far as I know, satellites are a new area of effect game mechanic that strongly affects 1UPT gameplay.

Franco-Iberia makes the case for standard gameplay except for a bonus to science via culture. I like to approach the game with a blank state (random settings) and their bonus allows a quicker introduction to Beyond Earth tech. This makes them third.

Panasian Cooperative gets comes fourth because of the excellence in science, energy, and culture.

I also like to go tall and for that, growth as a factional characteristic is key. In this case, I like the Kavithan Protectorate and Pan African Union as a tie in for fifth and sixth respectively.

Trade routes are fun to extend responsibilities for your fighting force (i.e. protecting trade routes) and can pre determine the maneuvers of your military and civilian placements on the map. For this reason, I like Polystralia for it's quixotic nature as a favorite for 7th.

Brazilia lacks growth but is rewarded by health/happiness bonus'. With their military bent, this faction makes a powerful early to mid game stand all by it's own as it might be luxury resource independent.

1. ARC (To me, they are the closest analog to humanity today.)
2. Khavithan Protectorate (I think they are on happy pills, and I want some too.)
3. Slavic Federation (I am inspired by their Historical Pride and Stoicism.)
4. PAU (This time we will hold all the resources! Screw ARC!)
5. Franco-Iberia (Spain and France together, I have got to see that culture.)
6. PAC (I like the Faction Leader but they feel less than fleshed out atm.)
7. Polystralia (Not enough information to intrigue me as yet, but I am hopeful.)
8. Brasilia (The red flag of a Warmonger in MP I expect...boring really.)

By leaders and faction lore alone, this is my personal ranking. This does not mean this would be my order of playing (I am of the random type), and that I won't roleplay distopies if it fits the game and moment, but I order by closeness to what would probably be the playstile more true to my character.

1. Vadim Kolzov and SF.
Technical Excellence and Space Adventuring above else. By now, if something can be said of them is they are over proud and look down on other factions, but care about them at least ;P

2. Rejilaldo Leonardo Pedro Bolívar de Alençar Araripe and Brasilia.
Guys trained for the job, they deserve a good position. They are playing the good superpower for the moment, and Rejinaldo seems a reasonable man, so may not be as bad as your standard militaristic.

3. Daoming Sochua of the PAC
Stubborn know-it-all, but maybe knows what she is doing. It would take a time to see how good/bad is to be under her command or influence (can she accept constructive criticism?). In the last 3D model we saw of her, she looks more young and reasonable... I'm starting to like her.

4. Samatar Barre of the PAU
Candidate for the first places initially, as he seemed a young, idealistic leader full of good vibe, as we know/see more of him, he looks older, and more a manipulator looking for vengeance. Still, Africa deserves a go, so 4.

5. Elodie of Franco-Iberia
Home civ, so it normally should be higher, but for now, it just looks too French. Cultural know-it all leader, seems quite close-minded and dismissive of others... let's wait for more info.

6. Kavitha Takur of Kavithan Protectorate
Really, I would feel uneasy following a prophet blindly, but at least she brought hope and happiness to a scared country. Just for that I may give her the benefit of the doubt.

7. Hutama of Polystralia
I told you not to trust anyone... :) Well, I do not trust him. Polystralia seems too market and media dominated for my taste. Location, being a new power saves them a bit.

8. Suzanne Marjorie Fielding of the ARC.
I do not mind them being a corp. In fact, this could be a good point. However, the fact it is a personalistic project (it's my company, my seeding Project,...) detracts much. I am sorry, but I'm not buying a ticket with a CEO that used his company for whatever god-like desire.

Still not enough information for me to make a ranking. The leader and boni of my own faction don't matter much to me. I'm more about color, city names, city graphics and roleplaying.
Of course I try to win and adapt to the boni, but I take what I get and never choose a faction for it.

1. ARC
2. PAU
3. Slavic Federation
4. Khavitan Protectorate
5. PAC
6. Brasilia
7. Franco-Iberia
8. Polystralia

I'm not sure what it is about ARC, but they ended up being probably the faction that intrigues me the most. I normally don't go much for the "American" faction either, but the backstory and leader seem like an interesting combination.

1. Slavic Federation
2. People's African Union
3. Brazilia
4. Kavithan Protectorate
5. Polystralia
6. Pan-Asian Cooperative
7. American Reclamation Corporation
8. Franco Iberia

1 Polystralia
2 Franco Iberia
3 Brasilia
4 People's African Union
5 Pan-Asian Cooperative
6 Kavithan Protectorate
7 Weyland Yutani ie ARC
8 Slavic Federation

Hard to decide so far. But on what I know so far of there bonuses they fit my play-style in the following order.
1 PAU
2 Polystralia
3 PAC
4 Franco Iberia
5 Slavic Federation
6 Kavithan Protectorate
7 Brasilia
8 ARC

Production bonus is my favorite. Build more things and faster > all other bonuses.

Purity as ARC all the way ;)

Glass the alien freaks, the robot freaks too, and then just pave the entire thing and set up a McDonald's in space. A floatstone McDonald's that comes to you! I'm lovin' it!

We still know next to nothing about the factions' actual advantages. There's not much more than that to like or dislike, except icon color... there are no faction-specific units or structures, unit color schemes are determined by affinity and not faction, and you don't even get to see your own leader.

We know much more than nothing

Known precisely (although subject to change)
FI-1 Free Tech/10 Virtues
Brasillia-+10% melee strength
SF-+20% orbital duration

Known vaguely
ARC-better spies
PAC-production bonus

Hinted.. but uncertain
Polystralia-trade/energy bonus
PAU-territory grabbing

Unknown
Kavitha Protectorate (affinity suspected.. but highly speculative)

I've still not seen confirmation if any factions with a production bonus, so other than that Id pick science / culture / gold bonuses, anything to boost my economy before military.

My opening post expressly asked you to make a choice based on "lore" not game mechanics. Surely each has a philosophy that is quite distinct.

Pac' production bonus was confirmed way back when the devs ansswered civfanatics' questions in a blog.

PAC is currently a favorite but that's only because Daoming's so similar to one of my NPC in my current tabletop RPG campaign. Otherwise when I play civ I enjoy going tall and I enjoy money, so I guess purity polystralia if purity indeed is the go tall affinity.

Lore wise though, I lean the most toward supremacy. If you can go tall, supremacy and PAC. It'd be perfect for me :)
