What happened to the whole "keeping Europeans out of Asia" thing? Secondly, European countries interested in going to Asia would sail more likely around Africa than South America- there's no point unless you plan on stopping in the Americas. But of course, there is the whole deal with Panama itself- go ahead and attempt it. Like I said, as long as you don't receive any territory in the Americas I won't have any problems.
