Nubia livestream collateral thread

Man if rivers were navigable with some rocks blocking the way in the main game too, if gold were a main game resource as well, if each district had a unique design depending on the civilization it belongs to.... please Firaxis, include these features in the main game somehow, it would be amazing! I´ve been waiting for navigable rivers since Civ 3!

Also... I mean... I guess people don´t play these scenarios over and over and over again for years... I know I never play them, but we do play the main game over and over again for years so since these features and mechanics have been developed and thought about already, please include them in the main game!

Random invasions are really cool too! Firaxis you did in this scenario, make the maine game great too (and fix the AI in the process if you can too... pls)

Forgive the history geekage, but it is my nature and profession.

Don't worry, you're not the only one here.

I actually feel super ignorant about history when I'm on here, while I think I know more than most people.

I could care less about Gold, how The Nile works in the scenario is what I'd love to see implemented into the base game, not every river of course, but 1 or 2 on huge maps that are navigable and a super pain to cross.
I totally agree, some navigable rivers on the map would be awesome.

I wonder if it would be possible to create it with map scripts?

I don't know. Does @Seven05 have any idea? The detailed worlds mod is great.

Yeah I've been too! It will add a lot of strategy, and makes no sense they not include yet!

Ps. I know that with the pass of the years, it was added to the game more depth and micromanagement in the purpose of a better strategy game, and I like and wanna more. One thing that I can't undertand is, since we are talking about navigable rivers, so we are talking about tiles scales, why the scales of tiles, for me at least, it look unproportional! I don't know...I read a lot about the developers did talk (districts are like smaller cities comparing real world, etc) but I don't know....you felt where I do want to go?

anyone noticed the icon next to swordsman in the iron working tech? minute 20:10
what is it - CIV 6.jpg

[Edit]: Ignore me. Seeing the Jebel Barkal wonder in the stream, it looks like that's where it belongs. Weird tech for a religious wonder...

The scenario looks really fun, but it's a little funny how much they had to nerf Nubia and buff Egypt to make it a fair fight.

Nubia:
- starts with very little military
- starts surrounded by desert with no nearby city-states to conquer
- cannot build districts on floodplains
- tech tree reworked to make Pitati a 'mid game' unit
- added gold

Egypt:
- gets the strongest great general in the game, with a whopping +10 CS boost to nearby allies
- starts with Nubian archers before nubia can get them
- starts surrounded by easy prey to conquer
- starts with a wonder nearby that can be conquered

Also, both leaders (but especially Cleopatra) seem out of place in 1800BC.

It seems like a good tech to have a wonder in, but Jebel Barkal wouldn't make sense. a) That icon doesn't look like a palace in a mountain. b) If it's a religious wonder, I would expect it to be in the civic tree or on the top half of the tech tree, not the bottom.

Maybe I'm wrong. Is there any possibility at all of it being another building?

Looks like the wonder to me; the little structures in front of the mountain are all in exactly the right place to match up.

Yeah I know what you mean when you talk about the scale of the game, it feels funny when you think about it, especially if you look at the true earth map for instance: plant 1 city in Spain and another in northern France and you cover all of Western Europe. I feel the same and I also feel that scale is the reason why they haven´t included navigable rivers up to this point... because I´m sure they thought about it.

The game would be a lot deeper strategically with navigable rivers, naval units would be boosted and it would add some realism to the game as the icing on the cake. I hope they bring that in an expansion. If enough people ask for it, maybe they´ll pay attention who knows :)

.

But it also has to deal with multiple invasions from the north

Why especially Cleopatra? Both Amanitore and Cleopatra lived in the practically same time.

The scenario seems to span two thousand years, ending around the time when Amanitore and Cleopatra ruled. It's a reasonable choice, and frankly any leader they could have picked would be out of place at some point.

What is odd though is that you play as Cleopatra and have to fight off her Macedonian ancestors' invasion!

I would love it if SOME rivers became navigable so we still have the rivers we have in game but one or two random rivers would spawn (with fresh water) that would be a real pain to cross and would allow maybe only ancient era ships to sail I think that would be a great way to implement the rivers into the game. However, I don't know if we will see this from Friaxis (of course modders could add in without much trouble).

As for the districts I think that will be something we see, eventually, it may not come around until the expansion as, I'm guessing, it was not planned to be in the game. But it looks great and they are getting a hugely positive response about it so it seems like something reasonable to add, it just will take the art team a while to get caught up.

This kind of improvement it will add a lot if you star to think about. more difficult to pass in early game, and open the door to districts like bridges(....maybe), wonders (goden gate -San Francisco, Tower Bridge -London, Sydney Harbour Bridge - Sydney, Akashi Kaikyō Bridge - Japan...)!

I just wanted to say that. Bridges wonders would be fine.
