Official announcement: Hot off the presses. Next Civ game in development!!!!!!!

Can't fit V-I-I into the word, Civilization, so I actually think they will jump to Civ 101.

This is an easy answer to me. V is when the game got the dummy button that auto sent you off to do the next thing that needed your attention. This made it much more player friendly and easier to play without having to keep track of everything that was going on. Short attention spans require the dummy button.
Sorry, what button are you refering to?

A lot of Civ5 forgot about that phase of the game's development.
I was really busy at work back then and didn't get to play until G&K I think. Or maybe BNW.
So I don't remember any of that.

However, I do very clearly remember Civ VI at launch.
That was a total clusterfudg!

I know many of you are excited for the announcement of Civ 7(?).

I would be excited if Firaxis announced (or shared) that it is using a new foundation, new technology for Civ 7.

IDK if you know but Marvel's Midnight Suns is free to play this weekend and I'm really enjoying it!
It's a nice break from 4X. But still turn-based strategy.
While I might plunk down the £30 for it on Steam RN as it's on sale.
I most certainly am not going to be pre-ordering Civ VII or buying it on launch.

Rise of Social Media.

I think access to Social Media, mainstreaming of YouTube, and the rise of "let's plays" probably helped in spreading a lot of the games that were more niche into mainstream more.
Could easy accessibility by Steam also be a contributing factor? I'm not quite sure when Steam started to be honest and if that was the main way to play Civ 4 back when it was released, or not?

Are there any Ukrainians here? How do you think, will they add Ukraine in Civ 7?
I just can't get how they have Hungary, but don't have Ukraine in Civ 6.

Є тут українці? Як ви думаєте, чи буде Україна в в 7 Цивілізації? Я просто не розумію яким чином в шостій Циві вони додали Угорщину, але не додали Україну.

That sound was the best sound in the whole game! Policy trees were lame, though. You always took the same ones or else you just made the game harder for yourself. There wasn't really any choice or strategy there.

If I wanted a large empire I always started with Liberty but if I aimed for a tall empire I went with Tradition.

That would actually make the game a lot easier, though. Bonuses at the beginning are more important than bonuses later.
Depends on how big the progressive bonuses are (and how well can AI perform at victories and other late game strategies) imho. But it definitely would make deity less frustrating and one dimensional for me.

EDIT: Try Infixo's Real Strategy mod and Phyrax's Late game AI mod on deity. Much harder than Vanilla Deity, although less punishing at the beginning.

All i want is the diplomacy of Civ IV back, and the trade system... please, please, please! One could trade any commodity from food, to copper, wool etc. After Civ V that went all down hill.

I petitioned Ed Beach to include Ukraine in Civ 7 about 11 months ago and he responded with a Ukrainian flag

I can't see them adding modern Ukraine with all the pandering to dictatorships (see the line about rewriting history in Yongle's intro). They could and probably will add Kievan Rus tho.
Ukrainian history is 1000 years old, predating Muscovite Russia.

Well that... and ya know not actually being a united country till at least 1917 when the People's Republic formed.

Bu they didn't identify as Ukrainian etc. The area was part of a Cossack Hetman after fighting for independence from Poland.
