I don't have any particular goal for the number of members here at civfan, but I too share Storm's sentiment. I, however, am not optimistic about existing poor quality posters suddenly switching into mature well spoken types. As I see it, the only way to get more excellent poseters is to have more members...that will, of course, also bring in all the riff raff.
However, bad posters have there place here too. I don't mean to make it sound like we encourage people to say stupid things, its just that it can be so entertaining sometimes. Then again, no one really understands when I'm being entertained by what I see because I usually end up posting some counter-insult and everyone assumes I'm just angry.
As far as the the issue of overall quality of posting -particularly here in OT which has been a zoo for some time now- there isn't anything any of us can do to pre-empt it; mods and admins can only react. Site traffic will continue to climb and posters will continue to join our club. We will get some great members I'm sure, but we will also get the dross. In any case, there isn't anything we can do about it so just like the penguin said...SLIDE!
