Oh, the weather outside is...

Tropical storm coming. Should be here tomorrow.

See the blue circle? See the little storm icon in the center of it? See the little curved line coming out of the top? That line ends where my house is. --We're gonna get wet.

Stay safe!

We're supposed to get rain here today through Wednesday. Looking forward to it.

Being a beach kind of guy who only goes north in summer, it was last week that i touched snow for first time in my lifetime. It was at the mountains of Cadiz near Ronda. The peaks were all white but down in the town i could only catch some falling snowflakes. It always feels like expanded polystyrene?

No it comes in many different forms that feel and look different. I think the story about Inuit having 50 different words for snow is apocryphal but it makes sense.

Snow has many textures, tastes, and even smells, depending on how much moisture is in it and in the air. That's why we refer to wet snow and dry snow. The wet stuff makes everything pretty to look at, unless you need to shovel it or it's so heavy that it breaks the power lines.

Rain today!! Well mostly a drizzle, but it kept the ground damp most of the day and made some puddles.

I have no idea where you are, but 22 degrees in February sounds a little silly unless you're in Mediterranean climes or similar.

Even for California coast it's on the high side but it's become the new normal.

DC is actually roughly at the latitude of southern Spain or so iirc. But it is definitely not normal for it to be that warm.

At least, more days with that kind of temperature are normal. Rather than steady cold we seem to be alternating between bitter cold and unseasonable warmth.

You probably know this already but since DC is on the East Coast it is not in a Mediterranean climate zone and so the climate is very, very different from Spain or California.

I recall reading that were it not for the Gulf Stream, the UK would have a similar climate to that of New York state and thus be much colder in the winter.

Yes, I do already know ;) It would be rather difficult to mistake this humid awfulness with a Mediterranean climate.

Yeah, except I think it would be even colder than New York state because of how much further north it is. Although idk maybe the ocean would moderate it somewhat even without the gulf stream.

In fact New york is at the same latitude as Ibiza or Naples. Great Britain is as northern as Terranova/Labrador. Without the Gulf Stream there would be Polar Bears around London.

Weather is pretty standard in here...During the day, temperatures between 22C to 28C, at night, it might get around 18C with some winds throughout the day...Typical summer days. At the beach is 30C or more...

Snow tonight. 70 degrees come Wednesday. So I only have to ignore it a couple days and it'll be gone.

It got up to 27C on Thursday. Contrast that with afternoon temperatures not getting above -4C last Saturday. Back in January we got down to -17C.
We're supposed to get some rain this week, which should get us out of this severe drought we're in.
