Oh, the weather outside is...

It may or may not snow Wednesday morning. I'd bet money on it not snowing any significant amount, as we always seem to get screwed out of a good snowfall.

We got about 2.7"/7 cm of snow in the end. But it got up to 72F/22C on Sunday, so the snow's all gone now. What's funny is it was also 76F/24.5C on Groundhog Day, so this month has been off to a quite variable start. But we get some of the wildest temperature swings on the planet, behind only the high plains region from Lubbock, TX to Edmonton, AB, so these sorts of swings aren't that unusual, and you kind of just accept them after a while. (And also most of the central third of the U.S./Canada is similarly variable, with the eastern third not too far behind).

Cold, overcast and damp feeling. Snow in the mountains.

Why does America gets all the snow ?!
And we Europe nerf herders got nothing :(
I wanted to make a snow-man ..... :( tough luck !!

There is nothing cool about snow (well, other than literally :) ).

I hate the cold. Thankfully it is still ok here, unlike last Winter which was quite bad. We had a week of snow in the city a few years ago and it sucked.

Yesterday was my company's annual ski trip to Gore Mountain in Northern New York: relatively sunny , -2C, light wind - very wonderful day of skiing! Below is a pic I took of two individuals looking over the precipice of a double black diamond run. It was uncanny how they looked so much like myself and a friend when we were lining up our run that I'm referring to them as our stunt doubles:

While the Gulf Stream does have an impact, it also has to do with the prevailing westerly winds. West coasts tend to have milder winters regardless of the presence of a warm current due to those regions getting winds off the warmer ocean. Land cools off more quickly than ocean, so those winds cool as they blow over land.

10% of California is back in drought after a lackluster rainy season. There's still time for things to turn around and our reservoirs are in OK shape but the snow pack that we rely on for summer water (and that a lot of wildlife depends on) is 50% below average.

Storm Dennis just dumped a lot of rain on me over one hour - my garden is flooded.

I'll have to do something about it to and I think get the council to unblock a drain down the road.

It's been pouring down all day here and the windowsills of my front room are collecting water. I guess I know what needs to be fixed next week...

The wind has subsided somewhat and it's not raining much, now. The towel on my windowsill is rather damp though.
