Oh, the weather outside is...

It got up to 30°C (86°F) in Norman today, quite warm for this time of year. That's only a couple degrees F short of the record high for the month of November. What's funny is we had a day a little over a week ago where it didn't get above 4°C (38°F) with cold rain all day,

Fall slowly turning to winter. Days in the 60s and nights in the 30s. Sunny almost every day.

Terrible weather here. Suffering.

Hiking up that hill Saturday.

Bit nicer around my block.

It went from summer to winter in a week.

Tomorrow it will be worse; at around 6 degrees all day.
TIL - Saturday in Greek is "Sabbato" very similar to "Sabado" in Spanish, with the letter sigma in place of the letter "s" because duh, its Greek, so "sigma"="s" AND November is Noembpioy in Greek. It was cool to see the words so similar that I could instantly recognize/understand them despite not knowing much Greek.

What has the wheels in my head turning now, is that since the Calendar system we use is commonly referred to as being based on a version of the Roman calendar, and I know that the Romans based so much of their culture and systems on pre-existing Greek things... Is the Roman calendar actually based on the Greek calendar or is it the other way around?...ie the Greek calendar was totally different pre-Rome and Greece just uses the Roman calendar now like everybody else.

I guess I could look it up...

Snow on the Sandias this past weekend. The picture was taken from the west side of the Rio Grande (hidden in the valley). Albuquerque sits below the right half of the mountain. The downtown is off to the right out of the frame. The peak is 10,600'. The east side of the mountain (hidden) is a more gentle slope and has a ski slope and a road to the top. Skiers can also ride a tram from the western base of the mountain to the top of the ski slope to avoid the much longer drive around and up the ski lodge.

Yeah, same in Chch. Although, the rain cleared about midday, so I went out on my bike today and it looked like it had never rained... It was a blustery day, though.
