Walata finishes: Hindu Mandir and begins: Jail
Awdaghost finishes: University and begins: Courthouse

IBT:
Judaism has spread: Kumbi Saleh

Turn 265 (1775 AD)
Kumbi Saleh finishes: Worker and begins: Hindu Missionary
Tadmekka finishes: Worker and begins: Theatre

IBT:
Now Peter wants us to cancel our deals with Cyrus. This one is a tough decision. If it wasn't for the fact that Cyrus has the only source of marble, I would probably agree.
OB01_1780AD_Peter.JPG

This decision to decline may turn out to have been a mistake.

Turn 266 (1780 AD)
Kumbi Saleh finishes: Hindu Missionary and begins: Hindu Missionary
Culture finishes: Hermitage and resumes: Market

IBT:
What is it with everybody hating Cyrus?!?!?
OB01_1785AD_Alex.JPG

Frankly, I could care less what Alex has to demand. Let him declare again!

I agree to Tokugawa's request for open borders ...
OB01_1785AD_Tokugawa.JPG

Sorry, lady, we just don't like you enough!

Turn 269 (1795 AD)
Djenne finishes: Hindu Monastery and begins: Rifleman
Tadmekka finishes: Theatre and begins: Jail

Turn 270 (1800 AD)
Tech learned: Steam Power and Research begun: Corporation
Guess what? We have no coal! :gripe: Peter has four sources of coal. We need to decide if we want to try and steal one!

OB01_1800AD_Coal.JPG

If we put a Settler down right next to it, and try for another Great Artist. While waiting for the GA, we start building cultural buildings. Follow those up with a couple of Cathedrals. It is just possible that by the time we have researched Railroads, we just might have coal.

Walata finishes: Worker and begins: Settler I think we should try and steal the coal. I did not hire the Artists, though. Walata is the current favorite for the next Great Person in 23 turns.
Kumbi Saleh finishes: Confucian Missionary and begins: Confucian Missionary
Delphi finishes: Forbidden Palace and begins: Barracks
Sparta finishes: Library and begins: University
Hinduism has spread: Athens

Since we have two wars going on (Tokugawa vs Cyrus and Victoria vs Mao), I thought I should post the current power graph. Tokugawa has a commanding lead. Peter is quickly catching up to us.

OB01_1800AD_Power.JPG

Here are our current troop levels.

OB01_1800AD_Troops.JPG

Notice that all of the archery and melee units are gone. I disbanded some and upgraded others. I really think we should hang on to the elephants and cats rather than disbanding them. Also, those two Missionaries are probably on GoTo orders. I think I forget to clear the orders before saving. The next person may want to check that out. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It should also be noted that it looks like Tokugawa is going to relieve the pressure on Culture. It's a shame that Hermitage has already been completed.

OB01_1800AD_Culture.JPG

The Statue of Liberty will be complete in Niani next turn. The city still needs to build National Epic and Globe Theatre, though. Since we are running Universal Suffrage, I decided to keep the cottages around for the extra hammers. Do not farm them over until the 2 wonders are built!

And finally, the save: OB-01_AD-1800.Civ4SavedGame

Great set Conroe. Im glad we finally got the Confused shrine. Lets build both our religious missionaries and earn some gold.

And what is the deal with us not having Coal as big as we are now. Railroads on our lumbermills and mines would be huge. Whatever it takes to get coal or work towards that goal...I say do it. Lets put a junk town near Peters Coal and at least try to get it.......Lets make him mad if we have to. Before making him mad, lets build units in the que of alot of cities and switch production in those same cities. If and when he declares, well have some units rdy in the que.

I meant to post a recap of our discussion of national wonders, but forgot to do it last night. I think this is what we agreed to. Make sure I didn't miss something somewhere. I also went through the civilpedia to get a list of those that we didn't talk about.

Forbidden Palace - Delphi
Iron Works - Kumbi Saleh
Hermitage - Culture DONE
Oxford - Timbuktu Almost DONE
Wall Street - Timbuktu
Heroic Epic - Zapotec DONE
West Point - Zapotec DONE Soon
National Epic - Niani
Globe Theatre - Niani
Mt Rushmore - TBD
Red Cross - TBD
Scotland Yard - TBD

Nice work Conroe.

If Toko decides to keep Arbela rather than raze, it could concievably flip to us! We should have a spare settler around just in case he does decide to do some razing.

I agree with the junk city to get the coal.

As for National Wonders, I'd only add that it makes sense for one of the three TBD ones goes in Kumbi Saleh after Ironworks, from a time for production point of view.

This brings up an interesting point that I had failed to consider. :( Our coal mining town that we are going to found outside of Rostov could conceivably flip to Russia. We should probably plan on putting some garrison troops there to prevent it from flipping.

I got a question....what does "out of pocket" mean. I assume it means youll be gone, but why that phrase? And why wouldnt it be better to post in the game your in that youre gonna be gone rather than the "out of pocket" thread?

@ conroe yes im gone sry about that
@ cabledawg Out of the pocket means that you wont be in the rotation for a certin amount of time

1800AD
Before pressing enter I notice that Athens is stagnated...I fix it.
Civ4ScreenShot0000dd.jpg

I renegotiate our trade deals for more money. Every 10 turns, we need to do this.
Civ4ScreenShot0002dd.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0003dd.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0004dd.jpg

I hope you guys dont mind if I dont go through each individual build. Ill tell you the major ones and I did get more missionaries built. I press enter

1802AD
France sends us a gift
Civ4ScreenShot0005dd.jpg

Oxford finishes at Timbuk...I start a Confused Missionary

1804AD
Arbela gets captured by the Toky and retaken by Cyrus on the same turn.
Civ4ScreenShot0006dd.jpg

1806AD
Settler finishes and heads to coal.
Niani finishes Library and starts National Epic
Zapotec completes West Point and start military builds.
Walata is losing tiles to Peter, so I start a Jewish Synagogue there.

1808AD
Toky takes back Arbela and holds it.
Civ4ScreenShot0008dd.jpg

Corporation comes in and I choose Assembly line to start the Pentagon. Our new Settler founds our new city named Coal Blooded. Since we are in Universale Suffarage, I start buying cultural building every turn.

1810AD
Niani will have Natl Epic in 6 turns, so I start the windmill/farm projects there.
I start Wall Street in Timbuk as it truly does have the most coins.
Civ4ScreenShot0010dd.jpg

Ill put more cottages there, but im leaving the lumbermills till Wall Street is done. We might even want to keep those for the health from the forest until Medicine comes in. Its maxed out on health now.

Continued

1812AD
Check out Coal Blooded. Because of the culture buildings I bought, it gets 2 free specialist...1 from Mercantilism and the other from the SOL.
Civ4ScreenShot0012dd.jpg

I put Kumbi on a diet. Next person can change this or wait till medicine to grow again.
Civ4ScreenShot0013dd.jpg

1818AD
I say no to this request as we need Cyrus's delicious seafood.
Civ4ScreenShot0014dd.jpg

I make this trade to Toky as he is prolly researching it anyway
Civ4ScreenShot0016dd.jpg

Look at Arbela now. Think itll flip....lol
Civ4ScreenShot0017dd.jpg

I start settlers in Uzbek and Djenne. The war between Toky and Cyrus might give us an oppurtunity to snag some land.

1820AD
Niani pops a Great Prophet and finishes Natl Epic. The Team can decide what to do with him....I put him to sleep with some ether. He fought me a lil bit though.
Sparta finishes something...lol....and i look through the possible builds and i see the Collosus hasnt been built. Ill give it a shot.

1822AD
Toky makes peace with Cyrus

1824AD
Did you guys expect any less?
Civ4ScreenShot0018dd.jpg

We get Assembly Line in 1 turn so this is gonna be a massacre for Peter.
Hes got a few units up north which I handle.
Civ4ScreenShot0019dd.jpg

And a few stacks in the south
Civ4ScreenShot0021dd.jpg

I could have brought Toky in the war for 2850 Gold but we dont need him and thats upgrade money. Heres the power graph.
Civ4ScreenShot0023dd.jpg

1826AD
Assembly Line comes in and i choose Steel to get Cannons.
I upgrade all front line units to Infantry.
Civ4ScreenShot0024dd.jpg

I start Pentagon in Djenne.
I send 2 medics(1 Jumbo & 1 Grenny) down south as we will need them there for 2 attacking stacks.

1828AD
I wipe out a few of Peters stacks.

1830AD
I am tearing his stacks up and i feel like Im cheating...lol
I swap the pigs from Zapotec to Walata as it needs the growth now.

1832AD
Anyone ever built this this late?
Civ4ScreenShot0027dd.jpg

I rushed a University in Athens. Next person, plz get a jail there as we have unhappiness there and others too. I turned the culture slider to 10% but then turned it back down after this deal.
Civ4ScreenShot0029dd.jpg

That trade saved us 90GPT and we wont need stone till after the war is over anyway.
Most of peters stacks are all gone.
Civ4ScreenShot0028dd.jpg

I played 15 turns...next player can play less if they want. I built some cats so we can upgrade them to cannons as soon as Steel comes online in 2 turns.

Lets keep every city of Peters. With our missionaries, they will pay for themselves immediatly. That Prophet thats sleeping can be used in Moscow for the Buddhist shrine if Peter hasnt built it allready. I demanded some cash from Alex which he paid.

I sent a couple of Infantry into Russia to do some pillaging but havent done it because were gonna keep those cities.

The next person is gonna have fun. Heres our lands right now.

What's the deal with the AI declaring when Cabledawg is up? :wow: I'm guessing we could have set the "Always Peace" option and Cabledawg would still get declared on ...

It looks like we don't need Coal Blooded anymore. :hmm: We can just go take Rostov and solve the problem with the coal. As for the Great Prophet, we can also merge him in our Wall St city. A super-priest generates something like 5gpt IIRC. And the AI are usually pretty quick to build a shrine.

I think we can still keep Coal Blooded (CB). If , or I should say when we get the Buddhist shrine and put 3 missionaries in CB....well that and the fact that its close to the capitol...it will be making us money.
