Proof that Canadians are deranged. :snowlaugh:
When you consider that we were having temperatures of about -51C recently and -40C was a "warm" day (relatively speaking, as I certainly don't consider it warm), -16C is downright balmy (especially without windchill).

My own comfort zone does not include anything colder than -25C (that's when the winter coat comes out, whether wind chill is involved or not). -25C and above (without wind chill) is fall jacket plus layers, otherwise I get overheated when inside.

At -30C I do not go outside unless it's an extremely necessary trip, as risking frostbite is not smart (I actually walked over to the cat shelter I volunteered at in that temperature a couple of times back in the winter of '09, because I didn't want the cats to miss out on their scheduled cuddles and play time).

Tropical Storm Auring is coming. :cringe: It should be passing north of Bohol this weekend. IMHO, our central mountains should protect us on the south coast. :p

Now, Auring is a severe tropical storm. :wow: By 08:00 Sunday morning [my time], it will be directly east of me. Auring will move west by northwest, sliding past Bohol to our north all day Sunday and be away from us by Monday morning. :whew:I still predict our mountains will shield us from most of the wind and rain. :eekdance:

Derp mean "doh" roughly.

Eg "derp I had a brain fart".

We got above freezing today for the first time in 11 days. It was one of our longest streaks below freezing on record, and I think somewhere in northern Oklahoma set a state record for consecutive hours below freezing with over 300.

It's been snowing for a day, and isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow, and hasn't added up to 2 inches yet.

:dubious: Auring has stalled  It's on the same path--just delayed for 24 hours. So the big blow will not come tomorrow, but rather the day after.

That happened to us on Thursday and Friday of last week. We weren't supposed to get any snow, but wound up with a dusting. Then last weekend and Tuesday night we got snowstorms that gave us a 7" (18 cm) snowpack, which has melted somewhat in the sun despite temperatures mostly staying below freezing.

-10C, -16C with wind chill, 10% chance of precipitation, too much light pollution for anything but the brightest stars (lovely view of Sirius)

Yes, it's a warm night, as winter nights go.

Sunday morning 03:45. No evidence here of the Auring, which is now just a tropical depression approaching Samar/Leyte to our northeast. Our sea has only small, lazy waves. We have no wind. --Wait, I hear the soft patter of distant rain. Now again, all is quiet except for small waves. :dunno:

-4C Lots of snow. :(
