Oh, the weather outside is...

Rain

-49C at the moment, with fog.

This afternoon is forecast to be a balmy -35C, and will be around -51C overnight.

It rained intermittently for a while and steadily became more intense, which made my job today (moving stuff around outside) pretty annoying. Then as soon as my job was finished it cleared up.

It could have been the other way around (and I would have been a bit happier) but you get what you get.

The Weather Network tells me it's -17C now. Earlier it was -28C ... 20 degrees warmer than the day before, but my hands were so cold earlier tonight that I was seriously thinking about putting on my gloves and just watching videos (since it's hard to type while wearing gloves).

I'm still wearing 5 layers and have a fleece blanket draped over me.

To put this into perspective: I don't need to have to leave a can of pop in the fridge to cool it. All I need to do is leave it out in the room I'm in.

Ran into a Canadian at our camp. They were moving to Dunedin from the far North which was to hot;).

Ye Olde New Englande Wintry Mixe. 33F / 0.5C, snow, rain, sleet, back to snow, back to rain. :woohoo:

It snowed last night

At least I have a snow day. :D
Enjoy it while it last. Cause one you enter adulthood, you’d learn to hate it since you have to clean up after it and drive in it ;).

I took a short trip to the ground floor this afternoon, figuring it must be warm enough down there by now. We've had multiple water shutoffs here in the past couple of days, due to burst pipes. One of them basically exploded, so that must have been the loud noise I heard yesterday. It resulted in a flood in the manager's office and the social room (which is thankfully not carpeted).

I'm told my old apartment is still freezing, even though they installed extra heating after I moved out.

I was also told that the other night, Edmonton was the coldest place in the world (Edmonton is just 90 minutes north of here, so I have no trouble believing that!). I had to laugh, though, when the manager said, "It was colder than Antarctica!". I told him that of course it was, since it's the middle of summer in Antarctica now.

(and then I mooched the last two pastries left over from the maintenance staff's meeting, since they all went home - in this weather I crave chocolate, and there was a chocolate something-or-other in the Tim Hortons box :yumyum:)

We had off of school yesterday because of the cold - wind chills in the -30C range. Today is warmer and less windy (about -15C) so we are back at work. Unfortunately, the heat is off in my building and there is no timeline for fixing it. My boss just sent an email asking us to warn students and bundle up in class. Evidently my classroom is one of the warmer ones at 11C.

It was about 18F / -8C when I left the house this morning. That's beginning to get down to where I start to say to myself "hey, it's cold out." I actually had to put a hat on.

The slippery ground was much more aggravating than the temperature. Yesterday's rain/snow mix is all ice today. On the plus side, it turns out that the Doc Martens I bought last Fall have very good grip, much better than the Skechers I was wearing last Winter.

Going to be sunny and about 50F today; and likely the rest of the week.
