NutraNESIV.6: The Dread Kings of Ekra

@hbar: You said my numbers are not consistent, which ones?

Orders are in.

A note on navies
Navies will be now included in their own separate stat. 20‡ ships = 1,000† manpower. 'Pool' manpower can also be converted into 'Navy' ships/manpower for 1¤ per 1,000† (i.e. if a player has 5,000† in their manpower pool he could turn 2,000† into 20‡ for 2¤). Changing 'Pool' manpower into 'Navy' ships is permanent; if ships are decommissioned they do not go back to your manpower 'Pool' and are lost forever.

See above

Oh, woops! I meant 2000† for 40‡. Changing now.

I had pointed it out before, but I think Nutra may have accidentally glossed over that section of my post. I knew what he meant so it wasn't worth arguing about. See post 300

I guess I did see that before. I just assumed it was clarified in the rules already. Oh well.

@nutra
Who else needs to be reminded for forgetting orders?

Lopaz (Scalesian)
Masada (Vir) (Though I believe he's quit, admission by silence)
spryillo (Tellathil)
Northen Wolf (Amathon) (Though he did tell me his orders would be later than norm, and since he's pretty good about orders I'm cutting him some slack)
Dreadnought (Mîrhabad)

I'll VM on Saturday in case they just need a kick in the rear. I'm not trying to be too pushy about getting the orders in as the deadline was officially extended to Sunday afterall.

Tellathiel ;)

Oh and I diploed to Northern Wolf, I think he will send orders soon...

What's the military technology of the era? I know they use spears, but is the armor technology hoplite, legion, or early medieval?

Late Antiquity. Celestium mail hauberk is the mainstay armor for heavy troops, though the best armored ones have segments of plate manufactured in Hekra or Elas-Ch. Most warriors, though, use an odd assortment of Celestium chain, Celestium llamelar (worn over their chain if they/their lord can afford both), or just plain old leather armor.

As you mentioned above spears are the mainstay weapon due to its ability to pierce the most common armors Ekran soldiers wear, but swords, axes, and maces are also popular enough. At the least a spearman will have a mace/club as a side arm. In terms of ranged weaponry javelins are the mainstay weapon, although the steppe Elves and forest Elves field skilled bowmen, though any ranged warrior doubles as a skilled enough melee fighter due to the melee focus on Ekran warfare.

Alright, only missing orders from Masada, Northen Wolf, Lopaz, and Dreadnought.

@Popcornlord

I don't know if you missed it, but I'm proposing the wedding should be held in Barad Hiramar. Is that acceptable?

@nutranurse

So light is leather, and then it's a mixture of leather, mail, and lamellar, with heavies being mostly mail and llamellar, and the best having some plate?

Yes, though I would amend that to say that the heavies have long mail that reach their legs, whereas a medium/in-between troop would have a shirt of mail.

From: King Horthir II of the Kingdom of Aeralithe
To: King Larenésas 'the Drake-Friend' of the Kingdom of Minamonno

Barad Hiramar would make a fine location for the wedding, although I am surprised you do not want the ceremony within your own lands. The fort will be glorified for the martial union of our two nations. My son will also be married soon; perhaps both weddings could be done at the same place, and around the same time?

OCC: Sorry, I didn't see your diplomacy.

Starting the update, though I have not received orders from Masada (Vir), Lopaz (Scalesian), or Mirhabad (Dreadnought).

I do believe, however, that Masada has quit this NES after the last update not playing out to his favor, so his missing orders were expected. The Vir will be NPC'd unless he states otherwise!

@Nutranurse
TheDright and I have been PMing, and the marriage will be located in Aedanithren. I suppose Edenron (Horthir's son) will need to get married in Nelthor, or wherever his wife is from. Not sure exactly how relevant it is, but I thought you should know.

Just letting you guys know the NES is going on a brief haitus for 10 days while I frantically write my senior thesis.
