Cute little critter.

Hurry up and step on it before it gets to the children!

No mention of Zimbabwe, so I say, Zimbabwe.

What about Islamabad?

The Queen's Undies.

What about Islamabad?
It's a pretty boring place most times. Typical administrative city.

One of those African countries that's completely destroyed by civil war. You know, the ones in which the freedom fighters are wearing hot pink shorts, life vests, graduation gowns etc.
I don't know what news station you've been watching!

Philly. Its murder rate is worse then DC and B-more. That says a lot.
But the cheeeeeeese steaks!
West 36 has a point. I got shot in Philly, as you would expect, but all I could think was: "Dayum! That IS a tasty bit of Provolone!"

And that's why I'm here today :smug:
*burp*

 You should turn off your TV and learn a bit more about the outside world.

Africa is a big place, and there are a lot of countries where it's perfectly safe to travel.
Well said. And ditto to whoever mentioned Middle East earlier on. Turn off the damn TV!!!

Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Pakistan.

May I ask why? Is it because they're poor?
Well, I don't think there would be much that would interest me...
If anything, I would visit South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, and maybe Tunisia (Carthage).

But what I mainly don't want to visit from Africa is all those really poor countries.

(Sorry if I offended you.)

Belle Glade ~ second highest level of crime in the nation
Dover/Calais ~ Both rather nasty cities, prefer to not go through them again. I did like the white cliffs but feel it's been tainted by the dockyard.

You did not offended me. It's simply that I do not understand why you equate poor countries with bad experiences. More often that not, people in poor countries are much more social than individual Westerners.

In other words, you might not find the 5-star hotel and the pristine beach, but you will meet great people and have great experiences.

What screws up everything, of course, is mass tourism, and then you end up with countries like Egypt where, if you stay on the main tracks, you will be hounded by people thinking you're just a giant money bag.

So traveling out of the beaten paths requires preparation and giving up a certain level of personal comfort, but it's well worth it.

Yeah, that's why I'm not staying in Paris when I go to France. ;)

But seriously, I know what you mean. The people who actually don't get that many tourists are always so nice and hospitable (of course, there are exceptions, but for the most part, they're usually nice and friendly. :))
